After I got home from picking up my white cashmere sweater, noticed two dark stains on the front of it (looked like it had been dropped on the ground and rolled over by a cart). I called Platinum but got no answer (called at 7:05) and they close at 7:00 pm. Called the next day and talked to George the owner and was told to bring the sweater back. When I brought it in, I received a lecture on inspecting my items before leaving the store "in case its been dropped on the floor". He said they would try to get the stain out and they did. The sweater was ready 4 days later so I came back to pick it up. Right before I walked in, George came out of the store mumbling profanities and saying something about hitting his car. I thought he wasnt talking to me because I dont have a car. I asked another customer what George was talking about and the guy responded: "dude I think he thinks you hit his car". George walks in and said to me: "Ill just put that on your bill" then finishes with the other customer. I was so dumb-founded that I didnt even say anything; just handed George my receipt. He handed me my sweater and not forgetting the lecture, I started to inspect it. He then snapped: "its clean" and walked away. I didnt even get a chance to tell him that I live a block away and didnt not drive to his store. Turns out, a friend of mine who I was meeting at the location touched Georges bumper while parking his car out front. Im assumimg he thought I arrived in the car. 1. George: thats what happens when you park your station wagon on a busy street in downtown Chicago. 2. Im not responsible for damage (though there was none) to your behemoth; the driver of the other vehicle is. 3. Pay attention to your surroundings before accusing someone, especially a customer whos cashmere sweater you almost ruined. Theres nothing "platinum" about this place.

George is a great guy who runs a great dry cleaning store. Everyone has a bad day once in a while and George is no exception. Id take anyones complaints about his customer service with a grain of salt. Hes always been fair and friendly with me. I have a feeling that a customer who complains about George is the type of customer with whom most business owners would prefer not to deal - yuppie snobs looking for groveling servitude.

I have a dry cleaner in my building, but I will never go back to them after they ruined my one-of-a-kind Christian Dior trench coat. George at Platinum cleaners ALWAYS takes GREAT care of my garments. His disposition, demeanor and spirit will ensure that I am a repeat customer FOR LIFE (or until we move out of the city).

Love this place. Theyve taken care of me since I moved to the area, altered my two wedding dresses perfectly. I moved out of town for three years and when I came back they remembered me by name. Always great customer service and the family who runs the business is lovely.

George is great and he look out for your best interests over his own! They will get you your cloths back to you whenever you ask and their system makes the process quick and painless. Plus, they have low prices to boot. I am offended by the 1 star review below.

Great service. They do great alterations too. One of my husbands shirts was supposed to be a rush order to be picked up the next day, and their cleaner forgot to send it so the owner drove to the plant to get it himself. Very nice.

Ive come in at least seven times with dresses for George to hem. Sometimes with barely two weeks to do the job. Without fail, my dresses fit beautifully after the very first fitting. Hes the best. Really happy I found him.
