Realistically, people usually only write a review after they had one lousy experience, simply forgetting all of the other memorable and great times. If its not a bad review, then the guest must be anxious to promote the business in question. Any other reviewer (3 star range people), usually just have too much time on their hands. I happen to be the reviewer who had a fantastic time coming to this gym. Now of course when you go to Mountainside fitness you are bound to see a bunch of punk, pretty boys; the city is full of old people so the kids who arent smoking pot are at the local gym getting ripped to feel as if they are their on-screen role-model. Aside from the punks who take 10-minute breaks at this gym on the bench because they are doing too much weight to begin with/talking with their friends, there are actually some pretty cool people here. You will feel comfort in joining this gym mainly because of the excellent staff. They always check you in and give you what has been lost in society; eye contact, as well as wishing you a great workout. The staff is always willing to educate newcomers on how to train and will work with you on your own fitness plan. If you want to go to a gym that has a staff that makes you feel as if youre at home, Id definitely recommend this Surprise location of Mountainside to you.

I have been a member of Mountainside for over 5 years. I love the amenities and always get a great workout. The Surprise branch have some of the best staff.. including Colleen, Jennie, Ryan, Kristen & Anthony. They are all assets to the company... so the three stars are for these wonderful people and the amenities....now for the lack of the other two stars is because of corporate and the Jedi mind trick corporate is trying on the members. Every time they make improvements to the gym, we as members can expect to see some type of increase somewhere!!! While everyone is so caught up and excited about the new changes and equipment in the gym they slide in some type of cost somewhere else on the members. So theyre not doing anything major for the members since we end up paying for the improvements and changes anyway! So now with the most recent improvements they have increased membership AGAIN and theyve added this new processing fee when you renew a canceled membership...which is absolutely ridiculous for snowbirds or like me someone that travels a lot and need to cancel my account while Im gone. So sad that those in corporate continue to get richer while pulling the okie doke on the members. Im not falling for the Jedi mind trick, I see what theyre doing.

I was looking to freeze my account, since I am pregnant and havent been able to use my membership. I called and spoke to Josh who told me there is not a fee to put my account on pause and when I asked about a cancellation fee he said it would be $170. I then go into the club to see about freezing my membership and then the guy at the front then tells me my husband will have to pay $10 a month even though we are on the same account. I talked to my husband and we decided to just pay the $170 and cancel. He then directs me back to Josh, who is the one I spoke to on the phone. They now change their mind and say that theres no charge at all to freeze my account and that its not $170 to cancel its over $600!! I ask why all of a sudden did it change and Josh states " I gave you wrong information". the blonde girl Jenny sitting next to him starts saying how I can sell my account on craigslist etc and it would be $600 to cancel my membership. Mountainside Fitness is not a high class gym, I find it extremely hard to believe its over $600 to cancel it. I then get home and call/email MSF and request a copy of my contract. They neglected to reply to me or send me an email of my contract after they said they would over the phone!! worst service I have ever had !

This is a awesome gym the staff is super nice and the kids care staff are great to.The only problem I had was that me and my kids got hand foot and mouth from this location.I am really good with making my kids sterilize there hands after we leave ever time, myself as well. The reason I know we got it from there is because me and my children went to see a doctor and the first thing they said was do you go to mountainside fitness here in Surprise, because there are other people who have got it from there. I honesty have never heard of hand foot and mouth but its not fun are finger nails were falling off on are hands and feet along with some peeling to.I would not wish that on anyone, when I ask them they said they had a incident but it wasnt there anymore or something like that.I had to pay to get out of my contract wich is crazy considering what me and my kids went through and we were there every day.I really enjoyed the gym and so did my kids I wish when that stuff happens they would notify everyone in the gym they should have someone constantly cleaning the kids stuff and gym equipment im sad we had to leave due to that incident, so becarful its very contagious.

We have worked out at this gym for about a year now. I really love the staff. I mostly do group fitness. There are lots of different classes to choose from. There is everything from mind and body classes to high intensity cardio classes. The locker room is really nice. It has both wet and dry saunas, showers, free use lockers, and there is a place to get ready for the day. The child care is nice it has a bounce house, outdoor play, video games (in a separate area for older children) and movies, plus lot of toys for the little ones. I have seen the staff clean the toys regularly and there always seems to be enough staff to watch the kids. The only thing that keeps me from giving the gym 5 stars is the fact that the mind and body room is way to close to the other group fitness rooms and you can hear the music from the other classes in that room. It can be very distracting to hear loud music in the other room when you are trying to get your Zen on. If you are joining this gym for just mind and body I would recommend you looked for a pure mind and body studio. However, the awesome teachers (practical Nat Moore) almost make up for the music problem.

The only pro about this facility is they offer squat racks and barbells, but dont expect to use chalk. Outside of that...This gym is mediocre at best. It is a large facility, but most of that space is taken up by treadmills and weight machines. The 2 50x50 areas they have for doing barbell work is poorly setup and generally used as a warm-up area for the yoga or spin classes. Numerous times wed be in a middle of a workout and people would come in and use our stuff or move into our area. The other free space is over-utilized for the peak performance classes. They will limit access to a large majority of equipment for 4 people to use 1 kb each, while the classrooms will remain vacant and we get stuck with turning around and going home. Free coffee is available...But thats if you like air and coffee grinds; its almost always empty. No way to clean the equipment after you use it either which Im all for doing my part to help clean up my space and sanitize my sweat even though the other members leave the place a mess.
