Had barcode on key chain for other car. Asked if they could look me up using my phone number, which they did...then they asked me for my ID, which I had left in trunk of my car. I asked them if my picture looked like me, and was told "yes, it does...but our policy is if you do not use barcode, you must show your ID...we need your ID." I asked why that was necessary if my picture in their system looked EXACTLY like me, and was told it was "policy". I walked out to my car, got my ID, presented, walked back out to my car and put it back in the trunk. When I reentered the club, I asked for the manager - turns out he was the guy sitting right behind the girl at the front. He asked if he "could help me" and I told him to process my cancellation - and he looked surprised(!). I joined Golds that day...$10 to sign up, $25 a month and I can go to any club. The problem with the Laveen LA fitness is poor management, poor maintenance of the machines with electronics - a number of the eliptical machines have either broken monitors or non-functional heart rate sensors, so they exits the program setting and revert to manual. It was tolerable for awhile, but after the "ID" experience, its clear to me that no one there has got a clue.

I have been going for here for several months, usually at least 4-5 times a week. Recently had a minor run in with a fellow member. As I sat down at the machine, he hollered at me, saying that he was using it? As he was stating this, he was on another machine. I might add that how he addressed me wasn’t polite, and was skating on the intimidating. Instead of "getting" into things, I thought it might be best to have the gym inform him that one cant occupy two or more pieces of equipment at once. What a shock, they said that this is NOT in their policy? So to put things bluntly, you are able to put "dibs" on equipment. Since it is not in their policy, one can have several machines that they can use at once? Tying things up for long periods of time. So be aware that someone might try and monopolize equipment and even try to intimidate you at this location......since it is not against their policy this might happen everywhere. LA Fitness, condones such. I understand why places like Planet Fitness come to be? No one wants to have to defend their occupation of a stupid piece of gym equipment, but if the gym can’t have a policy to back you up, one might think that this isnt the place for them?

Actual gym and equipment is great, but im giving it two stars because i signed up for the kids club (i have a 7 months old and a three year old) and after i droped my kids off 25 min into my workout they called me to come pick them up because my baby was crying and i guess couldnt handle him. I walked in and i noticed that they had him in the swing (not swinging!!) while they had the rest of the kids including other babies in the play area. i had fed my baby right before going there clean diaper and all. all they probably had to do was pay some attention to him and play with him as well, because he stoped crying as soon as they pulled him out of the swing to hand him to me. as i was holding him trying to IDK calm him down although he wasnt crying anymore they had my other toddler all ready to go and opening the door for her... I felt like I was getting kicked out of LA fitness. They didnt even try to give it a second try or explain why there are babies but not ours in play area..Rude lady said " Sometimes theres only soo much we could do" and walked away...So if you have kids and want to pay $80 a month to workout for 25min then this is the gym for you...

As far as the location itself, its very convenient for me. They have a decent amount of equipment, but never enough to go around with the large amount of people always there. The layout isnt great and even when theyre not busy it feels crowded. Machines, weight benches, etc. are cramped together and theres nowhere besides the area past the basketball courts to do stretching and other exercises not directly related to screaming and machine slamming. Cannot comment much on the staff but they all seem relatively friendly, although they dont seem to care much for their equipment. I saw some adolescent banging around a machine using it incorrectly and 2 staff members who walked by just stared and kept walking. The whole place seems really dirty as well. Ive only ever seen one sanitation worker around cleaning, and even then they were scarcely seen. If there were less obnoxious and rude people around I might enjoy it, but even thats a stretch. Overall the whole place smells like sweat city. Found a place by my work that is $5 less a month, same equipment, cleaner, and barely anyone ever there compared to this place. See ya.

I pay $200/month for personal training w/a Master Trainer. For several months, they didnt have a Master Trainer due to high turnover (because they dont treat their employees well). Naturally, my prepaid sessions accumulated, but upper mgmt gave me the run-around for months & wouldnt grant me extra time to complete my prepaid sessions! They made ridiculous offers like asking me to pay an additional $50/month to "allow" me time to complete my sessions or downplaying the Master Trainer title so that they could have me train with less experienced trainers (while I still paid the more expensive Master Training pkg cost). They refused to simply downgrade my training membership so I could accept training from the less experienced trainers or simply give me more time to complete my training, which wouldnt have cost them anything. LA Fitness is generally a terribly-equipped gym with horrendous customer service all the way to the top of the ladder. Dont waste your money here.

This gym is absolutely disgusting!!! At 5:00am, no one should have to workout around trash, cleaning supplies are always out of stock, and pool area is on another different level of disgusting. I have addressed it with the manger, and he stated they were making changes. Since that phone call it appears that it has declined even more. I was trying to get a friend to join and I told her never mind because it was so embarrassing. Having your staff arrive to clean the same time it opens, or not having your night staff clean before they leave is being cheap/lazy and LA Fitness charges enough for memberships fees to pay someone to come early or stay late so members can have somewhat of a decent place to work out. Stop being CHEAP and LAZY! Time to move with everyone else...PF

Staff is mostly lazy. They sit at their desks playing on their phones. The greeter is usually nice, however and always says hi and bye. They have a huge re-racking problem, 75% of the time weights are missing or scattered throughout the gym because people dont put them back where they belong. Bathrooms are almost always clean as is the center. But the employees instead of twittering could be monitoring the floor and making sure weights are put back where they belong and start giving out warnings/suspensions to those that dont. They do have a great variety of weight machines. I normally have to go before 4pm, after that time, good luck on getting on anything, it is very overcrowded full of disrespectful minorities.
