Ive visited Aqua Aveda twice for color services and have been happy with color administered by Scott. I would recommend him to anyone. My problem with the salon is that on both occasions Ive tried to schedule other services and it hasnt gone well. The first time, I wanted an eyebrow wax while my color was processing. I was told over the phone this would be no problem and it was booked. So, I had my color done and then 20 minutes into no one had come by for the wax. I had to go to the counter twice to remind them and then Scott had to flag someone down. Eventually someone came wandering out of the back to do it. The second time I visited the salon, I told them over the phone Id like a chair massage sometime during the appointment. Again, the woman asked "While your color is processing." So, I said yes. Again, my color processed and nothing. I didnt even bother asking this time because the massage would have taken 20 mins and by the time they would have had their act together, my color would be done. So, being a little mad, I just sat there wondering why the salon is turning down money. I did want this as a treat, but when you have time to think about it you start to think about the extra cost, time involved and it just doesnt sound fun anymore. But, get this, when I got to the register they had it included in my bill! Once again, I was scheduled for services and wasnt going to receive them unless I asked? Anyway, Scott is a great stylist. I completely blame the girls up front checking people in and doing the billing for not getting it together. After all, they are the ones who read the appointment schedule, right? Ill go back to Scott but Im going to stop trying to schedule anything else there. I can go other places for waxes and massages and not have to beg for it.

I went to this salon on my wedding day because they were close to the wedding location and where we were getting ready. There were 5 girls total, me (the bride) and 4 bridesmaids, and out of all of us, only 2 ended up with a good result. It was myself and 2 other bridesmaids who had the problems. The other 2 bridesmaids problems were that it hadnt even been an hour since their hair had been done and the pins holding everything in place were falling out, and they were simple updos. However, my problems were not that simple. When I arrived with one of my bridesmaids, one of the girls behind the counter appeared to have an attitude and acted stuck up towards both of us, but I let that go. For my style, I brought 3 pictures and they were all from different sides so you could see everything about the style, although that was a waste. My hair turned out NOTHING like the picture style. It was going fine up until the end when she started to finish and get it all pulled together. I wanted a simple, loose half up do with loose curls and that did not happen. It was pulled tight against my head and she put the hair that was pulled back in a rubber band instead of pins and did not try to hide the rubber band! She also did not know how to put my headband on correctly and burnt my forehead with the curling iron. I eventually just gave up and said it would do and left, but thank goodness my sister was able to save the day and fix my hair! For the money my girls and I paid, it was not worth it. I would not recommend this salon!

Im giving this three stars for now because today I had a mixed experience. When I called to book a brow waxing I asked how much itd be to get a trim. I was told that there is no special trim price but a haircut was $40. That was a good price, so I booked that, too. Heres the good part -- I had a good brow wax from a lovely woman called Susan (I think), and a nice light massage and haircut and styling tips from a lovely woman called Rachel (I think). I was happy with my haircut and brows, and I was thinking about coming back there in a month or so for a perm. Then I went to pay and was told that the bill was $75! I questioned it and was told that the price for a haircut was $55. I said that on the phone, I was clearly told the price was $40. The receptionist said she was sorry. Later I called the salon and spoke to the manager. I explained that her receptionist had made a mistake and I asked for a $15 credit for my next visit. The person I spoke to checked with the manager and then said no, they did not do credits, and it was "very unlikely" that the receptionist would have told me the wrong price. I told her that if they wouldnt give me a credit, I would not be back. So then I got the credit, and I will gladly go back and try again, but next time Im going to be careful to check the prices and not rely on the receptionist to tell me what Im paying! Hope to give a full 5 stars next time.

I went here for an updo for my beach wedding. It was the closest location to the beach and the most upscale salon I could find. I was told they had a very experienced updo stylist who did all the wedding updos so it sounded perfect. I brought 3 large pictures of the same hairstyle I found online, and knew the technique that was used (using a flat iron to twist the hair for ringlets) and even after showing, telling, and explaining exactly what I wanted, one hour later my hair looked NOTHING like what I wanted. when I mentioned while she was doing it that it didnt look right she reminded me "ive been doing this for 30 years" so I shut my mouth waiting for end result. Oh and since they recommended I come in right before my photographer arrived for pics there was no time to redo it, unless i wanted to waste an hour (or $150 in photography) of my time to redo it. it was a nightmare. WOULD NOT RECOMMEND FOR UPDOS!!! they do not listen to customers and it was wicked expensive. i did call the owner to mention that I was not satisfied, and was told i would get a gift card...10 weeks later still no gift card. I always look at reviews before going to a place and appreciate an accurate review so this is mine.

I visited your salon on Thursday, 8/11, and had my hair colored, cut and styled. When I arrived I was warmly greeted by the staff and asked if I wanted anything: water, coffee, tea etc. I was given a color cape and asked to have a seat and that the Stylist would be with me shortly. Soon, Lauren came over, warmly greeted me and led me to her station to begin to evaluate what I wanted to have done. She colored, cut and styled my hair and it all turned out beautifully. Lauren always takes the time needed to do everything well; and while doing all these things, she still manages to be friendly, pleasant and interesting. Everytime I leave your salon, I am happy and satisfied with the service I have received. I also use many of your hair and skin products which I find to be of excellent quality.
