As a returning customer, today I dropped my Toyota car to this Car-X for checking Air-conditioner. After about one hour, the salesperson called me and told me to fix the A/C for $1,050. I was surprised because just a few months ago the cost was only $700 for change of the compressor and refill Freon. I asked why the price jumps so much. He said the compressor self costs $650. I checked the compressor price online (note: my car is 2001 Toyota, Corolla CE), the prices are between $200~350. He said I could bring my parts and he just charges labor. He feels I am not going to fix the A/C, and mentioned that the all four brakes need to be replaced. One thing was catching my attention---two drums for rear brakes. Why did the two drums need replaced? The technician said that the inside diameter is 187mm, its too big. I have no idea about the diameter should be as most of customers. But the drums look ok and I have no problem with the brakes. Because the two drums cost total $159.98 (parts=$59.99x2, labor=$20), I asked if I could keep the two drums. But Car-X refused. Since I had no choice, I let them change the drums. I decided to search the specification of the drum online, and found out the spec says the drum needs replaced only if the diameter is bigger than 200mm. My old drums are still usable. And the price of Bendix Drum which was the Car-X used for my car is only $24.24 (not $59.99). When I brought my questions to the salesman, l heard him said some F- word to his people when he got into the workshop. This was a horrible experience, and totally different than my previous experiences. The salesman said the previous owner-- Byron just retired three months ago. Things started changing. The new salesman made me feel differently. I see all the 5 stars reviews were posted at least one year ago, and I agreed with those review, and was the reason I became its customer. But now it is not worth 5 stars anymore. I would grade it as no stars at all if there was the choice.

I go to Car X because the service is great and I felt that they always were honest, so I was appalled at the service I received on my last visit which is now under new management. Not only was I there for over two hours despite making an appointment, but Car X won this time. What I should have thought was they are ripping me off and said no to apparently the two largest scams car shops pull on people, and even though I point blank asked if these were needed (engine flush and fuel injection cleaning) and was told yes I believed with the faith that I had in them and said yes. It was only after the fact that I learned I didnt need either of these since my car is six year olds. After the work had been done they drove my car around the block I paid my large bill I was told that there was a rebate I could apply for and by the way I wouldnt really notice a difference in the performance in my car. That rebate is for products I dont use in my car. To top it all off I walk out to find my car running with the window down. You drove my car around the block the heat was definitely on, so thank you Car X for showing you are just as bad as all the other shops.

I Visited this location for the 3rd time in February for an oil change and transmission fluid change. I returned to this location because I felt like the guys were honest and begin upfront with me about my car. I was called during the day saying that they looked over my car and found everything to be in great order, but that I needed new front brakes and rotors. I told them that I had just had the brakes down at about about 20,000 miles (most of my miles are highway miles) before and that if they were bad I would take a look later on and I declined the service. The car made no noises and the brakes didnt give me any issues the past 5 months. Flash forward to today, today I was rotating the tires for the first time since the February oil change with a buddy of mine who works on his own cars all the time and saw that my brake pads are still practically brand new and the rotors were fine. I am glad I declined this service back in February because I would have been out $400 based on the lie I was told. I lost a lot of respect for this place and will never return. Honesty goes a long way and it is hard to trust people who are going to try and stiff you!

This is my 4th visit to this CarX location. I had previously visited when the manager was Mr. Byron. This time the manager was Matt Dillon. But the experience was just the same as always - A warm friendly welcome and great customer service. I had visited this time without an appointment because I felt something off about the car when steering into turns. I was worried it might be the struts because a friends car had similar problems after the recent winter due to some bad stretches of road. Even though I did not have an appointment and dropped in late afternoon, Matt was very accommodating and said that it might take a little longer, but he would make sure to have it checked before the end of the day. Later in the evening I got a call and apparently there was no obvious problem with the car. The technician Fred mentioned that he drove the car to see if there was any problem, but did not seem like there was anything wrong with the car. I have to mention that they could have easily pushed a sale of a struts replacement or any thing of that sort, but they did not. Also, because the car was fine, they did not charge me anything!

I will always come here to get all my car repairs done. I went to a few different auto shops because my check engine light was on and nobody could tell me what was wrong with the car it was I think this or that, so I came here and got a straight answer and my car fixed and the check engine light is now finally off. Matt was the person that greeted me when I walked into the doer and he was very friendly and even remembered my name throughout this whole experince, he treated me as a person. His team of mechanics is also very friendly and very knowledgeable. I couldnt of asked for a better group of mechanics or management. Even though they were very busy they still took the time to treat you like a person and explain everything to you. Best experience ever with car repairs.

The manager here is one of the most professional (and just flat out nice) people that Ive met when it comes to this kind of job. I needed the thermostat replaced on my car, a repair which isnt easy, and he helped me in every way he could, including helping to find me the most inexpensive option. Plus, the location is easy to spot from the road, and if youre going to be there for a little while, its a short walk from a couple places to eat. This was my first time here, but even though I had to reschedule my appointment, they still helped me out and did their best to work with my schedule, even though I wasnt somebody theyre met before. Highly recommended. I will be back here.
