This is a review not only for the Newark location, but Pack Rat in general I will start with the one good thing about this company - the price. Considering I had a long distance move, I felt $3000 was pretty reasonable for the container, first month of storage, and shipping it to Colorado. Aside from the price, every experience I had thereafter was downhill. Issue #1 – I had scheduled the container to be shipped from Delaware to Colorado on May 22, 2015 with an anticipated arrival of June 9. June 7th came around and I decided to call to check the status of the shipment. To my surprise, the container never left Delaware. Richard Perry in Delaware was quite capable of charging me the remaining balance due, but somehow was incapable of submitting the paperwork to ship my container. My container didn’t arrive until June 22nd. Issue #2 – I scheduled to get access to my container on June 28th. When I arrived at the facility in Denver, the manager, Matt, could not locate my container. 20 minutes after searching, he told me it was never brought down. I sat on the sidewalk of the building for an additional 40 minutes until a driver came back to the facility and lowered my unit. Issue #3 – I scheduled my container to be delivered to my apartment on August 14th, in the morning slot and paid an extra $50. I called at 10 AM that morning to confirm the order and was told to expect a call shortly. 11:45 came – no container, no phone call. I called your company and after 15 minutes was told the Denver facility had a “back log”, but that Matt was sending his team out again. I paid extra for the morning slot because I had movers arriving at 1:00 that day. No one would tell me when the container would arrive and Matt, the manager of the Denver facility, would not call me to give me any updates. I made 3 more phone calls to the headquarters that day and not once did Matt call me, despite customer service reps telling me he would. 2:45 was my final call. The agent put me on hold and when he came back he told me Pack Rat was at my apartment (I had left to clean out my other place since I never got a call). The driver claimed he called me 3 times, but I never received a single call. I asked the agent to make sure he was calling me on the correct number and he said the number I was giving him was the only one on file. I rushed back to my other apt. to make sure the container was placed in the proper location, but the driver had already left. My movers had to come 4 hours later than I originally scheduled because of Pack Rat, and it through off my entire day and schedule. Issue #4. The container was supposed to be picked up on Saturday, August 15th in the morning. Saturday came and went, and the container stayed. It was not picked up until approximately 6 PM on Sunday, August 16th. Needless to say, I have never worked with a more poorly operated and managed company. The first agent I spoke to in NC, had a crappy attitude. Sherry and Jeremy (I think), were both pleasant, but still not helpful. Richard Perry in Delaware clearly doesn’t know how to do his job. Matt in Denver, whom I had the unfortunate pleasure of meeting, clearly has no idea how to run the Denver facility. He claimed he was brought in to change the operations and make it better, but clearly he needs to either be replaced himself, or learn how to run a business properly. Under no circumstances will I ever use this company again, and I will be certain to make sure no one I know uses it either.

I moved in March 2015, long distance from Raleigh, NC to Ft Collins, CO. I used PackRat to move my stuff across the country. PackRat was great to work with! They gave me a better deal than I was getting from anywhere else and even upgraded me to the next size container for same price. The delivery driver was great and answered all my questions. He even gave some helpful tips in packing the container. He checked that the container was secure when he picked up as well. I got the same great service in Colorado as well. When I got the final bill, it was incorrect from what they quoted me... PackRat apologized and quickly resolved the issue within a couple days. Overall, great service all around and I would definitely recommend PackRat. :-)

They took a stressful moving scenario and made it about 10 times worse. They quoted rates and delivery times over the phone that they later denied (until they went back over their recorded transcripts and conceded that I wasnt lying about what I was told). They said 3-5 business days for delivery... biggest lie of all. It took them over 16 business days to get our furniture & belongings to us at our new location after we moved. Really not fun living in an empty house for over two weeks with new job and kids starting new schools while all our stuff was 4 states away... If you are still considering using these guys to move your stuff, I suggest using them during a very NON BUSY time of year... maybe then they can keep their promises.

We used 1-800-PACK-RAT for our move from Chesapeake, VA to Westminster, CO and we were very satisfied with the service we received. In our situation it was much more convenient and about the same price we would have paid to rent a moving truck and we didnt have the hassle of having to drive it such a great distance. We also didnt have an apartment when we arrived so we took advantage of the one month of storage. Once we found a place to live I was easily able to schedule the drop off. At our request they were able to drop off and pick up the container in the same day since our apartment complex didnt want it there overnight. Overall we would recommend them for long distance move or any more that will need to include storage.

Today I had the worst moving experience. I understand there are great experience with Pack Rat, but let mine be a warning that its probably best to go with a better company (Mayflower, PODs). Today my storage container was to be delivered (I had scheduled it over a month ago). I got a call this morning that they would not be coming and if I was lucky they might be able to get me one tomorrow. This doesnt work, thats why I scheduled it over a month ago. Now Im about to drive to U Haul and rent a truck to fill tomorrow as planned and make a last minute drive across the country. Ive used Mayflower in the past and had a great experience, Id recommend them or spend a couple extra bucks to get a sure thing with PODs.

I wouldnt give them one star if it let me post. even give them a star. The worst experience for making a resvervation that this old man (59)has come across in his 20+++ moves hes done in his life. I have now booked with PODS, paid 200 more and feel great. If PODS can get a permit to park the dang thing on the street why couldnt you?????? 4-5 hours of my life yesterday at one of the more stressfull times in life. Please stop putting money in front of morals!!! Tell people the whole truth. If anyone wants to discuss this with me I hope thier is a way to communicate with out me giving out phone number. ILL GLADLY, TELL YOU THE HORROR STORY.
