Just got off of the phone with Mike. Ive had very bad experiences before with many of the automotive shops around Winter Park, but even just talking to Mike on the phone, he made it clear what I was getting and for what price! I know nothing about cars, and he walked me through the process over the phone of how to get the information from different parts around my car so that he could get me the best possible estimate over the phone. He than let me know the prices of everything, and how long it would take. Seriously the best service Ive ever had--I will never be going anywhere else! :) -------- I thought I would update this review with more information! I went to Mike 3 times within the course of 3 months. I had bought a car used about a year and a half prior, and every 6 months or so something would need to be fixed. I brought it to him the first time after posting the initial review and Mike was great with explaining everything he was doing and he showed me exactly what he replaced. One issue I did have, though, is that the part that I THOUGHT needed replaced (I thought the oil tray had a crack and leak in it,) wasnt broken at all. Yet, he still replaced it? He even showed me how it was fine, but yet, how he still replaced it as we had spoken about. I wasnt too upset, I was sure it wasnt going to hurt to give it something newer. After getting the car back from him it ran kind of funny... It almost seemed to sputter and jump a bit sometimes when it was idle. Since the car IS a Neon I didnt think much of it, I know theyre not the best things around. That first visit he was very kind and polite and everything was done WAY before he had initially said it would be. I was very impressed. Well, unfortunately for whatever reason my car completely stalled and shut off and died in the MIDDLE of Semoran on my way to work one day just a week and a half later. Beside myself, I called Mike and had it towed to his shop. This time, the work took 2.5 times longer than he initially said it would and I was without my car for 2 weeks! Finally we were able to go and get the car again. This time when I started it, I couldnt stand how it barely sounded like it was alive. The car didnt even sound like we would be able to make it home!! The issue had something to do with a piston mis-firing, or some such... and he ended up replacing that as well for another few hundred dollars. (This is when we thought we were going to pick the car up so I could have it again.) Another week later, and we finally get the car back. Its still driving much more horribly at that point than it EVER had and I still dont know why or what was done to it. A month after receiving the car back, the car began over heating after 3 minutes of driving. (This was something we had also asked him to check out the last time we had brought it into him.) When it did, I took it home and parked it. A day later we went to start it to see if we could figure out what was wrong on our own, and the car wouldnt even start. To this day (about 6 months later) the car just sits in the parking lot because it doesnt run. The car ran almost PERFECTLY minus that small oil issue it had before bringing it to Mike, but after bringing it to him every single time we went in, it seemed like there was more wrong with the car that we needed to go back to him for. I just really cant imagine why my car was almost perfectly fine before, and than within about a month and a half (after seeing Mike 2-3 times) it wont even run anymore. He seemed like a really nice and awesome guy so I dont know if he would purposefully mess something up so you had to go back... but thats almost the impression we were getting. (Especially because he went on a tangent the last time we were there about how The right mechanic can make any car run forever.) Well... my car isnt running anymore at all, and I still dont know why.

Horrible experience. Cheap work, no responsibility for damages incurred to your car while your car is left on his property. I took my 91 MR2 that is in excellent condition for simple bumper replacement after someone hit me in a parking lot. Did not do the job right the first time, peeling paint. I left the car in HIS parking lot as directed by Mr. Philip himself since he comes into work around 10. I got a call saying my fender was damaged around later that morning. When I arrive my whole LH fender is driven in. A truck ran my fender over (my car is very low). He tried to cover it up when it was obvious it was a truck the same size as his or his neighbors that ran over it, tire marks and all on my side marker. His neighbors truck was parked right next to mine in the morning. He took me for a fool and said it wasnt his responsibility. ONLY apologized, popped the fender out, and offered to repair it for $200. He fixed the peeling paint on the bumper at the moment, and now 2 months later paint is peeling all over the rest of the bumper. This guy doesnt know what he is doing with the primer and obviously used very cheap materials. I will not even take the car back to him to fix the peeling paint as he will probably only mess something else up. Im going to have to spend money for someone to do the job he was payed to do.STAY AWAY beware.

Ive had so many other auto shops around Winter Park and Orlando try to rip me off because Im a young college student and people think they can work one over on me because Im a kid, Im so glad I found Phillips Automotive. I needed a serpentine belt replacement and started calling around town to find a good price, some people wanted hundreds of dollars for the job, one even quoted me at a thousand. Then I decided to call Phillips after seeing all these positive reviews and I couldnt be more pleased. This was the only place I called that gave me a reasonable price, the work was finished very quickly, the owner is very nice and knowledgeable. From now on this is going to be my go to place for auto repairs.

Mikes shop was the second of three in the area I visited for an estimate on some body work. Hands down, he was the friendliest and most helpful of the guys I talked to. Then I noticed a truck I recognized in one of his bays - turns out it belonged to a friend of mine who had been swiped on University a week or two back. Well, with a good first impression and a friends recommendation, the choice was easy. Im happy to say I wasnt disappointed. On the contrary, Mike did a great job for a good price, kept an open line of communication through the whole process, and was always up-front and honest with me. I recommend him highly.

Mike Phillips is the best around by far! Other places told be to they didnt think they could fix my problem. Mike looked at it and gave me an estimate the same day. He got Ford on the phone and found the piece I needed to be replaced. Other places told me to go to a junk yard. He even held my truck and kept it safe while I was away on winter break from school. He met me at his shop the day I got back, which was a day he was closed, and it looked like nothing even happened to my truck. He even went under the estimate he gave me. If I could give it 6 stars, I would. Mike is the best!
