The postal delivery for my business is fairly reliable, but when they forget/neglect to deliver (only about once every 6-8 months), the male who answers the phone is incredibly rude and defensive. Mistakes happen. People forget. Thats perfectly fine. But when the post office is at fault (everyone in my building got mail that day, but incoming mail was not dropped off nor was the outgoing mail taken out), some humility would be welcome. An aggressive/nasty tone is unhelpful to all parties and does not instill respect or trust in this branch. Unfortunately, there is no recourse for this continued behavior and ill-mannered employee and no alternative is available. Steer clear, if possible. The only positive comment I can offer is that the mail was, indeed, delivered later the same day after the phone call was made. ***update 06.29.2017 - after 3 hours of continuous ringing, I was able to talk to a person who was more than friendly, accommodating, and helpful. Upgrading from 1 to 3 stars just because this young man was terrific.

This PO is a nightmare of customer dis-service. They dont even answer the phone. My mail which is supposed to go to my PO Box is being returned to sender or being forwarded to an old address for no reason what so ever. I paid for the box, the address on the returned envelopes are correct and nobody can help. Ive had a PO BOX at this office for 14 years and Ive been yelled at by the postal employees, routinely stood in line for 20-25 minutes each visit and had my mail returned to sender for no reason. The Postal Service wonders why it cant stop losing money - what a laugh. Now I have to drive 25 minutes to try and get the "return to sender situation fixed because nobody will answer the phone. I gave it 1 star because I cant post this review with no stars - which it has justly earned!

Ive been coming here since 2007 since it is my local post office to pick up my packages since I live in the Asylum Hill part of Hartford. I know that most have griped about this place in terms of service, but really the one on Washington Street is 10 times the worse. The workers are friendly though tired of the everyday dealings of customers. But if you go with a friendly attitude and always ask the questions BEFORE you pack your stuff to send if youre unsure of how to send it, then they will be much more appreciative of you not wasting the time they must sometimes get through to each person. The only reason of course is the inevitable line that most weekends and Monday mornings that will accumulate. Also avoid lunchtime because everybody takes at midday. Common sense helps.

I paid for a 2 day service priority mail they charge extra for this service. But what they fail to mention its not 2 day guaranteed it says delivery estimated date. I sent it on the 6th its now the 14th and still no package. I call numerous times no answer. Why have a phone if it doesnt get answered. Or it takes 3 days before u get a hold of someone finally. So unprofessional. But I thank you for losing my biggest customer. I ship a lot for my business and its not been good this time. This box was almost 40.00 to ship out in total. I dont believe the ppl who work there has anything to do with it. But a curtious call or email would of been nice. Maybe an explanation so that I can give my customers an answer. This system blows.

I had a USPS package that was "out for delivery" on 9/12 (it is now 9/21) and I have had the worst time trying to get my package. I cannot get in touch with this office nor the other ones in the area, and USPSs general customer service line is useless. I dont have the address of origin for my package so I cannot file a claim online. I called about half and hour ago, was able to get through, but I was put on hold and then they hung up on me! I always try to be nice and understanding to customer service representatives because I understand that it is a difficult job, but I have no other options when it comes to mail and they are ridiculously terrible.

One star is more than generous for this subpar West Hartford post office branch on Shield Street. Want your mail / packages on time? Avoid shipping through this mess of an office at all costs. I get repeat "Delivery Notices" at my door as the mail carrier seldom bothers to ring the doorbell. When I reschedule deliveries they never show up so I end up calling the post office, where no one answers the phone. Lines at the Post Office are always awful, and the words customer service dont exist here. Very disappointed in this USPS branch.

I called this post office 3 times and I was put on hold 3 times and left waiting each time I had to hang the call up and call again and every time Kevin answered the phone he placed me on hold and never returned. It would have been easier to say we are busy, please call us at.... Worst service ever! Where do I file an IG complaint?

Very disappointing service. They will never ring the doorbell and just put a yellow slip. Re-delivery option is really horrible. They will never show up for re-delivery. Even after 3 re-delivery confirmation no one showed up and I had to ultimately forget about that package. No one picks up the customer service phone as well !

very long lines no matter what day or time you go in, always short-staffed, really bad attitudes from the workers, lots of unprofessionalism in the way of inappropriate conversation topics in front of customers - definitely not what I would rate as superior customer service from these USPS workers at this branch

There are definitely some awesome and I mean AWESOME staff members there, but then theres Ed. An absolute nightmare. Thank you Stu, Ginger and a few others that always make my experience excellent but again that Ed character leaves a lot to be desired. smh. Awful customer service.

Never answers the phone, doesnt delivery mail, doesnt leave pink slips when packages are held at post office, returned numerous packages to shipper without ever leaving notice or trying to deliver more than once. Failure of a business, much less a government

The worst customer service ever!! Dont bother calling because they wont ever pick up the phone, and if they lost or destroyed your package they can care less! They should better their customer service approach to the one who pay their salary!

These people are ridiculous beyond belief - four calls to have a package returned to the shipper, four promises that it would be done. In the end I had to come in person to make them do it myself. UPS/FedEx, heres your cue.

Worlds worst customer service. Never delivers > Never picks up the phone for redelivery > Never Re-delivers. Close this place down. I hope everyone in that office lose their jobs. They aint doing ones in the first place.

Compared to some of the other Hartford location USPS reviews, Im glad I use this one for the slight extra drive - never an issue here, anything on hold here I can get no problem, and the wait times are fairly minimal.

My mom sent a package to Puerto Rico and it was supposed to get their 3 days before mothers day but it arrived to the person a month later. They couldnt offer anything but an apology. She paid for the service!!!
