Complaint Description: Low balling estimates and overcharging for storage. We contracted with this company for a move and to store some furniture and the experience was horrible. Ken Scallions - gave us an estimate that was way off on the move (advice - make sure you get a not to exceed price from this guy - because he just low balls by a huge margin). They were also going to store some furniture for us until we completed building a house and moved it agaiin - he told us in his estimate it would need a 10X15 or at worse a 10X20. When we got the storage bill they stated it would not fit in those and had to put it in two 10X20s and that DOUBLED the storage bill on a monthly basis. For weeks we tried to get this resolved and he was increditly NON responsive (until we got the BBB involved. Then we went to the storage facility to see if we could just get it switched to our name. They told us they were not in two 10X20s as Ballantyne and Beyond stated and was billing us for. They were in fact in two 10X10s and that they had billed Ballantyne and Beyond for two 10X10s at half the price. Ballantyne and Beyond then billed us double what they had paid (was supposed to be NO mark up. And continued to insist they could not fit them in what was originally estimated and had to put them into the larger ones (but they did not put them into the larger ones). Their moving guys put them in there... they knew they were 10X10s B&B went over and took pictures and told us look we had to stuff the items in there and insisted they put them in 10X20s. Now he says - they caught it and brought it to our attention which is just untrue. We caught it by going over there and confronted him with it. We showed him the billing from Ballantyne and Beyond that he insisted was right for two 10X20s and double the price. We have had difficutly believing anything they have stated honestly. Dont make the same mistake we made with them and lesson leared definetly dont trust his estimates or his storage calcuations or fees. We would never use them again - NO WAY.

Wow...Im still in disbelief after my conversation today about damages to my furniture after being moved into a storage facility. Let me start off by saying that I didnt use professional movers when I relocated from Virginia to Charlotte,NC and my furniture paid the price. So this time I decided to hire professional movers. So, my house was moved last year into a storage facility and the move went smoothly or so I thought....Fast forward to April 30th, 2017 as Im moving out of my 10x20 storage unit that was filled front to back, top to bottom and I could barely open the door. As Im moving my things out for transport to my new home Im finding damage after damage....broken antiques, ripped fabric on a chair, scratches on filing cabinets and furniture, handle broken of a chest of drawers, dents on my washer and dryer and the list goes on. I contacted them about the damages and was told their liability ended once they placed it in storage as they have no idea what might have happened while in the storage unit and someone else may have handled it and done the damage.....Really, the unit was filled from front to back and top to bottom.....I couldnt have moved anything if I tried. Not to mention I took pictures of the damages as I found them "in the storage unit". The person I spoke with did tell me that if I had stored with them or they had done this move as well they would have responsibility. Its their policy. I could have an owner call me to explain it to me if I want....really, whats the point. Clearly they do not accept responsibility for a poor move! And now I have to try to find someone to repair / replace the damages. I will never use them again and will be certain to tell everyone I know as well.

I ordered an oversized couch from Restoration Hardware (115"+, 300 lbs+) and the moving company who delivered it said there was no way they could get it into my place. Instead of returning it, I had them store it in my office while I tried to figure out other options. Ballantyne & Beyond Moving had already done a fantastic job of moving all of the other stuff into my place so I called them up to see if they would be able to help with the couch. I spoke the owner and within minutes they were scheduled to come out and try to deliver the couch the next day. The couch wouldnt fit thru the normal doorway, so they hoisted it up thru a SECOND STORY window and found a way to get the job done. I just cant say enough good things about these folks. There professionalism, attention to detail and even price were all truly outstanding. More than anything, they actually cared...which does not seem to be the case with most moving companies. HIGHLY recommend!

Hi Ken, We just wanted to let you know how glad we are that we decided to have Ballantyne and Beyond move us on the 2nd. Your team was so professional, so efficient, so polite---and they were even patient with our toddler who was running around everywhere at times. The two men who packed up the garage did a fabulous job; we were shocked at how quickly they were able to get that huge mess boxed up. And the four-man moving team did a great job making sure none of our furniture was damaged and that all of our boxes made it safely. You have a really good team of guys, and I would without hesitation recommend your moving company to anyone I know who is looking to relocate. Please give them a sincere thank you from us and a "high five" from our 21 month old son (who was quite impressed with the moving trucks, by the way). Sincerely, Claudia and Brian K.

We had them move a very expensive bedroom suit and when they were done we left right behind them to go clean up the old house. The next day we go to put the bed together and notice that the headboard had been broke. So we call and tell them they tell us they have to talk to the movers. They talk to them dont know what was said they find pieces of my headboard in the truck. So the tell me they have to look into what to do about it and they will get back with me. The next day we get a email saying that they are going to cut me a check for 60 dollars for the headboard that cost me 1100 dollars 2 years ago. Needless to say I wouldnt recommend nor will I ever use these people again. Thinking of getting bill McGinty on the news to show how they treat your stuff then when they mess it up they dont do nothing to fix or replace it

We have used Ballantyne movers twice in 7 months. The first time was good. For the second time, the movers asked what we had "new" for them to move. We told them we had a fridge and a bunch of stuff from a Pack Rat container. This was not factored in, because they showed up with the same-sized truck. They couldnt get everything into the truck, so we ended up spending 2 extra days moving stuff ourselves. They also scratched a number of items, due to their haste. On a positive note, their prices were good and the office is professional. The workers were prompt and only spent 30 minutes for lunch. I might use them again, but with better communication ahead of time--perhaps the office could ask more specific questions, in order to have the right-sized truck?
