Ive seen the reviews on this page and feel that this Pep Boys is misrepresented by them. What matters to me when I look for a mechanic is finding one I can trust. Pep Boys has always been up front with me with the prices and the status of the work they are doing. They have improved a lot on customer service too. I just had pretty expensive work done on my car. I went in pretty confident it was a certain issue--I checked online on various websites and forums. It turned out to be a different issue and even though I asked them to fix what I thought was wrong, they called me to let me know they found the actual problem. The price went up a bit, and naturally my first thought was they were trying to rip me off. If they wanted to rip me off, they could have gone with my "expert diagnosis" and fixed what I told them to and I would still be left with a messed up car. Instead they were up front that it was a slightly more expensive fix, but they assured me that they were certain that was the cause of the noise on my car. After I picked it up, the car is fine and I just found out that their parts are covered by a life-time warranty. Finding a mechanic you can trust is hard. They are the experts and you are basically at their disposal when it comes to the cost and diagnosis. This causes me to get defensive oftentimes and blame the mechanic for the frustration and uncomfortable feeling I get from being in such a vulnerable position. With that said, I have had great experiences here and Im very pleased with the work they do. I really appreciate the extra effort their customer service went to give me reassurance along the way.

i own a 300zx and it was in perfect conditions b4 i brought it here. the only reason i came here is cuz they had a"good"offer and with this offer they gave a free oil change.this is my 1st car and i didnt know much about cars until now. 1st thing their r way cheaper places then pep boys you just need to find them. yes its hard but trust me its worth it. most of the guys that work in this pep boys and most pep boys r so unexperienced. for everyone out there i am not bullshitting anyone ur all better off going somewhere else. ur car is ur money maker cuz without ur car,and this apply for most,dont really have a ride to work.just everyone take time and find the right place for ur car and for u. stay away from pep boys!!!

Terrible service So i went in and there was no one in the cash register two employees were talking with each other in the middle of the store when i asked for a battery then i bought it. i asked why they were charging more and both the manger and the employee said it was becuase the tax i had added it and with tax it should still they looked like me like i was dumb so i retured it and went to autozone (by Parmount and Florence excellent service there) there they explained about the core charge. Summary the two pep boys employees that work Saturday at 7:30pm are lazy and rude.

One employee told me not to use their website to make an appointment because theyre short staffed. He also advised me to call back closer to the time I want to have an oil change done to see if theyre going to have enough time. He mentioned they may not be able to finish lol what? An oil change! You need to keep my car overnight to finish an oil change in the morning? Good grief. So I called back after work when I was in the area and a different man encouraged me to make an appointment lol Im done! Can you guys get on the same page? Geez

Woow i was looking for a simple gasket for my car.... went to the parts counter and was help by the PARTS MANAGER worst service ever! this guy was to busy on his phone to even look at me to ask what i needed i had to wait for him to finish texting on his phone to get help so i left, wont ever be back to this pep boys again... next time go to AUTOZONE i did and the service was great and the part was actually cheaper than at pep boys!

I will never ever come to this pep boys ever again! Either they forgot me or skipped me but I waited over two hours for an oil change! How hard can an oil change be??? I saw people behind me on line leaving waaaay before me and to top it off they wouldnt sell me a scooter because it was a floor model! Who doesnt want to make a sale regardless!!! Glad I live in San Diego and never have to see this place again!!! Horrible!!!

First of all they took all day for a diagnostic test which was suppose to take a couple hours and they didnt call me when they were done, I had to call. When they told me about the cost for the repairs it was suspicious and ridiculously overpriced . So I decided to take it to another auto repair shop just to find out that the mechanical problem was caused by something entirely different and it was cheaper.

I dont understand why their website said they snow chains. I drive down here, look around the store, get Im line to ask where the snow chains are, store rep asked me if I needed help. I explained my situation and my tire size only to be told there are no snow chains here at this location but to go to the Cerritos location. If I had known that I would not have driven this way. Im so annoyed.

Pep boys is running a great campaign.. "free tire rotation with any service". So I got an oil change and asked for them to rotate my tires. When I got the bill I got almost home before I realized they tacked on an extra $10 for the oil change. This isnt the first time this is happened at a Pep Boys. Its really sad, they are otherwise a good company

There is nothing I dislike more than calling a company and having to deal with a computer instead of a human. It took almost 10 mins to get through the computer and a long hold of annoying rock music after talking to a human to answer the question of whether they carried bike parts or not. Im sticking with the locals.

My experience with this Pep Boys (Downey) has been great. They always confirm with me before doing the job AND they always show me what was removed and replaced after doing the job.....a tiny bit pricy, but very worth it. So far I trust them.

I always come here to get my oil changes and alignment done. The waiting area for car maintenance is always clean and they always get the job done quickly. For no additional charge they also check to see if anything else needs my attention.

They wouldnt even bother helping me out with my car. I paid for them to check my car because it had a check engine light so they did a diagnostics. 1 month later my car got the check engine light again. Very unsatisfied.
