1.0 star rating 8/3/2015 Their prices are higher than the dealer....I assumed they would be lower because thats the way it usually goes, but apparantly not with Pep Boys. They lure you in by promising a free diagnostic of the AC system, but its only a very superficial diagnostic. Then they ask you for $35.00 more for the more "in depth" diagnostic. Then they say they "KNOW" whats wrong with your AC and they can fix it for $172.00. So they fix it and it blows cold air for less than 24 hours. So you come back in and they say theyll look it over. And then they say the KNOW again, whats "really " wrong and they can fix it for an ADDITIONAL $472.00. But they do NOT apply the first $172.00 toward the "real" repair. Well the Infiniti Dealer DOES apply any diagnostic fees toward the "real" repair and I could have had the whole thing repaired at Infiniti and done CORRECTLY for $500.00. Where Pep Boys wanted $644.00 and it probably would have still been WRONG , because the Infiniti service guy said its "HARDLY EVER" the expansion valve thats the issue. So Pep Boys just keeps making stuff up to get more $$$ out of your pocket. But they dont know how to do the proper repair. So I paid them $172.00 and left with NOTHING....NO REPAIR. NUTSHELL - DONT WASTE YOUR $$$$ HERE - they dont know what theyre doing.

I cant speak to their abilities as digonistic mechanics, but can say they have unparalleled customer service and very reasonable prices. I was originally reluctant to take my truck here, as I have always been skeptical of the quality of mechanic at these kind of chain shops. In addition, its almost downtown and I wanted to avoid driving up there (were in West Seattle). However, they were the only shop in Seattle that was licensed to work on my wifes Prius (to maintain her lifetime power train warranty). After a few present experiences, and a lack of mechanical failures, I thought Id give it a shot for a oil change. Since then, I have been blown away by the level of customer service. I havent had any real mechanical quandaries to deal with yet (knock on wood), but from miscellaneous 50,000 mile check ups, replacing filters, electric window problems, etc. I dont think these guys can be beat. Also, for a full synthetic Pennzoil oil change, its $10 more than if I were to buy the filter and oil myself (and I dont have to deal with the waste oil). Awesome service.

I made an appointment for a "GUARANTEED 30 MINUTE OIL CHANGE" to be done during an extended lunch break, and received confirmation of the appointment. Upon arrival I was told there was upwards of a 3 hour wait because they were "backed up." Assuming they meant without an appointment, I clarified that I had one and showed them the paperwork to which I was told the 30 minutes starts when the car is taken in, NOT at the appointment time. So, in essence, the appointment making means absolutely positively ZERO since it is still up to the schedule at time of arrival? I dont think so, and if that is true then they are drastically misunderstanding the words "appointment" and "guarantee." I had to leave my car, ask a coworker to come and get me and ruin their lunch as well, and return later that evening to collect my vehicle. I was offered no apologies for the enormous inconvenience and ghost appointment making, so I will absolutely never return and will advise all of my friends not to use the appointment feature or visit Pep Boys at all.

I have used Pepe Boys from before they were Pepe Boys- Big O tires. I took my beloved Volvo there, mainly because of the great service i got from Big O in Silverdale... highly recommend there. Ive had to take my car back 4 and five follow up times for balancing... didnt realize the wheel was out of round... thats a basic check I thought, so beat me and the car to death on a long road trip with an oval tire. Last time i went, I asked to change out the engine mounts, and had them clean the throttle body. My car now stops and sputters, stalls and fails, three times since then. Took it to larrys Volvo, who immediately said; your throttle bodys dirty. Hmmpf. Thats it for me. Sorry, quitsville. I did try and like your service, but location and availability arent enough for me. I need someone who can actually work on my car, the first time, and get it done.

These guys broke my car and *lied* to get rid of me so they didnt have to repair it. I had rear brakes replaced, and when I got the car back the car was flashing STOP DRIVING and BRAKE FAILURE lights. Right in the parking lot - I didnt even leave the shop and it was clearly broken. I showed them, they screwed around for a while and finally said its unrelated. The lights kept coming on, I kept taking it back, and they kept telling me it was a total coincidence, not something they caused. In fact their manager Jesse told me it is literally impossible for them to have caused the problem. Ive had 2 other mechanics check it out and both disagree - it IS POSSIBLE JESSE and it was definitely broken by the pep-boys mechanic named Andy. DO YOURSELF A FAVOR - AVOID THIS PLACE.

Absolutely deceptive. I made an appointment for an oil change, confirmed the "30 minute oil change" and showed up on time. When I got there I was told it would be a minimum of two hours to get my car back. When I asked about the thirty minutes I was told "from when the car is on the rack." This is not what I was told when I made the appointment (I scheduled by phone). Here is the language from the Pep Boys website: "The 30 minute period starts once the customer has signed the acknowledgment of service." I had rearranged my schedule based on their commitment. When I was asked I about the guarantee there was no response. Clearly this is a regular occurrence. The minimum one star rating forced by this site is more than they deserve.

I have to say, I am extremely satisfied with the service I have received from Pep Boys (4th Ave Seattle). Being a mechanic myself, I have began not to trust any shop with my vehicles. Knowing my father ( also a mechanic ), had such good luck with Pep Boys growing up I gave them a shot. With four cars that needed tires at the same time, I was looking for a place to have them mounted and balanced. Most local tire shops had lost my business anyway ( Firestone, Les Schwab, ETC. ), but wanted upwards of $75 per set of tires. I took 16 tires, and 16 wheels to Pep Boys, the prices were great, service was great, the amount of time to do the work was amazing. Very pleased with the service, will visit more often.

I cant tell you how many times I have had issues with staff at tire shops; youre not spending enough money and/or we have a policy of not doing this or that on principle. This place is no different, it always seems like they are looking for a reason to not take on the 30-40 minutes of work I bought in. The only reason I go near them at all these days is that they are the only show in town on Sunday and that is why I gave 3 stars.
