I have been a member of this gym for about 8 months and I am happy with it for what I pay ($20/month). There are not many "meatheads" and they have a lot of machines. Their locker rooms also are decent and each have a sauna. The sauna in the ladies locker room is very temperamental though. Sometimes its working, and sometimes its not. I take the Zumba classes with Bobbi and they are awesome. My workout when I am not at Zumba consists of a heavy 60 minute cardio set, and 30 minutes of abs and strength. I find that it meets the needs of my work out and I have lost 25 lbs since my serious diet started in January (3 months). Although its no LA Fitness, the gym is what you make of it. When I am there I am all business, so I really dont care what it looks like, smells like, or if a few machines are broken once in a while. You will find that at any gym you go to. I dont use a personal trainer because overall I just dont like the service anywhere. I feel like if you really want information on dieting and exercise you should speak to a doctor and nutritionist since everyone is so different. With all of that said I am actually pretty surprised that the gym has received such low ratings. You get what you pay for and if your workout is similar to mine, there is no need to go to a fancy gym and pay a lot of money. I was a member of Bally Total Fitness for many years before my gym in Lake Grove closed down, and the switch didnt really bother me. The only two suggestions I would have for this gyms management/owners is that they figure out that situation with the ladiess sauna and try to fix their machines a bit quicker when they do break. Ive been a member of this gym several times over the last 10 years or so. Having said that, I am going back to this gym for the first time in a while, and I cant officially comment on new ownership, but I can give insight as to what a new gym goer is looking for. The Good: First of all, price is great. The gym is alive an well during the busy hours, and its open during crazy hours which is great because I live down the street now. The people look like they care enough, and my wife says the shakes and supplements bar is very good. The "Bad": Gym equipment can be broken, and it can be for a long time. In the past Ive seen machines broken for months on end. If I were critiquing the place to an owner, Id say Get CRAZY regular maintenance done so these rumors of broken equipment stop, its hurting the business for sure. The basement (where I like to work out the most, as I prefer free weights) does have an initial smell when youre walking down the stairs, and I dont think anyone would like it. But, the smell goes away by the time youre at the bottom of the stairs and you dont realize it any more for your entire workout. Its not like youre constantly smelling B.O. Its just for the first 15 seconds. To me though, thats a con. My bottom line: This is a GYM. It has WEIGHTS. and MACHINES. make it work for you and it will. Find excuses to complain over, and it wont. Just go there, work out, realize youre getting a good rate and change up your workout. Youll see the benefits if you want to.

i have been going there for about a year now. it is a mixed bag. the same equipment doesnt work at all or doesnt work properly since the day i got there. i have brought these things to the attention of the staff and they tell me they were unaware, and then a month or two later i will mention the same thing and they will tell me that no one has ever brought this to their attention before. it is ridiculous. there are leaks from the ceiling that are down right dangerous and there will not even be an orange cone on the ground to warn people. my son does Jujitsu there and there is always open cleaning chemicals and wet mops right next to the mats where he plays. i often clean up so that he doesnt accidentally trip over them and spill bleach on himself. the Kick Boxing class which shares the same space at the same time often plays very loud hip hop music with bad language that my son can hear. i have brought this to their attention and it is a little better now. i have to swipe my card when i come in for my insurance, and sometimes it logs me in and some times it doesnt. i have taken to confirming with the people behind the desk, but still when i check the next day they say i dont show as having been there. again, this is absurd. that being said,. it is a gym. i get my work out in, and i have found the set of equipment that works for me. my son loves his class and his teachers, and i think they are great too.

I WISH I COULD GIVE 0 STARS. Even on a month to month membership and your card experiences fraud and is automatically cancelled, they continue to bill monthly and with annual fees. Then they have an awful company called Twin Oaks to harrass for the unpaid fees and then hang up on you when you try to ask for more information. Bryan, the "manager" of the actual club was VERY sarcastic and rude to me and had the audacity to bring up an example of a car purchase to me, saying that if we dont make payments on a car they take the car back. Excuse me? What collateral do I have with a gym membership that makes that any kind of comparison?? AWFUL customer service. He is refusing to fax me papers to cancel my membership. He admitted to being a sarcastic prick, and is purposely not sending my fax to cancel my membership until Monday. YET they will still want to bill me. UNBELIEVABLE. FOR AN OLD SMELLY GYM.

Ive gone to several of the local gyms and I really like this one. While it doesnt have some of the frills of some of the other gyms, what it does have is people that are there to focus on their fitness and if thats what you are looking for in a gym then this one is for you. The classes are great and are led by instructors that are there to give you a solid work out each and every time. These classes are not like any classes Ive taken at other gyms. You wont leave any class without feeling like youve been run through the mill! The box fit classes are fantastic too and with those in combination with working with one of the trainers (Mike), Im in the best shape Ive been in in a long time.

This gym is a mixture of old and new equipment which they very cleverly have put on 2 floors. The tread mills are new. The free weight equip is old but they have a lot of it. Early mornings and evenings are packed and it looks like a college gym (along with the smell). But they have done a good job with building the place out. They have a spa and ant-bacterial dispensers all over. The only reason i joined was that its open 24 hours. Most of the staff is also very friendly. Given the two other local gyms, this is by far the best option.
