For some reason, it seems that the main purpose of the people working there is to prove that you are wrong and that they are right. It seems so important that even an easy-proven wrong first customer like I was will get their full attention and care; so that on every details I am proven wrong. And they do so with as little explanation as possible so that customers remain maximally ignorant and are hence likelier to be wrong again next time. As an other consequence they might turn most of their first time customers into last time customers which, in the end increases the ratio of first time customers and thus their likelihood to be right against customers. Well done! This plan is perfect. But these people have other tricks. As I was being "taken care of" a poor guy looked lost in the next by corridor. The lady that was dealing with my case, in an apparent surge of helpfulness and humanity, informed him that the office he might be looking for was closed for lunch time. The guy, surprised by the offer for help he had not even have time to ask for, came closer to ask his quick question. But the prey was easy and the plan evil. Before he could articulate a full sentence, the now unfriendly lady abruptly stopped him with sensible satisfaction: "I am with a customer. The line is behind." The now disoriented guy, in a last reflex to believe in good intentions tried again to ask the quick question but the answer came enhanced by an enjoyed authority: "I am with a customer. Please go wait on the line." At the end of the day I guess these people enjoy so much complaining about mean and stupid customer that they must keep on turning customer into mean and stupid people, so that, once again, they can enjoy being right. Unfortunately, the only thing they are wrong about is that regardless of their mistakes and ignorance about shipping plans, nice people are always right at the end. And this one thing surely makes them wrong.

HORRIBLE does not begin to describe the complete and utter lack of professionalism and job responsibility that these postal workers display. They are a disgrace to the U.S. postal system. I have had packages and cards go MISSING. I have "mailed" multiple items that were NEVER RECEIVED by the recipient. I have had acknowledgements that even though Priority packages arrived on a certain day, they were not AVAILABLE FOR PICKUP" until 3 or 4 days later. How can that be? How can all of this be permitted to go on? On the rare occasion someone actually picks up the phone (after 15 rings), they are rude, short, uninformed and unprofessional. In person, they will often refuse to come to the window, even when a line is forming. You can hear them back there, you can call out to them, but they refuse to acknowledge that youre there waiting to mail something or pick up something, or buy something. Im utterly convinced that something shady is going on there. That many missing items is beyond coincidental for one post office. And just try to reach someone in charge at the main post office to inquire about what is going on at the Elm St. branch..... THEY NEVER ANSWER THE PHONE. I guess Im the idiot to continue to expect that there should EVER be some type of accountability or responsibility required by these U.S. Postal workers. SHAME. ON. ME.

*Take your business elsewhere* My 90 year-old grandpa can do a better job helping people with their mails than those ignorant fools sitting at this post office. I was waiting in line (there were 5 people ahead of me). There is a very talkative employee (actually most of them are talkative in an annoying way). One of the employees working at the counter was chatting incessantly with a customer (asking the customer if it was the right time to invest in real-estates). I mean, I know its a boring job at the post office but youre paid to do the job not to slack off. After half an hour of waiting, it was finally my term to drop off my boxes for delivery (the boxes had been stamped using PayPal). But the guy (that was talking to the customer mentioned above) said the postage was not valid since it was printed a day before!!!! I appreciated his professionalism and his dedication to his job but I printed it the night before so that I could dropped the packages off in the morning at the post office. I turned my back and picked up the boxes and drove to the post office on *Brewery St* At that office, you can drop your things off and go on with your life. People there are very/really professional: they just finish their business with you and send you off. Absolutely+Positively no BS!

Imagine a post office where every negative stereotype ever uttered about United States Postal Service employees was true. Then imagine a parody of that and you will have a fair approximation of what it is like at this post office. I am not sure what happened to these folks, but something about that place has sucked the life clear out of them. The term drone has never been more appropriate for human beings. Almost to a person, the service is methodical, emotionless, and breathtakingly slow. Each visit is an infuriating ordeal including up to hour-long waits for lines as short as 10 to 15 people. Somewhere along the line I resigned myself to the wait and now spend my time there finding amusement in the squirming of the uninitiated. If you have an hour to spare and would like to witness a true spectacle, visit this post office near the beginning of the semester around lunch time. You are sure to witness some poor sap of an international student looking for help shipping something overseas. These folks invariably run face first into the one woman in the place capable of any emotion at all. That is if you consider contempt an emotion. Rarely have I felt such pity for my fellow man. Rarely have I felt such shame for my country. It must be seen to be believed.

Ter-ri-ble!! Angry employees vent on customers. Yesterday I had a Express box to ship, ready to go, only needed to pay, and I drove 20 minutes with 2 kids to this PO as it was "open" til 5:30p. Raced in and was told they would not accept my package as they were "closed", even though it was only 5:28p (Verizon time on my iPhone). One woman was having a personal conversation with a customer and the other was just standing there listening to them. They were clearly working "bar time" and closing whenever. They wouldnt even acknowledge their "alternative time", just rolled down the security grill in our faces. I dont completely blame the two lazy, mean-spirited, unhelpful employees; the obviously lousy management of such poor performers is responsible as well. Of course, after reading some other reviews, it seems this PO either has only those two employees or they are all poor performers. Use this branch at the risk of rude and caustic employees. Avoid at all costs!

This post office is worse than what anybody here has previously described. Extremely rude, combative and disorganized. Its like they get a kick out of ruining peoples lives by not giving them their mail. My son walked in with tracking number three times saying that the package was there and they refused to get it and said it wasnt there. They said quit worrying about it and come back next week. Finally called the local post office where it was sent from and they called the Yale post office for us because they showed it was there also. All of the sudden they had it the whole time and knew it. The local post office lady who was very polite said they were evil witches herself. She was dismayed at how rude they were to her and couldnt believe it. I wish there was a management person or Postmaster that you could call and let them know that everyone in that office needs fired instantly. The absolute worst customer service you will ever experience in your life.
