Based upon the many reviews of the customers of Greek Moving we contracted with Greek to move us 3 miles to our new home. I must say, Greek was not the cheapest, but my wife wanted to use them so we did. Before I get into the issues, I must say John, the owner, is a stand up guy and did his best to make things right. Thats why Greek got three stars. If it wasnt for John, Id be giving this company no stars if that was possible. Unfortunately this review is more about Zach the operations manager than Greek Moving. Zach, the operations manager responsible for scheduling the moves, called us the evening before our move and informed us the crew would be arriving at our old address to pick up the furniture between 5:30AM and 7:00AM. A little before 7 we received a call from Zach and the old us that the truck that was supposed to be at our house was delayed from the previous evening because that customer refused receipt of their furniture. Greeks truck was not allowed into that community before 9AM on Saturday so they would be getting to me around 10:30AM. Zach said he would call us back about 10AM to confirm. 10AM came and went (we had been waiting since 5:30AM) and no call from Zach. We called him about 10:15 and he told us another story and said he was trying to find another crew to get to us sooner, but now its 2PM before anybody can get there. At 2PM no call, no movers and I now have a wife that is ready to take the bridge. I called Zach, another story, another excuse, now its going to be 3:30PM to 4:00PM. I asked to speak with the owner and Zach says he is the only management on duty, of course he is, he doesnt want John, the owner, to find out how incompetent he is. Finally about 3:45 the movers show up, but now we have an additional problem, one that if they would have been on time, wouldnt be an issue, they wouldnt be allowed in my new community after 6:00PM. Fortunately I was able to special permission after telling my story, this story, to the president of the association. The movers finished at about 7:30PM. Were they careful? Everything was wrapped and protected and only 2 glasses were broken, however these guys were tired and boxes were dropped in a single area and not put in their proper place, furniture was brought in the house, but was not properly set. Power cords that were part of our bed and recliners which were taped up underneath were not released or plugged in and we had to pick up heavy recliners and a heavy adjustable bed, that we paid them to move and set up, to cut the tape to release the power cords. Our dinning room table which needed to be taken apart to move was put back together but now its wobbly. Im sure its just not tightened properly, but again, I paid them to do the job and they didnt do it or at least didnt do it to Greeks normal standards. Greek as a Best Move Ever Guarantee, I asked Zach what that was and he didnt know or what was backing up the guarantee. Honestly, he mostly didnt answer. I asked a question and it was silence, I timed over a minute of silence at one time. The owner, John, did call and at least made the financial part of the transaction right. although, I would have preferred to pay the full price and had the work performed to the standards Greek Moving say they have. The poor guys that moved us worked their butts off and lets face it, their mediocre work was because they were tired. Based on Zachs performance I wouldnt recommend Greek to anybody and if John reads this review, Zach should be fired for his performance on Saturday. Totally incompetent and unacceptable as my sole representative of Greek Moving. Im sorry John, my experience with your company was such that I would have to think long and hard before recommending Greek Moving to anybody.

UPDATE: Within 24 hours of posting of the below review the owner called to apologize, expressed genuine concern over my damaged stuff, and offered to compensate me for my damaged items. I was very impressed at the commitment to doing right by the customer, and appreciated him taking the time to listen to my concerns. Because of this prompt attention to customer service, I am updating my rating to 5 starts. I would definitely hire this company again, as I feel confident that they would do whatever it takes to make the customer satisfied. Thank you!!! --- I hired them to move me from my 3rd floor apartment in Florida to my 3rd floor apartment in Texas. Nick drove an hour from West Palm to Ft. Lauderdale during rush hour to quote me a price right in the middle of the range I was told to expect. Considering the horror stories Id heard of companies low balling you and then holding your stuff hostage for more money later, I appreciated the honesty There was no problem scheduling pickup, and the movers who picked up my stuff were quick and efficient. Once I had an apartment in Texas I called them to schedule delivery of my stuff, which they did within ten days. I was disappointed with the guys who delivered my stuff, though because they were younger and less professional than the ones who picked it up in Ft. Lauderdale. Additionally, they only brought two workers instead of three. This lack of an extra worker meant that it took a LONG time for them to unload my 1 bedroom apartment (four hours). Also, one of the movers, who looked like he was barely out of high school, moved my dresser into position by rocking it side-side, causing the screws and nails holding it together to become dislodged and nearly causing it to fall apart. Consequently, if I ever move again I will have to replace, rather than move, the dresser since its so badly damaged. Additionally, they ruined a lamp shade on my favorite floor lamp by wrapping it too tight. Since that lamp has been discontinued I am unable to get a replacement shade for it. I called and left a message for them to discuss the issue but they never responded. The ruined dresser and lamp shade are the reasons I rated them 3 starts instead of 4 or 5. Had they gone with more experienced workers on the receiving end and been more gentle with my dresser, and brought along a third worker to speed up the process, I wouldve rated them higher. But overall it couldve been worse: they didnt rip me off; accommodated my schedule for pickup and delivery; and up until I left a message for them to discuss my damaged dresser, I had good communication with them. Additionally, every other piece of furniture I had moved, including a new leather sleeper sofa, entertainment center, and other furniture, arrived without incident. Nothing fragile broke, either.

I would not use Greek Movers again; they tried to overcharge me at every turn. Before signing up with Greek Movers I negotiated with them to get the travel time down, the rates down and materials included, which they agreed to. The very first thing that happened in the morning is that the crew leader tried to get me to sign off on having an increased travel time and no materials included. After I showed him the estimate I was given, he argued with me saying only wrap was included but not tape. Fortunately, I had an email from the individual at Greek Movers which said both were included. This was the first red flag. Then, once we arrived at the new house, they made me pay based off of an estimate of a 1 and a half hour unloading time, which is fine, thats what the contract requires, plus, I was told that any unused time would be refunded. Well, after they finished the unloading in about 40 minutes, the crew leader tried to get me to sign an addendum to agree to pay for the full one and a half hours of unloading, a difference of about $60 or so. He tried to pressure me and justify it in many different ways. I called the office right away and explained the situation to them, and they assured me that I would be refunded and that I would be paying based on the 40 minutes instead of the one and a half hours. Well, they didnt refund the ~$60 and had the job in the system as taking the full one and a half hours. I called them again, and they said they would refund it, yet again. Unfortunately, I still havent received my refund. The funny thing is, had they not tried to overcharge me, they would have made more than the $60 in a tip, and had a recommendation for me as the move itself was efficient, and they made sure everything was wrapped well. Instead, Im now going to tell my story to anyone who asks me about movers and let them decide if they want to use Greek Movers.
