I normally dont write negative reviews but this is something that more people should be aware about. I share with you my experience in passport renewal with this post office... Buckle up buckaroos! I contacted this post office via phone and spoke with a woman to set up a passport renewal appointment. I was told that despite me meeting the requirements for the DS-82 form, I had to come in and complete a DS-11 form in person. I argued that this information completely contradicted to what the department of states website has on it. The woman stated that the website is "wrong" and often has misleading information (on a government run website?). Whatever, I thought. I bit the bullet and scheduled an appointment which wasnt until a full week later. Fast forward to appointment time, I had previously called other post offices and fact checked everything on the state travel website and confirmed that I did in fact meet and exceed the requirements for the DS-82 form. So the information I received over the phone was either made up or the employee who took the call was too ignorant on the subject matter and probably shouldnt be conversing with customers. Upon arrival to the post office I was had to wait a short while which was expected so not complaining there. Eventually I speak with one employee whom I dont recall his name, but I introduce myself citing my reason for visit. After taking 1 quick look at my current passport in hand, he immediately tells me that I dont need the DS-11 form and that I do in fact need the DS-82 form. I let him know that I had called them and they told me I needed the DS-11 form. He responds with whoever spoke with me told me the wrong information. No apology or anything, just tough luck type of deal. Oh well, not a big deal thats why I thought ahead and filled out the DS-82 form and had everything ready. Some brief dialog goes by as I am discussing the whole passport process which then eventually leads to talking about the fees. This post office seems to just make up their own fees depending on what mood they are in. I pulled the fee chart straight from travel.state.gov which states $170 for an app+expedited process yet Im simply told that the website run by the department of state, has false information on it and I should listen to him since he works at the post office. At this point I am actually quite baffled at the whole situation and how everything has transpired so far. I asked if he could double check the info to which he replies with a dollar amount about 16 dollars more than what I quoted from the website. That may be valid if I wanted overnight shipping but I stated I did not. The man then asks his 2 other co-workers (verbally out loud) the cost for application + expediting, both of which reply with COMPLETELY two different numbers. I couldnt help but shoot a look at each of them as if I were on some hidden TV prank show or something, it was a completely surreal experience to see such incompetence at a government run facility. Its highly unlikely this review will do anything or be seen, but if you do manage to read it. Do your health and yourself a favor and go to a different post office. I cant guarantee it will be better, but I dont think it could be worse.
