I went to A-1 lube & tune today to get my recently purchased commuter car checked out. I also had them take a look at the gas tank door that was broken. I returned to pick up my and was so shocked to hear a mechanic tell me that I DIDNT need any work done. He mentioned that the brake pads had dust which explained the noise I was hearing when I hit the breaks. They fixed that noise AND fixed the gas tank door at no charge because he said it "only took a few minutes, and I didnt even use any tools". It was incredibly refreshing to find a mechanic that was so honest. I usually leave feeling ripped off. BTW, I went to the honda dealer yesterday and was quoted $97(starting price) to fix the gas tank door that took A-1 a few minutes to fix and at no charge. . . Just to be nice. I highly recommend this mechanic shop and will definitely be back for future service!!!!

Ive been dealing with Jim and A1 Lube and Tune for at least 7 years now and I have always been very happy with the service. Jims had plenty of opportunities to over charge me, but never has, Ive done dozens of smog checks and oil changes with him and I trusted him to install an aftermarket clutch and flywheel in my BMW M3. He did not charge me anything extra just because its a BMW. The only drawback to A1 is that they are often pretty busy, and it pays to call ahead! Please keep in mind that there is another business called A1 Lube and Tune in Montclair, they are located in Jims old location on Mission Blvd.

having always worked on my own cars I have learned to have a huge distrust in Mechanics. Especially when you show up in a coat and tie. Jim has erased those fears. He does a great job on every job and at a fair price. I live about 30 miles away and every time I pick up my car ( never for the same reason) I always meet people that live further than me that have been coming to Jim for decades. There many mechanics that can do a proficient job, but trust is what makes me give him my car problems and referrals

I was almost deterred by the good reviews, thinking the place might be very crowded - no such trouble, though, and the oil change took under 30 minutes. Good, nice people here, and the oil-change trip was in no way a chore. Everyone seemed knowledgable and skilled, but maybe thats to be expected. I was charged $5 less than Jim initially quoted because my car only took 4 quarts. I guess thats as much honesty as theres room for in such a routine visit!

LOW PROFILE BUT A PRO! - i had my 90 acura integras AC checked here and was told that it just needs freon. all the while i was in the impression that my compressor is bad or it had a bad leak. Jim was honest enough to tell me that it just needs a recharge and surely it blew COLD after that! is not about the money here! I will be back!

Jim and his mechanics at A-1 Lube and Tune are top notch! Theyre NOT like any other repair shop where they try and over sell unnecessary services. Jim and his guys only fix what is needed and only make necessary recommendations. I wont take my truck anywhere else. Jim, you and your mechanics are the best!

Been going to Jim for over 20 years. My dad was a former aircraft mechanic and used to do alot of his own engine work. He only trusted Jim as he got older. Honest and fixes only whats necessary. Pep Boys quoted $1,200 of suspension work to align my car, Jim $400.00. Hes honestly like a member of my family.

Jim is truly an honest mechanic. Only one flaw. He is always so BUSY.. If you can deal with how much work the shop gets which means it will probably take him a little longer with your car, then you are golden.. HONESTY at its best!! Very good mechanic..
