Hit and miss. Used to go here a few years ago when it was under different management. Seemed a lot better then. Theres still a few employees that are really nice and try to help you. The one good thing is they are open late. But, they cant really do much besides change oil and rotate tires anyway after the normal hours. More expensive depending on the job. This may be due to parts. They totally screw you. Be warned, if you go here, find out what parts you need and then walk to the parts counter and buy them yourself. If they have to walk back there, it comes with a surcharge. Also the customer service IS BAD! They are nice enough, but they arent doing it right. It takes them a good 15 minutes to check you in at least. Also, their time estimates are always way off. Example: Had a lower control arm and ball joint replaced last year. It was $820 (including alignment). I knew nothing about front ends at the time. I said, go ahead and they had to overnight a new ball joint / control arm assembly - did not have it in stock. I know now, this is an extremely common part on an extremely common vehicle and every parts store in town has multiple of them. Also, they said only a "senior" tech could replace it. Now, what do you call a tech who cant replace a ball joint on a Chevy truck: NOT A TECH by an stretch of the imagination! The entire reason I brought the truck in was because of a front end noise. After all this was over, I could still hear the noise. Took it back, kinda annoyed at this point. They test drove it (maybe?) and couldnt hear any noise that anyone could have heard over any bump. Turns out it was the tie rods, which I replaced finally myself. Decided to learn about front-ends and do this kind of work myself. Its not hard. With about $30 in tools and 1 hour tops anyone could replace a control arm and ball joint on a 97 GMC. Charging anyone $300 in labor for this is highway robbery. But people dont know better, I certainly didnt. Now speaking of tie rods, they would have replaced these for me for about $300 including parts. Not bad -- depending on what parts they would use which Im not certain. If its the cheap parts, that comes to $75 in parts which means labor would be $225 for a job that should take 30 minutes tops. But, if they are the $50 parts (x4 = $200), that would be about right. Again, hit and miss. I dont trust them except for simple stuff where I tell them whats wrong, i tell them what part to use and how to fix it. That and Im sure oil changes etc. are fine to do here if you can put up with the long waits. Dont expect them to really troubleshoot and find anything out of the ordinary. They once couldnt get an alignment correct (kept getting front outer edge tire wear every 3k miles). Now that I know what Im doing, it should have been obvious what the issue was. I had a bad wheel hub assembly. Pep Boys never did figure this out. It wasnt until a year later another shop knew right away what the issue was by just wiggling the tire and noticing a large amount of movement in the wheel. Pep Boys cost me over $300 in tires on my truck because they didnt do their job here. Like I said, figure out what you want done. Tell them exactly what to do and dont expect anything else. In summary... like I said: hit and miss.

This shop is only a couple of blocks away from my house, so Ive given them the benefit of the doubt, and more than once, for the convenience of walking back to my house while they perform service. Ive stopped taking my car there after the latest incident which happened a few months ago. Im going to list both incidents here for all those smart enough to read them and take heed. One of the service technicians left two bolts loose on the skid plate of my Tacoma, so it broke loose and dragged along the highway. This is pretty good chunk of metal to leave loose to cause damage to myself, my truck, or other people on the highway. Since I was close to my house, I was able to limp straight back to the business, angry as hell. I gave the service manager an earful and demanded they fix the skid plate and give a refund. He had them fix it, but no refund, as they had "performed the work". No, You DIDNT perform the work, else I wouldnt be screaming in your ear right about now. The second incident happened a year before that. Some technician, again, left the cap off of the radiator. Predictably enough, my truck over-heated and left me stranded by the side of the highway. Fortunately the engine didnt seize up and I was able to walk to a business who were kind enough to lend me a jug of water, and after the engine cooled down, I was able to, again, limp my truck back to the business and yelled at the service manager. For my trouble, I received a gallon of anti-freeze and a free radiator cap! How magnanimous. They claimed they had "tape" demonstrating that the service technician had indeed put the cap back on. What a bunch of Bull. Lastly, they NEVER lubed the chassis or the drivetrain when they serviced my vehicle. Do not, under ANY circumstance, allow Pep Boys to service any part of your vehicle. Thank You.

This location has the WORST customer service I have ever experienced. I dont know if they got new management or something but this place USED to be amazing! I just went in to get my tires repaired since I got a flat and one had an air bubble. My tires are still under warranty as Ive had them less than a year and not even close to the 80k mile warranty on them. First of all, Sam, the first rep I dealt with, looked like he didnt know what he was doing and kept going back and forth everywhere and between customers. He made me go get my tire even though I had asked for assistance with it and then said it wasnt covered under the warranty. I then spoke to Eugene, at least that was the name he gave me when I asked for one, and told him about the issue with the TWO tires I had that Sam had only chosen to assist me with one. He said the way they were trained, this is how its supposed to be dealt with. They also couldnt find my record on their system even though I provided them with the receipts and warranty information I got from them when I purchased all FOUR tires with them. "Eugene" said the air bubbles are caused by "poor driving and care by owner". I then asked him for corporates number and he told me to look it up on my phone or something and turned away. I didnt see him speak that way to any of his male customers. Just because Im a female he thinks he can speak to me that way? I always came here for anything I needed for my cars. After this experience, I will NEVER come here or recommend this location to ANYONE! Do not come here! Especially if youre a female and youre alone because they will be rude to you and try to take advantage of you.
