Took my vehicle in after another local business had ruined my engine. The owner refused to waive the estimate after he told me I wouldnt be charged. I was even given my keys back, and was already driving off the lot when. The owner ran out in front of my car to try and stop me from leaving. I insisted I was going to leave, but he threatened to call the police on me for theft. Although I had absolutely no work done on the vehicle. Cops showed up when I called them, and forced him to let me go. He was trying to take advantage of a poor college kid with no money, who just had his car ruined by another service mechanic. His techs were very knowledgeable and compassionate for my situation. I cannot speak for the business as a whole, so I am just rating my experience, which you can see was a debacle in and of itself. Edit: June 19, 2012 -------------------------------- Just read the owners response. Not that Im required to post it, I do have the police report from Yelm PD as well as the printed estimate paperwork from Yelm Auto Mall. So; Mr. Owner; who here is fabricating fiction to save face? Shouldve wiped the floor with you when you tried stopping me from leaving, and then left. That wouldve been a fun story for the press, an inescapable one too.

I have been bringing my vehicles to Browns for 3-4 years. I have never had a mechanic that I have trusted as much. The staff makes certain you understand exactly what needs to be done with your vehicle (helpful for the mechanically challenged among us). Ive also been very impressed with the personal attention I receive here. It has happened more than once that Ive mentioned taking an extended road trip with my car in conversation and then there were safety issues that needed to be attended to that I was unaware of. I felt as if there was genuine interest in my wellbeing as well as my car. It has never felt like Im being sold services I dont need or prodded to have repairs done that were unnecessary. I think even if I were to move away from Roy/Yelm, I would still want to make whatever drive was necessary to continue having my vehicles serviced here.

I am in the military and deployed when my wife was told by another repair shop on base that she needed hundreds of dollars of repairs on our 2006 toyota. A friend told her about Browns Car Care in the Yelm Auto Mall she brought in the list to them and asked for a second opinion. The service guy at the desk said that they normally charge 37.50 to inspect a car but since I was deployed they would look at her car for free. It was a policy put in place by the owner for deployed military spouses. As it turned out she didnt need any of the repairs on the list. What a great bunch of people. My wife told me they have many awards from Military commands for their charity work for military families on the wall. This shop was a great find for me and other military families.

Starting the new year of 2013 my family and I have been going to Browns Yelm Auto Mall since they opened and have always received Excellent service. We have worked with Mike the owner of Browns and we have found him to be fair and courtesy to the community. My daughter was on her way to work when she started having some problems with her car. She was afraid that she would not make it to work so she brought her car to Browns. Mike loaned her a loaner car so that she could make it to work without any additional cost to her. In addition, I know that the Browns have a tight relationship with the military and for many years they have helped military families in need at Christmas time.Sincely;Donna McMurtray

I bought a car from Browns Yelm Auto Mall and it was a complete nightmare. The car was a complete lemon. I paid over $18K for a used Jeep, and within a week, I found out the engine had a cracked head, and would have to be replaced. The dealer suggested that it was my "poor driving" and that he couldnt stay in business giving away free engines. I then had the car towed to a Jeep dealer, and they told me that the head had been cracked prior to my purchase and that the Jeep had also been likely been in an accident I knew nothing about. Dont trust these guys- youd be better off just burning your money. It cost me over $4000 to fix and now I cant even sell the car for half of what I paid for it- a month later.

Same as always, EXCELLENT I took my 2005 Explorer in for maintenance service that was recommended after an oil change last month. They changed the serpentine belt and flushed and refilled the power steering unit. I expected the job to take a few hours -- but I got a call my vehicle was ready just 90 minutes later. The price was very reasonable. I recommend Browns Car Care to anyone looking for an honest, reliable and reasonably priced auto repair business.

I have taken my vehicles here for many years and have always experienced excellent service. Browns is a quality car care center that does quick and exceptional work at a fair price. I trust taking my vehicles here and enjoy the loaner car service they provide. They really go above and beyond for their customers, providing a family atmosphere and amenities not typically found at most repair facilities. I cant imagine taking my business any where else.

They were rude when I first got there, since my car was dead I had them look at the engine. They lied saying the timing belt was broken, tried charging me 1000 to fix it. Brought it home instead, ends up it was a completely unrelated part broken, which if they had replaced my timing belt it would have been fixing a working part and then I would have had to fix another part probably costing me 4x the worth of the car. Dont recommend going here.

Yelm Auto Mall was great! I was traveling and had some trouble with my vehicle and had strict time limits for when my family needed me home and important time-sensitive work obligations the next day and Mike Brown, the owner, came and spoke with me personally and cleared the mechanics schedule to make sure I was able to travel home on time! Amazing service! The kind you dont find often anymore. Im so impressed and very grateful. Thanks Mike!

Poor communication..... my wife took her car here first thing in the morning. When they last talked to her shortly after noon, they told her they would try to finish by the end of the day. She tried calling towards the ends of the day to get an update, but could get through. Nobody bothered to call her and let her know they werent able to finish, and now shes stranded without a car tonight, and Im out of town.

Ive taken my vehicles to Browns for years for routine maintenance and repairs. I have always been impressed with the knowledge and integrity of the staff. They give true estimates and advice, and dont try to "sell" you on services that arent necessary. The work has always been done right the first time. And, they will give you a ride if you need to be somewhere. I cant say enough good things about Browns!
