I actually like this gym more than more others, simply because I feel more comfortable here. Theres plenty of space to work out and the people are usually friendly and easy to talk to.. I do a lot of free weights, then machines so Ive never really had a problem finding a exercise to do. The guys locker room gets really humid at times, but that does really bother me (just a warning) Also theres a rush hour that starts usually around 5pm - 7pm so I like to get there either before or afterwards if i cant make it. My thoughts are that this gym actually gets a few members that commute through the tunnel so they work out before heading home just to beat the traffic. I have to say, there is no shortage of attractive women who come here so thats an added bonus. More so than any other 24hr Ive been to and Ive been to quite a few. cons... I feel like the associates dont manage the weights at all. They seem to usually stay within their little "chicken pen" up in the front, talking amongst themselves. I really wish they would do more to return the weights to their proper places because sometimes Im left spending 5mins looking for a set of free weights that were left in a completely different area. And then there was one day that one of the guys was actually going around and managing the weights, but then he came up to me on the machine that I was on and (not some much barked but felt like a scolding) TOLD me to put back the weights when I was done with them, and took them while I was still middle of resting between sets. I really couldnt believe it happened at first, but it really did. I was very surprised, but not as much as when I caught a whiff of weed when we walked by suddenly realizing he was stoned. Yeah I said it, that dude was stoned while working. Im keeping it anonymous because the event was more comical to me than negative. Still doesnt change the fact I really like this gym.

Malfunctioning Treadmills: Im training for the Oakland Full Marathon and I joined this facility for a couple of months, only to use the treadmill if its raining or very cold to run outdoors. The treadmills are always occupied in the evenings after work and my fellow gym users are not courtesy enough to respect the 30-minute limit, which is not even enforced by the staff. So I dont go after work. I went in around 6:30 this morning as it was raining. Of the 12 - 15 treadmills, only 5-7 of them were working. I was running on one at a speed of 6.8 for about 10 minutes and the treadmill malfunctioned and just stopped! Thankfully I didnt slide off. I tried 2 other machines and the same thing happened after a few minutes. None of these machines were marked as being malfunctioned. I asked a staff member, who walked by and his response was Yeah, these smaller machines dont work well, you should try to get one of the bigger treadmills. Well all of those were taken and my fellow gym members were not respecting the 30-minute limit. Sadly enough I left with getting to use a treadmill. I pretty much wasted more than $60 in membership fees for 2 months.

Having never been to a gym, I walked into the 24-hour Fitness Webster location in order to ask about pricing. The manager treated me to literally THE worst customer service experience of my life. Though I asked repeatedly, he never gave me a price quote, merely sneering that--Tchuh!--gyms dont have hourly rates. He was incredibly rude to me and aggressive, talking down to me the entire time. When I asked for the THIRD time what the costs were he told me it was best that I look up the price online. I said that I did not have daily access to the web, to which he replied by rolling his eyes. Additionally, before I had even one question answered I was asked to sign an agreement freeing the gym of any liabilty. I had been on the premises not 3 minutes, and they were asking for my name, address, telephone number, email address and place of work. Like I said it was, hands down, the worst customer service of my life. Where I come from one is expected to be nice to those who serve you, but this place was downright hostile. Needless to say, Ill never attend this gym or any of its sister locations. Its back to jogging for me. Thats free, at least.

i only go because of the some of the machines i need to use for my back..that said, its ALWAYS ALWAYS stuffy, no ventilation, the staff has a weird vibe to them like they would rather be somewhere else..Much of the equipment is old, and never ever gets fixed in a timely fashion..EVER..Steam room has been down every year to fix the same tile problems for the last 5 years..it never lasts..Many of the machines take weeks to get fixed..weights walk out on their own, they are never racked, and they get alot of street people who get by the night time staff..which is just another incentive to just not go..at least one shower is ALWAYS down, there was never much hot water..etc.. People also hog the weight machines alot here..and give you the "evil eye if you try and work in..I used to like this gym a lot but the buildup of what ive said has made me go maybe once a week tops..for the last 8 months.if that..i go other places..i would recommend you do too..

Ive been to a few 24 hour fitness location and they are all pretty good. Good people to greet you and say goodbye when you leave, and are very polite but this one, when you walk in it seems like it hurts them to say "have a good workout". Ive been in this particular one maybe 5-6 times and everytime, i am very disappointed with the front desk. The customer service skills are just not there. One of the front desk employee tells me "people think that if they come in before 430, they think they can have free parking". Wouldnt it be better to explain in a nice polite way that parking doesnt start until 430 and when you drive in before 430, it does not validate the parking. But she was just plain rude about it. if youre in oakland and have a 24 hour fitness membership, i suggest the club on alameda ave, this is a great club, much newer, and LOTS of parking spaces.

Over the last 10 years I have belonged to numerous gyms and this one was the worst. From trainers who were uninterested and clock watching ... Will ... to a staff that cannot answer your questions this gym lacks anything to make it unique. Also, when I tried to cancel over phone after moving I had to call several times because they would just tell me I had to come in and do it in person - thanks, now that I live on the east coast, that makes sense. After being billed for 2 months more than I should have, I could not believe how shady this gym is ... now I will know to NEVER JOIN 24 hour fitness and pay the extra money for a gym that will not jerk me around ... check out Golds Gym if you were looking for gyms here, the extra cost per month will more than be outweighed by 24 hour fitness shady billing system.
