My wife and I both agree that Danbury Hyundai was by far the best car dealership we have ever been to, hands down. We negotiated the price off the internet with Mark Santaromita, and Danbury beat every other Connecticut Hyundai dealer’s best price by hundreds of dollars. We did visit Meriden Hyundai first when we were ready to purchase as it was closer to our house. What a horrible experience with Meriden. We were lied to about the current miles of the vehicle and the options included, and were pressured to make a decision right there about whether to purchase. We ended up walking away from Meriden and decided to take a long drive down to Danbury to see the vehicle we were offered. THANK GOD WE DID. When we arrived, the vehicle we were inquiring about was already waiting outside for us to inspect. My wife and I were both skeptical about the options and the miles after being lied to by other dealerships we drove to, but there were no surprises at Danbury. The vehicle was just like the internet said it would be and the miles were exactly as Mark said they were. There was no haggling involved, there was no pressure to take the deal today or it would be off the table. Mark gave us space to speak with my wife with no pressure and let us take a test drive of the vehicle we negotiated. No pressure, no surprises, we shook hands and made a deal within 15 minutes of walking into the dealership. He even gave us an unexpected great deal on our 13 year old Hyundai that we thought we were going to donate. We were pre-approved by my credit union before we purchased the vehicle, and when we made the deal my credit union was closing in 10 minutes. We thought we would have a new car the next day when my credit union opened, but were told financing may be able to match our credit unions rate. I must admit, both my wife and I were skeptical about financing at the dealership. We were waiting for Mike in financing to tell us he could get us close to the credit unions APR and then trying to talk us into signing a loan that was close to what my credit union offered, "but only 10 more dollars a month" to drive our new car home that night. My wife and I were waiting for the surprise or the catch but it never came. Mike did not match the APR, he BEAT IT! It only took 20 minutes to sign the paperwork in financing (and that was mostly because the computer system was down), and that was it! Mark told us to go to dinner, come back in an hour, and our new car would be detailed and ready to go. The DMV computer was down for some reason when we were getting ready to leave. My wife and I were both thinking that we would be picking up the vehicle the next day since the DMV computer was down, but Mark said the registration was all set in the computer and went the extra step to give us a dealer plate just in case. He mailed our registration overnight to us the next day when the DMV computer finally came back online, with a return envelope for the plate so we didnt have to drive back down. I do not know any other dealership that would do that. My wife and I drove our brand new Santa Fe off the lot 3 hours after visiting the dealership (with an hour dinner included) and could not be happier with the car. The Danbury Hyundai staff were all friendly, knowledgeable, and more than willing to go the extra mile. The next time I but a car, I will not even waste my time going to other dealerships. Danbury Hyundai just gained a repeat customer. They are highly recommended!

Awful experience at this dealership and I gave them SO many opportunities to make things right. I bought a certified 2011 Hyundai Sonata from them back in August. The car had some minor wear and tear issues but nothing noticeable to the naked eye AT FIRST. I drove the car and it drove well, did a quick walk around and then bought it because it was a great deal and a Certified Vehicle. I did not do as thorough of an inspection as I probably should have but felt confident in Danbury Hyundai being a legit dealer that stood by their products. I get home and not a day later do I notice the hood is misaligned. Brought it back and told them about it a couple of weeks later (as I live out of state now) and they didnt have time to look at it. Played cat and mouse with them for about 4 months trying to find time when they would look at it and had to call about 10 times to get the issue finally resolved after 3 visits with them avoiding the issue. The body shop guy at Kia next door where they sent me to have it assessed was great. He told me the car was clearly in an accident and had some more serious damage than just the hood being misaligned. The dealership did finally pay for the damages thanks to the manager Dave who was very respectful and helpful when and only when I was able to get a hold of him. I called him and left messages about 10 times and finally had to go to the dealership to find him in person. RIGHT after this, I blew a tire. Now, keep in mind on certified vehicles Hyundai promises at least 90% of the treat so me being the silly guy I am I ASSUMED the car they sold me would be up to these specs. NOPE. After blowing my car to another Hyundai dealer they noticed I had 3 different types of tires on my vehicle. Got that tire fixed. Another tire went about a month after that and I now have to replace a 3rd tire on the back. I have had this vehicle for 8 months and all tires with "90% of their tread life" had either blown due to being highly worn and/or being low on tread. Lastly, the finance guy charged me for a Tire and Wheel Protection Plan that I was told covered all my tires new and old (which only actually covers the tires on the vehicle when you buy it) as well as an aftermarket Zurich Warranty, NEITHER OF WHICH I ASKED FOR OR AGREED TO BUY. Danbury Hyundai is just like any other used car dealer. They withhold information and hide whatever they can to make a few extra bucks. Moral of the story, bring a mechanic with you to buy a car there and thoroughly inspect eh body and tires regardless of weather the car is or is not Certified. Make sure the finance guy breaks down each and every charge for you prior to signing your financing papers. He even found a $300 window treatment that he took off after I went back in after the fact that he said "used cars already have." I have never been so disappointed in a companys business ethics in my life. This last tire issue was the last straw.

A year and a half ago my girl friend purchased a used 2011 Hyundai Elantra from Danbury Hyundai with ~70K miles. 2-3 weeks ago (with 95K miles) the car wouldnt start, after having it towed to the Hyundai in Branford CT they informed us that the timing chain had jumped. We figured it was just the timing chain and that wed be looking at a bill of 500-1000$. The dealer then informed us that this vehicle has an interference engine (meaning the valves open up into the cylinder area that the piston will travel into) and that when the timing is off it can cause the parts of the engine to collide. Branford Hyundai told us that a rod in the engine had failed and this is a common problem with these engines and that Hyundai is aware of it. We then learned that the engine was destroyed and it would be over 5000$ to get the car running again. Because she is the second owner of the Vehicle the warranty is reduced to a 60K mile warranty as opposed to a 100K mile warranty brand new. Because the car was purchased with ~70K miles it was bought out of warranty. We were told by Branford that either Danbury Hyundai or Corporate would likely cover the cost of this seeing as the car has been perfectly maintained and we have the documentation to prove it. Not only was it not covered by the dealership or by corporate, but Danbury Hyundai was extremely rude to us every step of the way. Ive worked in the automotive industry as both a mechanic and as a service writer for Toyota for close to ten years. In all that time Ive never seen or heard of anything like this happening. Not only does Hyundai have a known problem with a part they know is failing prematurely, but when it does, because of the engine used in this car it causes upwards of 5000$ worth of damages. I cant for the life of me understand why anyone would EVER buy a Hyundai after hearing this story. If you are reading this, heed my warning, buy a different make, DO NOT buy a Hyundai. If you do insist on buying a Hyundai, DO NOT get it from Danbury Hyundai, the complete lack of professionalism from their service department has left me speechless. According to Branford Hyundai and Hyundai corporate, Danbury Hyundai personally denied the claim that was submitted as well as refusing any sort of goodwill coverage to do right by the customer.
