When first thinking about getting into better shape, I wasnt sure what or where to go. I had done the larger Gym thing, only to waste my money on going and not knowing what to do, other than getting on the treadmill, doing some machines ( which I never felt comfortable on..lol ). I happen to come across Johns company on facebook and watched one of his videos about his company. I instantly felt like this guy knew what he was doing and figured Id go find out what it was all about. Well, it was the BEST thing I could have ever done. At 43, I felt I need to get into better physical shape and wanted to feel better about myself. The first thing I noticed going into Hold Fast Personal Training was the Clean and energized atmosphere. Once I committed to starting my workout with John, I noticed changes right away. first was the mental change in myself ( just seeing that I can do more than I ever thought possible ). Also, John is very attentive to my personal goals and what works best with me. He comes up with a specific plan, that fits my personal needs. It has been about 70 days now, and Im on my second month, with a whole new routine. I couldnt be more happy with the results Ive already seen, and look forward to each session that I have with John. the small groups also make it a very motivating atmosphere as well ( we all feed off each other and want to help each other succeed. I can 100% recommend Johns workout to anyone, and, its never to late, as I fell better now at 43 than I ever felt before! Joe Limiero

Ive been working out since I was a teenager, approximately 25 years. Until joining Hold Fast, I had never used a personal trainer because I thought I knew everything, and anything I didnt know I could supplement with magazines and YouTube videos. Boy was I wrong. Ive been with John for about 3 weeks now, and my life has changed. I joined Hold Fast as part of a 6 week fitness challenge, but theres no question in my mind Ill be a long-term member. Im down 10 pounds. Im eating clean. Im sleeping, which is something Ive never done. Im more alert. In 3 weeks! The training environment is clean. The fellow members are all focused yet friendly (not sure how that happens to be honest...everyone Ive met there is very kind and affable - have never seen that before at a gym). John is an incredible source of fitness knowledge, and delivers this knowledge in a very accessible way, regardless of your exercise knowledge/history. He knows how to get the most out of his members. He pushes us, and does it in such a way that we actually want to push. I couldnt recommend Hold Fast more highly!

After losing 100-plus pounds on my own, I honestly thought I would never need a trainer. Then I got injured during the Warrior Dash and landed myself on crutches for 3 months. I was determined not to get hurt again, and knew I needed to get stronger. I started feeling overwhelmed because I had exhausted my limited knowledge about fitness and didnt want to do more damage.... Enter John Mendes at Hold Fast! I started seeing him around December 2014, and now Im in at least three times a week. Hes my guru, my therapist, and hes taught me how to balance pushing myself and caring for myself. Ive put on about 40-50 pounds of muscle, and he always keeps me focused on my goals and the next challenge to take on. I cant speak highly enough of my experience at Hold Fast, not to mention the other people who train there. They make it feel like a second home- none of that ridiculous competitive, unproductive atmosphere you get at Planet Fitness! If youre tired of starting over, come to Hold Fast and get ready to see the easy, small ways to make permanent changes to your lifestyle.

HoldFast Fitness is a wonderful environment in which to reach your fitness goals.The members are genuinely nice people and John Mendes is a terrifically motivational trainer. Tailored programs help each member achieve their personal best. The workouts are challenging but not soul-crushing and John does not believe in pain as an indicator of a well-done workout! Many women can relate to this: you know that favorite pair of jeans you fervently guard post-wash, hanging them to dry so they dont end up shrinking in the dryer? I threw mine in the dryer last night because theyre too big. HoldFast = real world results.

This place is awesome!! I joined about a month or so ago and love it. For those of you who dont know about this place ..its like having a semi private trainer! He is very attentive and if you think he is not watching...wrong..he has eyes everywhere. lol What I like is its a very small group of great friendly people..very comfortable atmosphere and a different type of training style which I happen to love. I highly recommend this gym. John (owner/trainer) is great. I feel so much better and toner than I have in years. Kudos to you John!!

At Hold Fast Im lucky to receive personalized fitness training and programs that are customized for my personal fitness and health goals. Theres no "corporate" non-sense here, I receive honest and effective coaching and training from John Mendes. The equipment is challenging and awesome to use. Kettle bells, sleds, ropes and other traditional gym weights are there to help with working out and elevating my game. I have always been afraid of gyms. When I did go, I went straight to the treadmill with my head down, and didnt do anything else. I have been going to Hold Fast now for about a month, and I love it. It is a place where I feel comfortable going, and being myself, and I actually look forward to going! John is a great guy, and is not intimidating at all. I am already seeing results; I can actually see muscle, and my jeans are sliding on a lot more easily! If you are thinking about joining, do it! You will not be disappointed.
