This place is amazing! I have gone here for a regular meal as well as their special events (Valentines Day, Day of the Dead and New Years). We have gone here enough that the manager approaches our table and carries a conversations us. This occurred even when we first went there! The quality of the food is incredible and the manager always talks about how great his waiters and waitresses are. He has all of them standing in front of the customers and calls them by their name. Then he conveys his gratitude for the great work that they do. I see this everytime I go to their special events, which is frequent. Even the chef comes out to talk about the food that has been prepared for that particular event. Everything made looks and taste fresh. I try something different everyone I go and I have never been disappointed!!! The only negative thing I can say is that restaurant is a little small, so it fills up quick.

About a 35 minute drive from Daytona Beach Shores and well worth the trip. Located along the quaint old town like streets of Deland (founded during the late 1800s), you"ll find other interesting architecture points of interest along with interesting shops and restaurants. The enchiladas combination is fantastic specialty of the house. My wife had the Cinco Tazas and her mother had the pork tamales. We finished with the flan and tres leches desserts. Everything was excellent. Also, they partnered with the wine bar across the street incorporating paring recommendations that are outstanding. If you like wine, sangria or just a good Mexican beer, youll be in heaven. Since we were first time customers, they gave us each an aspirinas appetizer. Thoughtful touch. I will be making this a dinning destination whenever Im near Deland.

penachos usually has pretty good, fairly authentic, made-from-scratch food. we havent been for a while, but decided to try it tonight... dia de los muertos... TOTALLY UNDERWHELMED. for $18 a set menu... totally phoned it in. tiny portions. the soup tasted like stock poured over yesterdays vegetables. the salad, which was advertised as having perfectly roasted nopales was CLEARLY made from low-quality, canned nopales... the entree was made in advanced and broiled until it was tough. the mole was watery and flavor free... blech. listen, if youre going to have a fixed menu, make sure it tastes good. very disappointing. well make it a point to skip penachos next time.

I was lucky enough to be introduced to this restaurant during a business luncheon, and I have to say it was AMAZING! Not only was the entire staff friendly, helpful and knowledgeable but they had high-end food items youd expect to see in a high-dollar restaurant. The best part? It didnt have a high dollar price! Their Queso is some of the BEST I ever had and I had their four enchilada meal (my favorite was the one with the red bean paste - YUM!), and all of the other lunches at our table had beautiful presentations and flavors. The tapas are great for mixing, matching and sharing. Super clean facility, and everything rates a 5-star! HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!

How can you make awesome more awesome? Well, De La Vega has done it. To say that it is difficult to find restaurants when youre a vegan is an understatement. Not only did we find a restaurant with more than one thing on the menu we could eat, they had 10! Weve tried seven or eight dishes at this point and loved them. The thing about it is, each one is exceptional. Its not just rice, beans and grilled vegetables. Were talking complex flavor combinations that make each dish a delight. Im sure the non vegan food is just as exceptional. Run, dont walk to De La Vega! By the way, we loved Nicolette. She takes great care of us. We ask for her every time.

We love eating at small family owned and operated restaurants and Dela Vega is among the best. Really excellent food. Weve eaten here every week or so for 3 years now and never been disappointed. Its not your typical Mexican restaurant. Gourmet food cooked fresh from scratch everyday. Gordon Ramsey wouldnt find anything wrong with Chef Noras food. Its one of the only restaurants open in De-Land on Sunday evening. We love everything on the menu and weve tried it all. If youre a vegan or have any food allergies- no problem theyll cook especially for your diet requirements.

Not many restaurants open on Sunday. We were offered a sampling of wine but not told of the price until we asked. It was the most expensive one on their wine list. The waitstaff screwed up on our friends order ( which was reported on past evaluations). So we got our dinner but had to wait 10-15 minutes for our fellow diners to get theirs.I ordered a special margarita and my husband ordered a house margarita. Not until much later the server told us it was 2 for 1 on my husbands drink. If I had known from the start I would have ordered the 2 for 1.

The kind of meal you remember My wife and I had about Half of the tapas small plates to try many dishes. They were all exceptional. Were such fans of great food that we have driven 200 miles to eat at a world renowned chefs restaurant. De la Vega was every bit as great and better! The mole is deep and rich, the grilled Cactus dish is filled with unexpected textures, the flan is a perfect custard with ample vanilla flavor. Every dish was an adventure and the staff was incredibly kind and helpful. Easily one of the top meals of our lives.

The real art on the wall adds a lot to the atmosphere; the food is authentic Central Mexican cuisine punctuated with creative, gourmet specials. After years of searching for authentic tamales like those I ate from Mexico, I finally found them at De La Vega! This restaurant has fashioned every detail of your experience with thoughtfulness to maximize your experience. I think this is the best truly Mexican restaurant in Central Florida, and I know dozens of people who agree.
