I went in to Pep Boys to take advantage of a deal on tires. In the process of doing the alignment I requested, the mechanics experienced a problem with my car. Ill admit that I was disappointed with the issue, but at the same time, I was completely floored because these guys had the integrity to stop the work they were doing and problem-solve through the issue with me. To be honest, if the mechanic working on my car had not approached me on this, I never would have been aware of the problem. He was willing to deal with a little bit of a mess in order to treat me right and be sure that my car was good to go. Not only did the mechanic working on my car check in with me, but the chief mechanic followed-up as did the store manager. In fact, they worked as a team with me and in doing so, earned my trust. They did not try to oversell, or push a solution, but rather, accepted the responsibility to make things right, even at a cost to them! On top of that, we waited for service. Each and every person working on my car not only acknowledged me, but they spoke kindly to my toddler and even engaged with her as she worked on sitting still for the hours it took us to get through the problem. If you are looking for folks to treat you like family and go above and beyond, stop by and see Eddy and the team. Ill admit that it was tough to get a phone call through to them to get a quote on service, but in the hours that I waited, it became obvious why -- whoever stood at that front desk for service was first priority. I appreciated that. Oftentimes, folks are so busy trying to get business that they never do business -- these guys were just the opposite. I was so floored to be treated with genuine care that I called up the chain-of-command at Pep Boys with the idea that I wanted to share with Eddys manager about the work they did. I was quite certain that John would not bother to give me the time of day; on the contrary, he called back within an hour and took the time to really hear me out. I was impressed to realize that these folks were really about treating their customers with integrity all the way. If you need service on your car, give these guys a try and let them know how they are doing. They will listen and work things through with you while keeping an eye out for your best interest.

My wife and I have used Pep Boys for at least 5 years. We get our tires there and occasionally a repair that I cannot do myself. We have even recommended friends and family there. Recently we had to rake my wifes Transit Connect in because one of the tires we purchased several months ago went flat while my wife who is a courier was working. Our roadside assistance sent someone to put the spare on so I went online to schedule a repair that Saturday. We dropped the car off friday night and by 1 pm on Saturday we had not heard from them so I called and was told that they found a nail in the tire and repaired it at no cost. We were out of town so my daughter in law picked up the vehicle for us. While putting gas in it on Sunday I looked and noticed the spare tire was still on the front so I checked the back where the spare goes and our new tire was still there and still flat. I called the manager on Monday who expressed his apologies and said he would get to the bottom of it. My wife had to drive to Mississippi for her job on a spare tire so he said to have her bring it straight in when she got back. My wife got there and was told by the assistant that the tech had taken the nail out of the spare tire but when my wife said she wanted to see the place it was plugged the story changed to nothing had been done because there was no nail. They finally took the bad tire and plugged it insinuating that there had been no nail but that we must have punctured the tire ourselves. We were not charged for anything but the fact that we were told a lie about removing a nail from a tire that was not flat and my wife had to drive six hours on a spare tire creating a potentially dangerous situation for her is inexcusable. We used Pep Boys because we could get 6 months interest free financing, but we will be searching for another financing avenue in the future.

I originally went to pep boys because the had a 19.99 full service oil change special. I made and appointment online more than 3 hours In advance and it was confirmed. I got there and they said they just accidentally looked over ticket and they would have to reschedule my appointment 2.5 hours later.(it was a literal ticket that prints out in from the the main computer) I came back 2.5 hours later.I waiting a while... then the guy came in and told me the oil dip stick was broken off and stuck in the tubing... this was very odd because it was not broken a couple weeks ago when we changed the battery.... he said it would be two days and he could only get a dip stick from the dealer and it would be $50... I asked if advanced auto parts would have one. He reluctantly called, and they had one. He gave me a total of $208 to take out the broken dipstick, and put in a new one, and the original oil change . $150 for labor! $37 for a dipstick!! I walked over to advanced auto parts and bought the dipstick they were trying to sell me for $12... yes pep boys tried to mark up a dipstick more than three time the price! I went home and took the broken dipstick out my self costing me $15 (12 for dip stick 3 for needle nose pliers) On top of this the manager was a terrible customer service rep and talked to me as if I was a gullible idiot that would just pay $208 without asking questions.

DO NOT GO HERE. They will rip you off every time! This is the stereotypical dishonest car repairmen, plus they do a terrible job at the repairs! My first time there was for an oil change and tire rotation/balance. It caused my steering wheel to shake terribly. When I took it back they said it was because my tires needed to be replaced. Of course all they had in stock were the very most expensive tires. I was leaving for a long trip the next day and had to buy them. At my next oil change I suddenly had an oil leak. We bought our minivan new in 2003 and have never had oil leak before. So I had the next oil change place correct the leak. By now Ive wasted so much money at Pep Boys that I have enough reward points for a free oil change. Stupid me got an oil change at pep boys. Guess what? Suddenly they give me an estimate for a $544 repair that would risk my life if I didnt do it immediately. To make it worse, they couldnt redeem my points to pay for the oil change because the Pep Boys website doesnt work to log into your account. Even with my email and member ID# they said they cant redeem the points without a barcode Id get after logging in. Ive been calling customer service and getting the run around with no resolution. They told me to call corporate to figure it out. And....my van is leaking oil again!
