A.W.E.S.O.M.E experience! I had not worked out for over a year when I signed up for the 6 week challenge. I had all kinds of aches and pain. I was actually a little scared as to what this challenge might entail. Well, 6 weeks later, my aches and pain are GONE! I am only sore from working out. Thats a good sore, no? I no longer have to reach for the Tylenol. My core is stonger. I feel so much healthier. And Ill take coach Mikes vision impairment to my benefit, I lost 10lbs. The Paleo diet wasnt so bad, its how we should all be eating anyway. Great experience! Coach Brad and Mike are very experienced, positive, tough, in a good way and their sense of humor make the workouts not so stressful actually kind of "fun". Its a Love/Hate, I think Im going to die, cant believe its over, I think I want to go back kind of feeling. Join now, you wont regret it! :)

Visited Soulcraft on the recommendation of an old training partner from Toronto who has been training at the gym for the past two-or-so years. The owner welcomed me to drop in for two evening classes - a competition-focused drilling class, and a more general class. Both were fantastic, and offered excellent instruction. The facility was clean and inviting. Everyone I trained with was friendly and welcoming, and all demonstrated a high level of Jiu Jitsu. Brad, the owner, was not only generous and friendly, but I learned a few excellent techniques from him. Definitely carries himself with the demeanour of a teacher and martial artist. I visit New Haven once or twice a year, so Im excited to have a place to train at whenever Im in town. Would strongly recommend this place to anyone thinking of stopping in...

Although I tried group lessons at other dojos, based on my busy schedule constraints I determined that the private lessons option worked best for me in terms of packing as much training and detail into every session, with a dedicated coach to provide real-time instruction and feedback. Brad worked with me to develop a BJJ game plan that suited my skills and interest (age 52 years, non-competition focus, instead with emphasis on self-defense, technical skill development, and (most importantly to me) fitness and sustainability). Brad is a very knowledgable and patient teacher who is engaged and cares about his students progress. The environment at Soulcraft is friendly and welcoming to all, from us older adults down to the kids. I highly recommend Soulcraft Martial Arts for your training needs.

Ive been training jiu jitsu at Soulcraft for five months now, having absolutely no prior background in martial arts. My experience there has been great. The community at Soulcraft is fantastic, very friendly and welcoming. The more experienced grapplers are always willing to help newer people and the instructors do a great job of teaching to both beginning and advanced students in the same class. Overall, the prevailing attitude at Soulcraft is one of respect. The students and instructors are all very respectful and everyone is there to train and get better. Theres a good mix of Gi and No-Gi classes and plenty of jiu jitsu classes at different times throughout the week so its easy to get your training in, even with a busy schedule.

I have been training BJJ for almost a decade off and on and have trained at literally dozens of gyms (including internationally) and Soulcraft is where I would choose to train every time. I would, without hesitation, recommend it to my friends and colleagues and if I had kids, it is exactly the kind of place I would feel great about them training. Brad instills a respect for the sport and for ones partners, blending quality instruction with a constant concern for safety, comfort and cleanliness. There is such a variety of classes offered, there is literally something for everyone! The culture Brad has created has made BJJ and my partners at Soulcraft a very important part of my life.

Before joining Soulcraft BJJ I had never seriously trained a martial art, but I joined with a friend over a year ago, and its turned out to be one of the better decisions Ive made in at least the last decade. The culture and atmosphere at the gym is extremely open and welcoming, and this attitude permeates every level of the training, from instruction to rolling (sparring) to social events. I would wholeheartedly recommend Soulcraft BJJ to anyone who is interested in learning a martial art, all of the instructors provide clear and competent instruction, and all of the other students provide positive feedback and support.

I attended the 6:00AM class as a walk in this morning. I was made to feel welcome. The environment was friendly and the teaching was exceptional. This mornings class was taught by a Purple Belt named Ed. He was teaching 2 variations of a guard pass. He was detailed, professional and encouraging. I enjoyed the class and definitely improved my game. I have attended other classes there before and never had a bad experience. I have had classes with Matthew a Brown Belt and Brad the clubs owner and a Black Belt. I am a Brown Belt and can honestly say I have learned something every time I visited.

Soulcraft is an amazing school. Ive been training Jiu Jitsu and Muay Thai here for a little over two years and love the atmosphere and quality instruction. There is a friendly, welcoming atmosphere and students from all walks of life. All the instructors are great teachers and very technical and detailed in their instruction. Whether you (or your kids) are looking to learn self-defense, get in shape, or even compete, I think you will find Soulcraft a great fit. After 2+ years training, and many new friendships, I cannot recommend Soulcraft highly enough.

I went to Soulcraft Brazilian Jiu Jitsu for a krav maga class. The class was free because I had never done any sort of martial art before. I loved the professionalism of Soulcraft Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. Theres poster with their rules, and you see it as soon as you walk in. For example, knowing that I am to keep talking to a minimum helped me absorb more information from the instructors. I felt very welcome and respected. They are flexible with payment schedules, MAJOR PLUS. I highly recommend to anyone looking to learn martial arts.

Students of Brazilian Jiu Jitsu all around the state know about Brad Wolfson and Soulcraft BJJ. I traveled from Hartford today with my wife and we had a fantastic time at the open mat, getting sparring in with a number of students, and receiving friendly assistance from Brad, as we have on other occasions. Brad is a fantastic teacher, with a true technicians grasp of detail, and a natural instructors gift for breaking things down simply. I recommend a visit to Soulcraft to all of my friends and my own students.

The gents that I met at Soulcraft were simply capital fellows. I was a mere passer-through, only training with them for a couple mornings while traveling. Nevertheless they demonstrated the most space giving kind of hospitality as they allowed me to share the mats and learn from their deft experts. I know next to nothing about the jiu-jitsu culture in greater New Haven, but I can tell you this: Soulcraft is most certainly a place worth feeling out as you look for a jiu-jitsu stomping grounds to call your own.

Ive trained at several BJJ gyms and have to say that Brad is one of the best instructors Ive ever trained with. He explains moves clearly and makes a point not to over-complicate techniques for beginners. The welcoming culture at this gym is great - all the instructors take great pride in what they do and make every effort to accommodate students of all skill levels. I would highly recommend SoulCraft to anyone looking to transform their body, mind, and life.
