George was friendly and knowledgeable during my initial encounter with this facility. My unit was clean and easily accessible. Though I have a few caveats that should be known, however... 1) I dont like being quoted one price on the phone only to be charged more than double that price upon execution of their contract. I was quoted on the phone the total amount required at move in was $23. When i went in to sign the paperwork to rent a unit, i was then told about the mandatory lock purchase fee and that an additional insurance fee was also mandatory. 2) I specifically asked if i could use my renters insurance for this purpose and was told that renters insurance does NOT cover offsite storage facilities. This was not true as my insurance does in fact cover my rental storage unit. When i returned to request this charge be refunded, they had me sign opt out paperwork and informed me that the insurance charge would be returned via a corporate check in the US mail for a prorated amount of only $2. This charge was paid by me in cash the day i signed paperwork. My refund should have also been in cash for the full amount i paid, not a prorated amount. I should have been offered the opt out paperwork initially and not forced to purchase something i already had especially when i asked about this directly. Thats just bad business and a rather sketchy way to make money in my opinion. All charges should be conveyed over the phone when the inquiry to rent is made. That did not happen. Hidden charges or hidden information is not the way to earn the trust of potential customers. 3) In addition, my daughter attempted to rent her own unit with the $1 move in special and was denied a unit because we are related, though we live in separate cities and not at the same address. I was livid when i went in with her to rent her unit only to have George deny her the same deal i received because shes my daughter and has the same last name as me even though her license proves we dont live together. He basically accused us of trying to scam him, to which i took great offense. 4) The door to my unit does not stay up. It rolls down to head height unless i wedge something in to hold it up. 5) The outside light above my unit is broken (as are other lights on my row). When i asked if these will be repaired, George told me theyre on "the list" of repairs needed at this facility. Its been a few weeks and theyre still inoperable. This should be repaired immediately as safety is an issue without proper lighting. I have to use a flashlight to see anything if i go to my unit after dark. Isnt that something our rental fees help pay? Paying my monthly rent isnt on any list, its just a requirement if i want to access my stuff. How long have these broken lights been on "the list"?

I was pleased with the unit and the response to the reservation process. I was called promptly and was told I could come in to sign paperwork at any time despite not needing the unit for a week. When I arrived I was taken care of promptly and courteously. We looked at the unit and the manager handed me the key. I asked if I should pick the key up a week later when I actually needed the unit. She responded by saying no need. Billing is likely planned by corporate, but in my mind this is really where things fell apart. Getting a storage locker they quote per month, then tack on a lot of extra fees which I always find distasteful. Have to use our lock, thats a charge, one time admin fee (That one I can at least accept), and yes I did buy some supplies. The paperwork has no start time and only states that the bill is due at the beginning of the month for the full price. When it came time to ring me up it was way more then a prorated month would be (it seems like I was charged for a full month from the get go even though I only wanted to start on the 20th of the month. Then it says the next month is due at the beginning of January and that I have a negative $100 balance. Crappy way of doing business IMO but they were the only option in the area with a large enough unit available. Really had mixed feelings about this transaction. Friendly service.. Really wonky fee structure. We will see what they try to charge me next month.

Some confusion about the locks at first, but we got a decent sized unit by reserving online at a great price on the first floor. Overall satisfied with the result, but very unsatisfied with the surprise fees involved with signing up. After being quoted one price up front, we were then surprised by the admin fee of $22 or so (which I can accept, but more fees cropped up). Then locks were required, but not just ANY lock, it had to be the cylinder lock provided by Public Storage for $19.99. after inspecting other units, I discovered that other people were not using the cylinder lock, they had simply found a metal insert for the doors that let you use regular locks. Very displeased that this was required, especially when the paperwork says I am liable for my own possessions AND that at the end of the paperwork it clearly states that the occupant must supply a lock that the occupant deems fit to secure their possessions. After picking up my own lock, the associate still refused to allow me to use my own and required I buy the Public Storage lock. Also annoyed that renters insurance is required - if Im liable for my own belongings, I should be allowed to elect whether I want my items financially covered or not. Im sure there are other reasons for this, but still annoying.

My wife called Public Storage and was quoted $22 + $1 to move-in. I say great and send my wife to go pay and sign up. Then the manager told her that purchasing their insurance and lock were mandatory. She signed up and then told me the charges 5 minutes later and I asked her to go back and cancel the unit because they lied to us and tricked us into coming down just so they could upcharge us. When she went back 5 minutes later the manager was extremely rude and refused to issue the refund until my wife couldnt take it anymore and started crying. Then the manager all of sudden could issue the refund after he did this to my wife. However, he said we would still be turned over to collections. Keep in mind that we never took possession and my wife attempted to cancel this scam only 5 minutes after she left the storage unit. If this is the way they do business on the front end I would look out for other tricks and scams along the way. Just horrible that they have people working there that have no respect for customers.

Totally UNSAFE and unsecured storage. This place is rundown and mismanaged. The place is not maintained in any way. A prime example of this is the lack of lighting. I just moved in and went there for the first time at night. I noticed how dark it is everywhere. I took a count and of the 27 outdoor light fixtures, only 5 were working. "Is that a person lurking around my car ready to attack?... I wouldnt know since it is pitch black everywhere!" That many lights dont go out over a month or two...more like several years! Also, I have an indoor unit, with a "secure" keypad door. The problem is one of the two doors does not shut properly (which they informed me when I did my walk through) and so it is always unlocked. They have no plans to fix this either. I asked about the issues and the property manager George got really angry that I would bring up these concerns. I know I wont let my wife go there at night and I will be moving out this week.
