For I gym that I have devoted eight years of my life attending, to now having to encounter numerous different racial profiling situations, I will not just let it go unnoticed. In the past this facility has allowed in a countless number of new workers who have no customer service experience at all to manage an already dysfunctional front desk. There used to be an older blonde woman who would swipe your card and then hold it up in the air to create some kind of spectacle to humiliate you when nothing was wrong with your account to begin with. Their used to be a shorter brunette who was notoriously known for being so rude that people would just walk past her without swiping in their cards just to avoid confrontation. There were numerous new faces behind that front desk who you would never see again because all they did was talk amongst themselves and act like no one else existed. In addition to that, whenever you go towards one of the side offices to complain youll just get someone who could careless and use phrases such as "Ill allow you to go in" as if you needed permission or "Im not at liberty to discuss that" if so then what exactly do you do? So keeping in mind these horrific past experiences, I attend this gym with the mindset that I should expect nothing greater in regards to customer service, because they have for years lacked in that department. So when I went in on August 27th, I approached the front desk with my card in hand idly waiting in line. When it was my turn I handed my card over to a woman, who later claimed she was the manager (Kate) but yet no one else has ever seen her before, and she went ahead and swiped my card. She took one look at the screen and then looked me dead in my eyes and had the nerve to say that I cant work out here. Mind you that she didnt try to double check my account or even see that my name has been in that system for the past 8 years, so I took offense to her lack of cooperation. I was forced to stand there like some adolescent child that was lying when all I was doing was trying to work out. There came a point where I had to raise my voice just to get someone else to assist me because no one else had the nerve to take it upon themselves to do so. She acted in such a classless and vindictive manner that she had the nerve to look down upon me as if I cant afford a membership and that I was trying to sneak in. Finally after some time I was approached by an assistant sales manager, Bert Flemming, who tried to deescalate the situation. He approached her and had to tell, "Dont worry they work out here". He walked me over to his office and assisted me with my card. He found that my account had a medical hold on it because I temporarily paused it because I had surgery done on my right knee. I had to explain to him that that hold should have been taken off weeks ago because i have been working out for the past two months He was able to help me with no problem but he still was not someone who was capable to rectifying the situation. He spoke to me as the middle man and didnt care much for the extra details because he didnt want to have to answer to Kate. So looking at this situation from a corporate stand point I can say that they were both negligent in handling a situation that should have never occurred to begin with. Neither one of them has taken responsibility for their actions and no apologies have been issued. After an experience like that, I spoke with other members of that gym who I see regularly, and they all told me stories of their own about that front desk and how they dont cooperate well with people of color. From here I will let Lifetimes corporate office about this situation and then the NAACP from then on.

Let me start by saying that Ive been going to various gyms all around the country for about a decade and this was by FAR the worst experience Ive ever had at any gym. . . Went there to check the place out since I recently moved to the area and was looking for a gym to join. The account manager, Jorge Z quickly noticed I was new and eagerly wanted to show me around the place, but refused to tell me any prices until after we walked the entire building, I thought that was odd but agreed to walk around while listening to his used car salesman like speech. Towards the end of the walk he asked if I had any kids because there is a unisex/family changing room, I said no and that I dont have any reason to go in there. He insisted that we go in anyway and of course there was a mother and her young daughter getting changed, I have NEVER felt so uncomfortable before in my life!! After he showed me the various things such as rock climbing wall, water slides, multiple giant pools, barber shop, convince store etc. He gave me a 3 day pass and said I can come whenever I want because there open 24 hours for the next 3 days to try the place out.(The next day I was denied access because they dont allow guests after 9pm, it was 9:30)... Once I started working out it was apparent that this gym doesnt actually care about your fitness: 1. The dumbell selection is smaller than that of a Planet Fitness. 2. The dumbell grips are all different sizes (a safety issue). 3. The machines are terrible quality and there is only 1 of each, as well as only 2 bench presses (but 6 water slides, really?!?!) 4. The smallest ares in the entire building is the weight area! How can they call themselves lifetime fitness if their only priority is to look good on paper and sign you up rather than make it possible to lift weights safely???.. Also, every piece of equipment was covered in sweat because nobody cleans up apparently, gross. This is not a gym where you go if you have any sort fitness goals; it is a spa type center where you go to relax by the pool and get a haircut on your way out. If youre an overweight 50 year old man whos wife is nagging about not being apart of a gym then this is for you! Instead of working out you can lay by the pool and eat food from the convince store within the building before getting a haircut! Ridiculous.

I have worked out here for 6 years. Here are some of the things I have experienced: -Triathlon program is on point. From masters swim classes to the morning run club to the studio cycle and outdoor cycling groups. I used these services to prepare for and complete 3 Ironman competitions. - Group fitness classes are inclusive and supportive. I did several group programs. There were a wide variety of people taking them with different levels of fitness. No one was left out, everyone supported each other, and it was a lot of fun. - Personal training has been very expensive, sometimes overpriced sometimes perfect. I have had 5 trainers here. Three were not very competent, I did not continue long with them and they did not keep their jobs. 2 of the trainers I had were amazing and helped me reach some pretty lofty fitness goals. I continue to recommend Kayla and Geoff regularly because they are worth the investment. - Treadmills/cardio equipment is plentiful and you will never have to wait. - Lifting area (free weights and Olympic platforms) not enough space or equipment. If you come at a bad time you will be stuck waiting. - Pools indoor and outdoor are family friendly and very clean. - Mens showers need better ventilation, they smell terrible in the morning when crowded. - Sales team is always walking around with new clients. They use a standard sales system. Before I joined, I didnt do the tour, I just got a visitor pass and checked the place out. So I dont really have an impression of the sales team. I do know this is a business. They have to make sales. -Locker room is ok. Needs new lockers. -Cafe service is great and the food is healthy and fresh I saved the childcare for last. I have children w special needs. It is not easy to find a place where I feel safe to leave them in someone elses care for fear of bullying and embarrassment. The childcare at lifetime fitness is very special. The staff goes above and beyond to provide a supervised safe space. I am thankful that they do such a great job. I will continue to go here till it closes or I die. Even if I have to wait for the free weights.
