This is my third time using Ocean Honda in Santa Cruz. The first time it was drop off, and pick up later in the day for a nail in my tire. There was no problem, as I scheduled the drop-off on line, and picked it up when they called to say it was ready (approx 1pm). The second time I had a scheduled maintenance appt. I arrived on time, and i was told it would take approx 1 hr, and I decided to wait there for my vehicle. Almost 2 hrs later, my vehicle was done, with a rather shotty "car wash". I get it, the place can be busy, but I made an appointment, at time slotted for ME. Though a bit annoyed, I brushed it off, giving them the benefit of the doubt. Today 6/12/2013, I had a 1 pm appointment, that I had made online, with an email confirmation. I arrived on time. I stood outside withmy vehicle, as the giant sign says to until an attendant can meet with you, for approx 10 min, with no one in sight. I finally got to talk to someone, and when I told him I had an appointment, he said he didnt show record of it. I offered him my confirmation number, and he said he would take care of it. He asked if I was going to wait for my vehicle, and I said yes. Another associated informed him that there was a 2 HOUR wait from that time on. Annoyed, I looked at my associate, and he offered me shuttle. I tried to be understanding, and said that I lived in South County. He said that would be no problem, as the shuttle will go wherever was needed, and they would bring me back when the vehicle was done. He then assured me it would be ready at 330p. (2 1/2 hrs after my initial appt) He showed me the waiting area where the shuttle driver would come by to pick me up. No joke, almost an hour later, "a" driver showed up, looking less than thrilled to be there, and not only was I to be picked up, but 4 other persons going ALL OVER the county. I did not sign up for a tour around the county in this horrendous summer traffic, when my vehicle should have only taken 1 - 1 1/2 hrs max for my service. Come to find out, the driver was not a shuttle driver at all, but one of the detailers! No wonder his professionalism gave us all a warm and fuzzy feeling. I waited patiently in the waiting area for 2 1/2 hours, and finally got up and inquired about my car, only to find out that they had not even started to work on it!!! There was no attempt to contact me to let me know. The associate said to me: "I thought you went with the shuttle". My reply was, it didnt matter if I did or didnt. This should not take this long! What is the point of making an appointment at all, if it is going to become an ALL DAY ordeal?! It wasnt because my vehicle needed tons of work. It was their mismanagement of time, appointments, people, and unprofessional manner in which they handled their continuous errors. I asked for my vehicle, WITHOUT ANY work done. The associate apologized, and offered a loaner car for the next time. My reply was, There will not be a next time, because no one should need a loaner vehicle for a simple service. I will not be returning to Ocean Honda Santa Cruz, or recommend it to anyone. I will go out of my way to detour people from it, as the service is subpar and obviously has not changed its practices from the last time I was there.

I have currently 2 cars now through Ocean Honda. This review is directed towards service. They treat you great if you are fully covered and like garbage if you are not. I have precious phone calls not returned, non-booked appointments that I had booked and most recently today was supposed to have had a precall on a loaner for a morning appointment. No call so I called this morning so I called and spoke with Chris. He said there was a short wait so I said I would send my wife down with my 6 year old son. The wait was over 2 hours to diagnose the ac leak. I received a quote for $720 to replace 2 hoses. And it would take a few weeks to get the parts. I was charged an $89 diagnosis fee. I informed Chris that I am able to wholesale cars agent so I can get the repair done at a much lower cost. I asked Chris to please show my wife the exact location of the leaks so that my wife can take a picture for me and he assured me that he would. So I get home and my wife lets me know that they were busy and they could not show me where it was leaking. I left to drive back to the dealership, which is a half hour away from my home, and was informed that the dealership was closed. The person answering the phone Brenda was extremely helpful and made mulitiple calls to try to help and even gave me a call back to offer me a loaner car for the weekend. She really seemed to care about me, the customer. Im a retail manager for a major corporation and deal with service every day. I know that personal touch and effort goes a long way towards customer loyalty. I have not received that from some time from your service department which makes me not want to stay with your company in the future. Ive had caring, positive experiences from Alphonse, AJ, my warranty person and everyone in the front office along with Tammy and Kristen. I may very likely take all my future service needs to Palm Harbor Honda. And possibly sales needs although that has not been my complaint.

If there were minus stars that would be the one to check but since I have to check one star to leave this true review, than one star it is.That is if being a lying cheating no good low down dog of a dealership merits one star. They knew we were having trouble locating the civic in the make and color and model we wanted...many calls later after striking out other places closer to home,we called one last time and canceled our local signed contract ,voided it,and drove to Santa Cruz on the promise that they had the car. When we got there they told us sure we got the car-it will be here tomorrow. I was so mad that I cussed the guys out on the way out the door and that jerk from the commercials followed us to the parking lot screaming"you dont know me" like he was some kind of gangster/tough guy/ready to fight in the parking lot.My girlfriend got scared there would be a fight and told me to back out and leave, the manager tried to use his body to block our escape and then smashed his knuckles on my driver side window. We drove away anyway to avoid legal and medical bills and then they called us while we drove the hour home and pursued it with us on the phone. All of the above statement is true and we only wished to drive up there, pay them and drive home in the car that they said was there waiting for us.They LIED to us to our faces and when we lost our temper due to being scammed and cussed as we left they tried to make us feel like we did them wrong and start a fist fight!!! We then went to Val Strough again, who even though we had canceled the contract due to the car delivery taking too long, sent us a great ,nice, text saying we found and brought your exact car come back and see us!!!typing this from home with our 2014 civic in the driveway.Ocean Honda was like episode of cops with a drug deal gone bad....very scary place
