I wanted to leave my review long ago. I decided to try and work with the post office to figure out how we can rectify the multitude of mistakes and various situations. That did not go so well. I wont outline the exacts, I am not trying to make it worse, but there are a few instances that are just plain unacceptable. We were expecting an important box to arrive. We were tracking it constantly. Right at the end of the day, when the office was no longer open, the tracking updated to say "Attempted delivery, Left note" The Poulsbo location was closed so we called the 1800 number about this notice and we were told that the package could not be delivered because our dog was out...... Our dog was boarding at the vet following surgery and was not home. Our property is also fenced and no other dogs can get in. We have had an innumerous amount of "Message Left" notes on our tracking and no note or card was left at the door or in the mailbox. One time we had to go up to the post office to inquire about a box that did not show up, they said delivery was attempted but when we reviewed our property cameras there was no postal vehicle accessing either of our very long driveways. We also discovered in the same trip, a box that had not been delivered for the holidays. we had no tracking on it, we did not know it even existed and it was sitting at the post office for almost a month with out our knowledge, it was 2 days away from being sent back to the sender and we discovered it by chance. Final words: This post office would operate better under the management of chimps.

I am only writing this review to contradict all the negatives. I have lived in Poulsbo for the greater part of my 31 years and have never had a problem that I can recall. I am in the Post Office at least once a week and am always greeted in a friendly or at the very least a professional way. Yes, I agree, getting a PO Box is difficult, they are on high demand and very hard to get in Poulsbo, generally there is a waiting list. Maybe I have always been lucky with great Mail Carriers, but if I were to end up with a poor one I would certainly inform them and am confident it would be resolved. From what I see, the Post Master is extremely friendly, attentive and very involved. I think the Poulsbo Post Office deserves 5 stars for great service, though maybe not 100% perfect all the time, but, hey, they are human too, right?

Ive lived in Poulsbo almost 15 years, and, without fail, my mail is missorted at least once a month. I get my neighbors mail and they get mine---often. Last month, the "substitute" mail carrier misplaced my package, but decided to put a notice of delivery in my mailbox anyway. A month later, and after multiple conversations with a supervisor who claimed she would call me back 4 or 5 times and never did, I finally got the old excuse, "Sorry, but there is nothing we can do. You can fill out paperwork for the postal inspector..." Yeah, thats helpful since all the postal general can do is say theyll investigate while accepting no responsibility for their employees being inadequate at their jobs. If you have a choice, I would suggest using UPS or FedEx because at least they take responsibility when they lose your stuff.

I have had lots of great experiences with the Poulsbo post office and the carriers. I do occasionally get a miss-delivery but we cant expect perfection, They are only human. My carrier goes above and beyond her normal duties. She writes us a couple times a year to update us on changes that need to be done. Such as improving a box or raising it to requirements or even to let us know to watch for children and not to let them run up to the truck. She has even checked on our elderly neighbor if the mail is not picked up. Would UPS or Fed EX do that? I am so grateful for her help throughout the year that once in a while I will leave her a cold bottle of water on a hot day or a little snack when I see her later than usual. That usually means she has more mail than regular days. I hope we never loose our carrier, Carol

Service has gone progressively downhill especially the last 5 years or so. My mail is repeatedly delivered to the wrong address. Im phoning them today as soon as they open because...again...I got a delivery notice that a package has been delivered and I did not receive it! Thats the second time this month it has happened and the 5th time this year! I mail-order my diabetes supplies and cant afford for them to be lost somewhere. Our carrier has a habit of stopping along the route to chit-chat with people and delaying delivery. No wonder the postal service is in trouble if this type of service is all over!

Poor service. They give out PO boxes every Thursday, I knew I was at or near the top of the list, and they did not bother to call. I called them and you have to apply in person! How in the heck are you supposed to let all your creditors and friends know what your new address is, before you move, when you havent moved there yet?? Last time I moved, I had a Box set up TWO weeks before I moved to give me time to let everyone know. But NOT in Poulsbo.. or is it PoulsBOO?! Hope you have better luck them I. -Gary (with home delivery, by the way.)

Honestly this location this is the worst post office I have even had to deal with. I got better service for post offices over seas. That is saying a lot. Today, the 4th of February, 2016 an employee (by the name of Dave) grabbed my cell phone with out permission to look at a taking number and got upset when I took it back. The supervisor got involved but wouldnt give me his name. I only deal with these people because I have to. This its not the first time I have had an issue with the Poulsbo Post Office, I doubt it will be the last.

I have used a P.O. Box for at least 25 years in Poulsbo, meaning I go there quite a lot. No problems at all. My only complaint and it only happened this year (2009), they did not open the service dutch door outside the lobby during the last week before Christmas for package pick up only. In the last 3 months, I have seen notices about P.O. Boxes being available. Staff is always friendly even when you can tell they have had a rough day. So one complaint in 25 years is pretty good service to me.

Cant bother opening our gate to leave packages in a safe space where no one can see them from the street. Leave us angry notes telling us to "fix" our gate. FedEx and UPS can always open our gate with no trouble. They also regularly put packages in out mailbox that we cant remove from our side because theres a ridge on our side.

Several times this year my packages have not been delivered. The places I have ordered from show the tracked items as shipped and delivered. It has only happened with my USPS items, never with items shipped via UPS or FedEx. Contacting them by phone does not work.
