NEW MANAGEMENT – SAME PROBLEM!!! 10 yr+ Firestone Lake Zurich customer (no longer) that is completely feed up with this store’s upsell/extortion practices. I am a 57 year old gearhead/electrical engineer that has been working on cars since I was old enough to hand my dad the correct wrenches, with the right “numbers” on them. I bought a “lifetime alignment” for my 2005 Mazda and over the last few years have had to use this “lifetime” Firestone service a few times. During my ownership of the Mazda I have had failures of both front struts (1 with a leak, 1 with a broken top bearing mount) and both CV axles (1 worn and clicking on turns, and 1 with sliced boot/throwing grease). These repairs that I performed required me to take the car in to have the front end “alignment” checked. On several occasions alignment was “checked” and no adjustment was required. During the last replacement of the passenger CV axle (November) I took the car in and asked that they change the oil, and check the alignment. Several hours later they call me and say that they cannot do the alignment (ever so slightly out) because they cannot loosen the tie rod ends because they are “rusted” in place. ???? They said that unless I paid additional “Shop Fees” for them to loosen the rusted parts, or bought all new parts they could not do the alignment. ??? ….I was not happy with their solution, told them so, and said I would “loosen” the tie rods when I got some time off during the December Holiday and bring it back. In December it took me 3 minutes with a propane torch and penetrating oil to loosen both sides. I again dropped the car off again, and asked for an alignment check. A few hours later they call and their story changes: Now one of my tie rod ends, and one of my control arm ball joints needs to be replaced in order for them to perform an alignment. ???? I asked why they did not see these “alignment stopping problems” in November, and was it possible to see what they were talking about. (The car drives like a dream-no clicks/ticks/squeaks/creaks/pops…no noise…NOTHING) The mechanic (very nice guy) showed me an almost indiscernible (few 1000ths of an inch) play in each part as he vigorously shook the wheel while up on the rack with me looking, and using his Maglite. I was taken aback. This tiny amount of play is completely normal for a used car (110K) which obeys the natural laws of physics and material properties. A few 1000ths play in NO WAY indicates a part needing immediate replacement. They have now “entered” in their computer that an alignment CANNOT happen until these parts are replaced. At this juncture I am sure if I choose their "Suggested" $700 repair I can have my car aligned. The sad truth: IF I DO THIS UNNEEDED “REPAIR” I am sure Firestone will continue to point to every suspension part on my car and say they need to replace it if they ever intend to honor my “lifetime alignment” again. DO YOURSELF A HUGE FAVOR AND JUST GO NEXT DOOR FOR YOUR CAR NEEDS!!!

They were very busy when I went in, and the front desk guy was kind and helpful considering... However he gave me an estimate at $130 for two tires, they ended up keeping my car over night, and breaking my rims without replacing them, and still ended up charging me right around $190. I wouldve gone elsewhere right from the start if I knew they were going to jack the price up. They gave my car an inspection, without asking permission, and charged me $50 for that. Then upon finally picking my rimless car up when it was ready, I found that the tire alignment was horribly off. I am hesitant to call back and get them to fix the mistakes they made because I cant afford all of these hidden costs and dont have that much time to go car-less. Therefore I am just going to warn others that they should go elsewhere if they want to save time and money on getting simple fixes for their car.

I am not against Firestone at all and also i dont want to blame all of the employees at Lake zurich Firestone but who ever was doing my Alignment, has no clue how to do one. i have and aftermarket suspension with adjustable camber caster and toe. i used to have a different car with adjustable upper control arms. and it is not that hard to loosen 4 bolts for camber and move them out from the negative field. i had to teach them how to do an alignment. they tried it ones and failed. i explained to them and they failed again. The second time they made it ever worse. I will never go to lake Zurich Firestone ever again. I went to Round Lake Firestone and didnt have to explain my situation at all. They just fixed it and knew exactly what i was talking about.

CHEATERS & THIEVES!! Got a good quote for tires over the phone so I took my vehicle there. The guy tried to tell me one of my rims was cracked. I saw the scam coming from a mile away. I told them off and told the guy to pull my car around I was taking it to another shop. They started to panic big time...HAHA! They said I wouldnt make it down the block with a cracked rim. I had to threaten to come in the garage and take my car if he didnt pull it around, so he finally did. The other shop confirmed there was no crack on any of the rims of course. I went to Yelp to give them a bad review, and long behold, theyve tried to cheat a lot of people! Stay away from this shop!!

I had an appointment at 3 and they didnt even start working on my car until 4:15 so not really sure why they recommended an appointment to me on the phone earlier in the day. Then they told me they could only fix my tire if I bought a brand new one even though my tire was already pretty new. I didnt really have a choice because I could barely drive it there so I had to buy it. 100% they were taking advantage of the fact that Im young because they only started working on my car after I stood up for myself and said something. Would highly recommend going anywhere else. If I could give negative stars I would but Im forced to put 1.

Been a loyal customer for 20+ years. Have seen several management teams come and go. Currently, Emerson and Kevin run the show. At first I was skeptical , but can say, without a doubt, that they are the best team Ive experienced. Both of them are knowledgeable, take the time to explain the repair needed, treat your repair as if they were working on their own car, at a very fair price. I would send my 80 year old Mom in there and feel very comfortable that she would be treat respectfully and fairly. If you are looking for a LONG TERM service center, look no further....

They claimed The tire pressure monitor in the valve stem was broken when I brought it in to have new tires installed which they charged me $225.00 to replace. but if this part breaks the tire will go flat, the tire was not flat when I drive in. 2 months ago the clips that hold the weights on they used to balance the rear passenger side tire broke & the weights fell off and ruined the tire. So now I have to pay another &150.00 replace the tire. I would not recommend any Firestone repair shops freinds & family have had trouble with the shops in johnsburg & lindenhurst.
