I was in a bad situation and my aunt was kind enough to help. She sent me a $200 Uhaul gift certificate so I did not lose my storage. I called and confirm with UHAUL and they give me the go ahead. I fill out the certificate and head on my way the next morning. When I get there the lady behind the counter tells me I need a credit card. I tell her I have a gift certificate. She called another associate and then tells that I pay after the trip with the gift certificate. I knew I could not make the trip in time to get back by 7pm, so I come back early the next day. The new associate (the one the other one called the day before.) tells me I still need a credit/debit card with $100 on it, even though I have a gift certificate. Wait, that wasnt what was told me on the phone. I ask her, "Why would I get a gift certificate if I already had the cash?, that didnt make sense at all". Alright, well then I will have to go about this another way. I asked her, "How do I get my aunt her money back?" She answered, "I am not sure, call corporate". I call corporate. Guess what? They dont do refunds on gift certificates. Although it states, "no cash refunds", it means no refunds. I explained everything multiple times to Gavin, the customer service supervisor. All he is able to do is message the man behind the curtain, who denied the refund. After all of the times I have used Uhaul, they get stingy with $200 that they misrepresented. Hmm, perhaps I will give my 14 year old daughter the certificate for an early going to college present. As a veteran and someone that still serves, I move often and all over. I have always used Uhaul. After this, not again.

I had a horrible experience with this UHAUL of Brandon. They charged me $209.13 for renting a 17 foot truck for 2 days. Said it was due to my keeping the vehicle for longer than my contract when I called each day to inform them of my situation. They STILL CHARGED ME THE FULL AMOUNT OF THE RENTAL PLUS LATE FEES PLUS GAS WHICH I HAVE RECEIPTS FOR AND MADE ME BRING THE TRUCK BACK TO THEM INSTEAD OF RETURNING TO A LOCAL UHAUL IN MY AREA. THIS WAS NOT DISCUSSED AT THE TIME OF RENTING. I WAS TOLD I COULD DROP OFF IN TAMPA AND THEN WAS MADE TO DRIVE AN ADDITIONAL 30 MINUTES AND MILLEAGE ADDED TO MY BILL. IN MY OPINION THEY ARE HORRIBLE SCAMMERS WHO RIP OFF PEOPLE. REALLY $209.13 FOR 3 DAYS FOR A 17 FOOT VAN TRUCK.. PENSKE IS MUCH BETTER AND THE PEOPLE ARE NICER AND CONCERNED FOR THEIR CLIENTS. NOT SO MUCH HERE..THEY ARE OUT TO GET YOUR MONEY!!!! BEWARE!!!! AND WERE VERY VERY VERY RUDE TO ME AT BOTH THE FLORIDA AVENUE LOCATION AND THE BRANDON LOCATION. I WILL NEVER IN MY LIFE USE UHAUL AGAIN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Took truck in for wiring harness to be installed and was told one hour. Two and a half hours later, got my truck back. Went home to hook up my camper, wiring wasnt working. Took truck back and was told to come back today. Was told I needed a relay, two trips to the auto parts later Im told the old relay may be good but the wiring still isnt working and they dont have the tools to check where the issue is. Maybe instead of having 100 trucks cluttering their parking lot they can buy their techs the tools they need to do their job. Summer walks the parking lot smoking instead of getting involved with customer complaints and Brian sits on his phone with a scowl on his face. UPDATE: took it to another uhaul in Riverview. Ended up being the ground wire. $35. I can return the $30 relay I didnt need.

Mis-quoted & mis-charged. First worker claimed they or neighboring uhauls didnt have small van sizes. Online said differently. Then they claimed itd be more expensive and that we couldnt drop the truck at a different location. Kept trying to get this man to explain why and he finally said itd be more expensive, $83. Told him it wasnt the price quoted online. He basically ignored us so we said fine we need to leave, (a line was forming) and paid still telling him that wed never had such a problem. So he said look at the computer, if you dropped it elsewhere itd be $73. $73 is less than $83 and more convenient than driving back there. Incompetent.

The WORST experience imaginable. Made a reservation two days prior. Showed up, they said they were over booked. There was a truck in the lot they refused to let us rent, saying it was reserved for someone else. They sent our reservation to a facility that was already closed. Then, they rescheduled me for 8AM the next morning. We arrive to the facility at 8AM, they are not open. We called customer support and they gave us two non working numbers for alternate locations. We called Budget and got a rental in under five minutes. I will NEVER use UHaul again!!

About 10 years ago, a friend of mine was at a party, and everyone there got hammered. One thing led to another, and another drunken fella tried to rip the door off my friends Mustang. He didnt succeed entirely, but he did manage to mess that door up quite a bit. When everyone sobered up, this fella offered to pay to fix it. Fine and dandy, but when my friend went to rent a car, he found out he was too young. However, he was old enough to rent from U-Haul. Long story short, he drove a 19 foot U-Haul truck around town for a solid week. True story.

Truck had severe brake issues which was very noticeable once loaded. Brake rotors were beyond warped. I would consider them to be more along the lines of bent then warped. The severe shaking felt like the wheels were going to fall off when the brakes were applied. The interior lights and cargo lights were both burned out so I had to go to the auto parts store to buy replacement bulbs to have light so I could safely unload the truck. @122xxx miles I think it time for this truck to be retired.

If I could give them zero stars, I would. Did not receive equipment I rented with my truck. I called, was told I could come back and pick it up (didnt work with my timeline). They supposedly credited my account. However, I was still billed for the equipment. The speedy check-in process still kept me waiting in line for 20 minutes prior to getting the truck. My suggestion? Penske. Much better trucks, better customer service, and they dont make foibles like this.

After an awful experience with another trucking company, we called Uhaul. They got us a truck, quickly explained the cost and got us ready within minutes. The staff was friendly and knowledgeable. The cost are straight forward and there are no hidden charges. Our move was quick, easy and reasonably priced. We will use Uhaul for all of our moves!
