This place is very unprofessional, staff members look and dress like they are fresh out of prison. Today is the fist and last time will enter is THIS black owned establishment, the cashier was rude, a staff member was sweeping the floor while customers was present, the waiters uniform looks very dirty, not clean or press, the cook who almost snatch the food out of my hand, He also had facial hair without a net. I asked for a veggie Omelets and it took over 30 minutes to cook, that cook who also looked like he was from prison, the cook made my order last, because he said he " had alot of take out orders". Mine you the Lil unprofessional cashier, didnt tell me about the wait, didnt inform me "Sorry for the wait" She have no customers service training. Plus the service is slow as hell. Yeah I heard the food tastes good, but the service sucks. I dont like food that much where the staff takes there slow time to prepare your food. On top of that the music was too loud, theres no host no greeter in the lobby. The cook got mad because i demand my money back, that cook needs customer service Training . OMG finally when my food was ready 30 minutes later.. For an veggie Omelet? One of the staff members said "Sir your food is right here" the ghetto unprofessional, fresh out of jail looking cook said "Na he dont want it, give him his money back" and snatched the food away from the counter.. WTF? I wouldnt refer my enemies to eat here. To the owner of this place, this is one off the reasons why I dont shop black owned. I ordered my food at 10:22a Omelet was ready at 11:12a SMH Ill never comeback the Death Row Kitchen

LOVE! LOVE! LOVE this place. I reside in Philadelphia, and SO wish I had a 5 Loaves Eatery near me often. OK grant it, I may be the sister and in-law of the owners, but that by no means should suggest that I wont keep it real here. Like my family I too am a "Foodie" and well traveled. The service is known to be slow by 10- 15 minutes, but my take on that is the food is made to order "FRESH"! No can or pop top action here. When in town my son LOVES the Shrimp Poor Boy Sandwich, and 5 Loaves Wings (to die for: WATCH-OUT Harolds next door). I LOVE the French Toast, Salads (with their house made dressings), and the Cat Fish Nuggets. Before giving up the "Gospel Bird" I would hurt someone for the Smother Chicken 5 Loaves offers. Again the service may be slow. but as the adage suggest... "Good things come to those who wait". Enjoy!

I live in Los Angeles and was looking to host a memorial brunch for my aunt and found 5 Loaves Eatery online. After reading the reviews and looking at the menus I decided to reach out and inquire about hosting a group of 15-20. Initially there were some communication problems due to a website malfunction but when we finally connected it all came together quite well. The food was absolutely delicious and the staff was on point! I highly recommend this establishment--you wont be disappointed. (If you have a group as large as mine family-style with made to order eggs works best) The owner/chef/boss lady Constance is very personable and accommodating and her lovely daughters work there as well. My entire family will forever cherish our wonderful brunch there and Ill make this a "must stop" whenever in Chicago in the future.

Great restaurant. Food always hot as fresh. I had the salmon croquette with eggs, grits, and a soft homemade biscuit. So delicious. I called ahead to order my food for me and my husband one day. He had ordered eggs, pork sausages with pancakes. Well we picked up our food didnt look to see if we had everything and just went to eat as home. We got home no sausages were in his tray and we live 20 minutes from the restaurant. I called and told the very polite and apologetic lady that got us the sausages delivered right to our door. She didnt even tell us we had to come back. She apologized many times and someone was at our for in 25 minutes with fresh hot sausages. I wish i could give more stars for the care and politeness the staff showed us. I will always choose 5 Loaves for any of my breakfast needs from now on.

I usually have to wait for a table-but thats a sign that the food is good. The food here is GREAT!!!!! I come from a family of excellent cooks and I know good good. I have never been disappointed when eating here. I have never been disappointed. Their servers and waitresses could (and I wish they would) give lessons to workers at other restaurants on the meaning of EXCELLENT customer service. I thought I had to travel to other parts of the city to find food and service like I get here. This place is a diamond, and Im glad its in my neighborhood.

This place is special! Its across the street from one of my old favorite soul food restaurants in Chicago, Army and Lous. The food is great. Its my favorite fried chicken in the city. Im always happy with my meals and the staff is friendly. Their owner is this wonderful woman who does whatever it takes to make it right. What is keeping them from 5 stars is they are slow. Like call ahead and still wait slow. Its been better my last two times. Im hoping this corrected the problem from the past.

Be careful because they will cheat you on your substitutions. I had the salmon croquette breakfast special and substituted my toast for French toast only to find out that the substitution was the same price as buying French toast on the side. I mentioned that to the waiter, but she did nothing to reduce my bill nor did she offer me the toast that I paid for. I felt cheated and undervalued as a customer. I dont care how good your food may be, deceitful practices are a serious matter to me.

I would highly recommend this place as it is a little secret on the South Side and I hope it stays around a long time. Great Food..Good Prices. Im guessing the people that stay in the area really enjoy this place. But Ive visited twice and was disappointed both times. Not sure if Im ordering the wrong item (chicken wings) but its falls below mediocre for me. My chicken was not seasoned(neither time), I asked for it to fired hard (it wasnt), the fries were salty and not evenly cut so I had thin crispy pieces.... The tea however, I did enjoy. Service is slow so be prepared to sit!!

The food here is good. Its very small with limited tables. So if you are in a hurry this is not the place. They offer very good specials daily. The coffee sucks! And since I Love coffee thats not a good thing. The staff is friendly and service is slow. By that I mean 20 minutes to get your food once youve placed your order. Over all the taste of the food is good. I would recomend this place to anyone.
