We were originally considering going with conventional cabinets. The limited choices and questionable origins of materials gave us second thoughts. When we first contacted Beech Tree, we assumed it was a pipe dream—that we’d be priced right out of that option. To our great surprise, the price difference between what we’d been considering and what Beech Tree could do was not that great. The quality difference, however, was enormous. Each step of the way, the guys at Beech Tree were thoughtful, responsive to our needs and requests, and went out of their way to make sure we were delighted with the final product. They even invited us to visit the workshop, to see the process and tools and watch our cabinets come together. We were impressed. Our carpenters were impressed, too. As the pieces arrived, the carpenters swooned over the quality of the alder, the beautiful staining, and, more importantly, the numerous structural and installation challenges that Beech Tree’s designs had already taken into consideration. Our house was built in 1917, and its got some unusual shape to it. Beech Tree took all this into consideration and more, so that at each step of installation the carpenters were discovering new thoughtful innovations that made the Beech Tree cabinets work better—not just during installation, but for the lives of the cabinets (which I think will far outstrip the life of this house!) We opted for the “flush” cabinet fronts, which required that the milling and fine-tuning of the size and shape of the cabinet doors in relation to their frames be painstakingly precise. The results are fantastic. That detail is one of many that show the mastery and finesse that Beech Tree puts into their work. Simply, we love our cabinets. We knew that the cabinets we chose would be, in some sense, the “jewel” of our new kitchen, and for that, Beech Tree was the right choice. Thanks!

While one will obviously pay more for custom cabinets, the one-of-a-kind design, craftsmanship, and custom fit that you get with a cabinet company like BTBC cannot be matched by the big box store brands of factory made cabinets. BTBC designed, built and installed custom kitchen cabinets and counter tops in our remodeled kitchen. Nic worked with us to turn our design ideas and concepts into beautiful, functional cabinetry. He offered useful design suggestions throughout the planning process that we had not thought of, but were so glad he did. The efforts of the BTBC crew should not be overlooked. They are a very talented group of cabinet makers. We are totally impressed with the quality and the precision in which they constructed and installed the cabinets. We chose euro-box style cabinets with inset doors and drawers built with baltic-birch europly plywood to go with our midcentury rambler. We can see all of the rabbet and dado joints on the exposed edges of the quality plywood. Everything is tight, square, clean, simple, and works perfectly. We know these cabinets will serve us and the future homes owners long into the future. I think that is the real point of sustainable and Nic made sure that is what we achieved. Thanks, Nic!

Nic James and his crew at Beech Tree Building constructed and installed bamboo kitchen cabinetry that is truly the crowning glory of our remodeled home. Nic worked patiently with us to incorporate all the conveniences of a modern kitchen design with a nod to the mid-century style of the original kitchen. His drawings were clear and accurate, his response time was prompt, and his creative design solutions were brilliant. He helped us to think about the smallest details that we would not have considered, which led to a continuity in design that flows from one room to the next. Nic designed and his crew built for us kitchen cabinetry and island, a complete wall of pantry cupboards, a lighted china hutch, and the vanity and linen cabinet in the master bathroom. While custom cabinetry is indeed a big investment, Beech Tree Building Company’s quality, professionalism, and responsiveness made us feel always that it was worthwhile. We are pleased and proud of the beautiful bamboo work in our home and the opportunity to work with a talented local artisan.

As we look back on the process of our major kitchen remodel, it’s clear that the decisions around cabinetry were the most critical in creating the space we wanted. We live in a 1918 craftsman. Nic and the crew at Beech Tree designed and built cabinetry that fit the era of the home while also providing modern design elements and conveniences. They used reclaimed Douglass Fir from an avalanche in Oregon and re-purposed an old butcher block into an island counter-top. Working with Beech Tree was a pleasure. Their creativity, communication and delivery were extraordinary. Like many other homeowners embarking on a kitchen remodel, we were tempted to go with manufactured cabinets and are so happy we chose to work with Beech Tree instead. Not only do we get the satisfaction of supporting a local business that uses sustainable practices, but we also have unique, beautiful cabinets that are the heart and soul of our new kitchen. Thanks Beech Tree!!!

Beech Tree Custom Cabinets provided a beautify and sustainable custom cabinet solution to our kitchen remodel, at prices well below what others charge for lesser quality. My husband loves the function built into the design and I love the beauty of the bamboo and the sustainability of the product. The design process was painless, delivery was quicker than we expected, and the icing on the cake was being able to support a Washington business. We could not be happier with the end result and will use Beechtree in any future projects.

An excellent experience and a wonderful result. Working with Beech Tree Building Company was a joy from the outset. Nic listened to us really well and captured our desires for a full set of custom, but sustainable, kitchen cabinets. It was a tremendous process and effort to complete, but Beech Tree made it effortless and quite enjoyable for us. We love our new cabinets and dont think we wouldve had anywhere near the awesome result with anyone else.
