Ive used them off and on for several years. Things started to go bad though a year or two ago. First, I had a catalytic converter replaced by them on my Subaru. After the repair, I kept getting an check engine light code related to the cat. After bringing it back the the shop repeatedly, they finally "discovered" that they had to put some kind of "adapter" in. Nevertheless, I continued to get the same engine error code intermitently; it never occurred to me that perhaps they installed a cheap cat or one that might not be 100% compatible. Later, I had the fuel vapor/chacoal canister replaced, afterwhich I began to get a couple of new engine error codes as well as have problems fulling filling the gas tank. Again, I brought the car back to them repeatedly. I had read online that sometimes when a vapor canister is replaced, some bits of charcoal can accidentally get into the fuel lines and cause problems. I mentioned this to them and they used high-pressure air to try to dislodge any bits of charcoal; I was told later by a Subaru dealership mechanic that such a thing was a very BAD thing to do because it could damage sensitive seals and gauges. Turns out the dealership was correct because immediately after that, I had trouble filling the tank at all! I had to spend a LONG time each time I filled up, slowly putting in a few ounces of gas at a time. And still I was getting the engine error codes! After many rounds back and forth (and the owner at times getting angry at ME for not liking the results of their work), the shop replaced the entire gas tank. This seemed to fill the fill-up problem totally, although I was still getting the same engine error codes, plus an entirely new one. In addition, whenever I filled up the car, the interior now reeked of gas fumes. After taking the care to another local shop and the dealership, I was told that when the gas tank was replaced, the gas tank seal/gasket and fuel level sensors had been damaged. After getting those items fixed, the engine error codes went away (with the exception of the one for the catalytic converter). Also during that time though, the catalytic converter went bad (element inside of the cat became dislodged, causing exhaust to back up) after only a year or two. After that was replaced again (at another local shop), the original cat error code went away and never came back. Sure, I could have gone back to Smoky Hill to fix all the problems they created, but I had grown so disgusted with their quality of work that I never wanted to have to deal with them again. So I spent almost $2000 additionally to fix the catalytic converter, gas tank seal/gasket and fuel level sensors, all items that can directly be attributed to them. Smoky Hill Auto does seem to be willing to redo work that wasnt quite right the first time, Ill grant you that. But how many times should a customer be required to take back his/her car just to get a repair done that should have been fixed the first time, assuming the quality of workmanship was high enough?

I have been going there for about 5 years after my friend recommended them. They are truly honest about the repair work needed. They never do more than is needed. One time I took the car in because I thought it needed a new cabin air filter and Craig told me that he had replaced it a little while back and that I didnt need a new one yet. Many auto dealers would just put in the $75 filter and not look out for you. Another time I took it in because my brakes were squeaking and I told them I needed new brakes. They looked at the brakes and told me that my front brakes were still good for another 20,000 miles so they only needed to do the back ones. Today I took my car in because the window wipers went haywire and were flapping all over the place and crisscrossing each other. Before looking at it I asked Craig how much he thought it would cost and he said it could be something simple or the whole wiper motor may have to be replaced. Either way, I needed it fixed. They called and said they just readjusted and tightened them and the charge was $27.50. They only do what is necessary and are always honest. I recommend them highly!!

Shady. Incompetent. Brought our car in for some work. They ended up replacing the ignition module because 2 cylinders were misfiring. We had them do an oil change, as well as paid $100 specifically for a FULL diagnostic, totaling $500 overall- we wanted to know if ANYTHING else was wrong so we could get if fixed right then and there and be done with it. They said they fixed the misfire and nothing else was wrong. I barely made it home Friday night. Of course they were closed on the weekend so I had to wait until Monday to take it back. They said its now most likely a torque converter in the tranny and we have to take it to a specialist. Thanks, fucktards. You obviously didnt even drive it off the lot to test it out. They are lucky I had to work while my boyfriend dropped it off and picked it up. NEVER, NEVER returning. NEVER, NEVER recommending.

Took my truck in to have a simple repair (neutral clutch switch) and was told it was the bushings, inflating the repair from $75 to $325. The truck was returned to me with the electrical system completely screwed up (dash warning lights on, rear lights not functioning, windshield wiper on constantly). Called to complain and was brushed off. DO NOT TAKE YOUR VEHICLE TO THIS SHOP!! I will be filing a complaint with BBB.

I wouldnt never recommend this auto shop to anyone. I brought in my car for service to replace the starter and not even 1 year later the replacement starter fails. The person i dealt with was named Craig and was very impatient and rude. The shoddy workmanship and the lack of attention to customer needs has caused me to go else for for my Auto repair needs.

Had a hose connector issue with my radiator in the middle of my workday and Craig was able to get me in right away and out inexpensively so that I could get back to work without feeling flattened by an opportunistic mechanic. Thanks Smoky Hill Auto Service!!! Ill be bringing them my business and referrals from here on.

My wife spoke to Craig & he gave her an honest quote for changing our battery. I got there to get the battery changed & they said 15 to 20 minutes. First mechanic Ive been to that had it done it the time they said. We highly recommend this place!

Called to get a estimate for a Stabilizer Bushing repair after finding them on Repair Pal and CRAIG was the rudest person to talk to. Work on your customer service!
