Avoid this Midas. This has been the most unprofessional car mechanic I have been to. The mechanic I spoke with did not articulate what the problems with my car were and was very confusing when trying to estimate the costs of the repairs. My situation: I was driving on the highway when my wheel froze up, gas pedal locked up and the engine shut off forcing me to coast across 3 lanes of traffic to the shoulder. My car started back up again and I took it straight to the nearest auto repair shop which was this Midas. I dropped off my car before the shop closed for a diagnostic. The following day I received a call quoting me at $3,500 for my $8,000 Buick LeSabre. They told me I needed to repair my rear air pump shocks for $483, the shock mounting kit for $50, left front hub bearing for $458 with a $158 service fee, $687 for new body control module, cluster control for $620, new battery for $190 and the diagnostic for $105. A total of $2751 isnt close to $3,500. I had to pry the individual costs from the mechanic and he had trouble giving me the exact costs. Why was the cost so high before I got the individual costs? I returned to Midas the next day to pick up my car after they replaced my battery and rear air shocks and meet a different employee at the desk. I give him my information and he asks If I just want the keys. I tell him that I want my car too. Then he looks at my info and says "ok youre good to go". I never paid or gave credit card info to them. They were going to let me walk out the door with what they thought was $3,500 of work without checking if I paid. I tell him I never paid and he brings up the bill to $3,500. I look at his screen and it lists the repairs that I specifically said not to do. I tell him this and he just deletes them from the list, just taking my word and I pay $771 for the repairs I wanted done. I promptly took my car to a firestone to have them see if I really do need those other parts and if Midas actually performed any maintenance on my car at all.

I had just moved to this area a couple weeks ago. I have always had a family friend as a mechanic where I used to live in Madison who took honest care of our vehicles. I was worried I could not find a shop with the same customer service appreciation that my old shop had, as well as the general automotive knowledge. The issue that brought me to this Midas location was my check engine light. After making an appointment, I brought my vehicle in and they took about an hour to look it over. At one point, Alec, had multiple people looking at my car to identify the problem. He took my car for two test drives and came back in to inform me that I had bought bad gas, and to stop buying gas at wherever I was going. This made since because ever since I moved, I had been going to the same gas station on the way to work. He only charged me for the initial diagnostic which was reasonable to me. A week later I brought my car in for a TPMS issue and they fixed it as well. My car has been issue free ever since. As a note to their customer service, while waiting in their lounge, an associate was helping an individual whom English was not their first language. He responded carefully and ensured the customer understood the procedures and costs associated with the service. He even helped the customer call a third party to communicate the sale of his broken vehicle. This is how business should be done. I have been thoroughly impressed by this midas location as well as the employees who work in it. To the corporate head reading this, Alec deserves recognition for his knowledge and customer service skills. This location will receive my business for as long as I am in Milwaukee and similarly the people I recommend to it. They are honest, efficient, and kind people who enjoy communicating and solving issues.

My husband and I brought our car to Midas to get suspension work done, when the work was completed my husband picked up the car, within an hour he had an extremely difficult time steering the wheel and brought the car back to Midas to tell them about the problem, they said the issue didnt need fixing immediately but that we would eventually need to have the rack and pinion replaced, my husband and I were both furious because 1. Having a difficult time steering the wheel is a HUGE deal and 2. This wasnt an issue at all whatsoever beforehand We were both very angry knowing something was wrong, and the fact that we just spent almost $1800 for the suspension repairs- my husband spoke to a manager and took the car back the next day and refused to leave until they fixed it. After taking another look the manager said that they take responsibility for what happened and will fix a certain amount but that wed still have to come out of pocket $150- my husband refused to pay and demanded to speak to the general manager in which he was refused. The manager at that time was rude and argued with my husband yet my husband remained and said he wouldnt leave until they fixed the rack and pinion since it WAS NOT a prior issue- after long they finally fixed it which took 8-9 hours while my husband was there waiting the whole time. I am one who is big on reading and researching reviews and for some reason I completely forgot to do so for this specific business which is a huge mistake on my part- regardless of the location if I wouldve read the reviews- we wouldve never brought our vehicle here!! Huge headache and a waste of so much unnecessary time. Im saddened that this was our experience but its an experience neither of us will ever forget.

Simple oil change - scheduled appointment. Told it would be an hour. Isnt an hour a little long? Perhaps not, but with scheduled appointment, youd think it would be no brainer. Well I was there 1.5 hrs which impacted my day from that point on. I could tell right when I got in that they were busy, and wondered why not call person with scheduled appointment and let them know it might be longer than originally stated. I also felt that sense of price gouging that some auto service places will engage in. I wasnt charged more than anticipated, but had the familiar experience of person working on your car coming out and saying (I paraphrase), "something is wrong. We can fix it today. It will only be additional x dollars." I said, give me a typed report, Ill reschedule and well go from there. During time of payment, I asked to go over item brought to my attention earlier, and different staff member cited a different item wrong with my car. Neither of these items were immediate need but both items that are worthy of being noted to customer. It truly seemed and felt like like ploy to get more money from me, rather than "we want to do right by you and your car." Keep in mind I was there for over an hour and got to see how they handled similar items with about half dozen customers. The good that I can cite is that the work did feel like it was done by quality service techs and the waiting area is okay (even while I had to listen to 1.5 hrs of country music. Ugghh!)
