Zero stars. Ive done several cross-country moves, and my experience with the Moving Connection in Boulder, CO was the absolute worst. I ordered furniture pads to protect my wooden furniture, and mattress bags to protect my king- and queen-sized box springs and mattresses. I fully realized that I would pay for these materials. The men sent to my house on the day of my move did not have any of these supplies. The men sent to my home had absolutely no skill in packing furniture and household belongs in a fashion that was adequate to move across country. I supposed that haphazardly throwing things into moving containers might have been OK to move my items across town, but I was very clear when I placed my order that these containers were to be shipped to New England. My bedroom dresser and nightstands were not protected in any way while boxes and other items were chucked on top of them. When I pointed this out to the "mover", he gave me some attitude and continued throwing my things into the container without correcting the problem. The owner of The Moving Connection showed up at my house to insult me and mock my efforts to get my items packed securely. I have never seen such a childish display of vengence from a business owner. I asked him repeatedly to stop and leave, but he continued throwing my dining room chairs on top of my sofa, which was place in the container such that nothing else of any heft could be packed in. He made many statements to the effect of "if we provided furniture pads, youd have to pay for those", which, of course was not an issue for me. I just wanted appropriate protection for my belongings, and I was willing to pay for what I wanted. But I was assured when I placed my order that these things would be available for me to buy. I think that, if you are moving a few metal desks and file cabinets across town, these guys might be alright. But if youre REALLY moving: your entire household of personal, fragile items any distance, please avoid using The Moving Connection of Boulder, CO. After I convinced these men to leave, my roommate and I unloaded and repacked my storage containers. My move was delayed by two days, and I lost an additional $150.00 because of this companys incompetence. BEWARE!

We used the Moving Connection for 2 moves in a 2.5 year period. The first move was fantastic. It took a 2 man team 4 hours (8 man hours) to move my girlfriend and I from 2 apartments into 1 location. I was not there to help with the move - just the 2 movers and my girlfriend handled everything. We were so impressed that we decided to use them again. On the 2nd move, Paul came to our place and did an estimate for us. I did not think this was necessary because they had done the move before. He claimed it would take 3 movers 5 hours (15 man hours) to do this move to a location that was < 5 minutes away. Note: this was an even shorter move than last time. The amount of stuff we were moving did not change. I disagreed with Paul during the estimate and said it should not take 3 guys 5 hours if it took 2 guys 4 hours and this move was easier. When all of this was finished, it took the 3 guys 6 hours (18 man hours) to do the move. They definitely took their time. To add to this, I had to help out just to keep them moving or else we would have had to pay even more. They failed to make use of hand trucks and chose to lift and move boxes 2-3 at a time when hand trucks could have been much faster. I emailed the owners about this 2 times asking for a refund of 2 hours since it took so long and they went over the estimate. The first time they said they would look into it and never got back to me after that. The second time they failed to get back to me at all. There is no way it should have taken 18+ man hours to do an easier job when they did it in 8 man hours the first time. Their failure to address my concerns and refund part of the time has lead me to NEVER USE THIS COMPANY AGAIN.

For 6 months they refused to communicate with me. When I offered a new address and payment information they were not in the least bit interested. I asked for a detailed billing statement 3 times and never received it. 6 months later when they finally decided to reach out to me not only will they not listen to a word I say, they hung up on me, wouldnt answer the phone and will not respond to email. I finally got that detailed billing statement after the 4th time in asking when they decided to threaten for full payment or else. I dont know how they expected payments to be made when they wouldnt accept new payment information when offered 6 months ago. I have been a customer since 2010. They were always awful about taking my payment out of my account on time, not at all (claiming I had a bad card when it most certainly was not), too early, or more than once a month without authorization. Do not use this company long term, if at all. I would give zero stars if I could.

I hired the moving connectionlast week to load a 26 penske truck for my move across the country. I had figured that it was going to be quite close to filling the truck, and probably more then its capacity, so I left several "maybe" items to the side. Ronnie, Gary and Paul O. arrived on time and loaded my truck. They did an awesome job, not only did they get all my maybe items into the truck, but I ended up with room to spare. They did an incredible job. Not one thing was broke or damaged upon arrival, and not one item shifted a bit in the truck despite my best efforts of driving said truck. Additionally they were very careful moving items out of my house, including a large awkward treadmill, and were very diligent workers. All in all, I wish we had used these guys before for our local Colorado move a few years back, and I wouldnt hesitate to recommend them to anyone needing help loading, unloading or moving in the future.

Background-We have had 4 cross country moves in the past 12 years using professional moving services. This was our first local move. Pros-courteous staff, one of the lowest bids, they actually sent someone to look at where they would deliver to since we were moving to the mountains. Cons-they pulled staff off of our packing job and did not replace them; this resulted in a much longer packing day and moving staff used the next day to continue packing. The packers did not use the paper and moving boxes provided though this was agreed to in the estimate; this resulted in a much higher final bill. There have been many items damaged due to improper packing; loose light bulbs in the bottom of a box, books stacked on top of a lamp shade, etc. Bottom line-The Moving Connection promptly cashed our check but has yet to return a call or e-mail inquiry in the last 3 weeks. There are other options available to you; I recommend using them.
