Go anywhere BUT here! My family and I were traveling from GA to WI. We wound up having an issue with our transmission. Van went into limp mode and my husband didnt have the proper tools on hand to fix it himself. By the way...he is a mechanic. This is a VERY important fact in this saga. He suspects the problem is the speed control sensor. The box looks trashed. We limp in to AAMCO in Libertyville, IL. The techs hook up the code scanner and the 2nd solenoid is tripping. The van was in limp mode. We expected that. What we didnt expect was to be taken for a ride. Next thing we know one of the techs comes in to the waiting room and tells my husband their manager is on the phone. The manager tells my husband they want to drop the transmission for $699 so they can find what the problem is. My husband tells the manager hes 95% confident the problem is electrical. Not mechanical. Therefore dropping the transmission is not warranted. My husband tells him the fluid smelled fine and had the appropriate color. Didnt look burnt. Then the manager tells us hes running a special and will knock off $250. We tell him NO. Then he tells us they need, at the very least, to drop the pan to check the fluid and they can do it for $150. Once again we tell him NO. Then the manager tells us hes on his way and will be there in 10 minutes. Told us hed drive us to the hotel. My husband asked the techs if we owed them for running the code scanner. They told us no so we got outta there as quickly as we possibly could. We called Gurnee Transmission. They checked the van out and came to the same conclusion my husband did. $170 and a new speed control sensor later, were back on the road. STAY AWAY FROM THIS AAMCO!!!!!

In August of 2012 we had transmission problems with our vehicle. We took it to AAMCO. They called and gave us an estimate on repairs. Then they called and said it was worse than they originally thought and they would have to completely replace the transmission, we told them to do the work. They had our car for 5 weeks, (when after many phone calls to them about when our car would be ready), they finally said we could pick it up. We picked up our car and paid $3,200.00. My husband got one block away from the shop when the car completely shut down. When we called AAMCO to tell them the car had quit on us and we needed towed back to them, they said we would have to get our own tow. We called our insurance company and got towed back. They had our car for another 3 weeks. We spoke with them on several occasions and called the district office. They had no idea what was wrong with the car. We finally picked up the car but had decided that we could not trust the work, so we took it straight down to a dealership and traded it in. We still owed $9,000.00 on the car, we got $5,000.00 as a trade in. We ended up loosing $4,000.00 there, plus the $3,200.00 for the repairs. Every time I see a commercial about AAMCO and how they fix everything, I feel sick to my stomach. If you use AAMCO after seeing this review, you deserve what you get. They make you choose one of their "scores" Poor-Fair was the lowest one. I would not rate them as Poor or Fair, they are horrible.....

I had a transmission rebuilt in August, 2014 on my daughters SUV and was extremely satisfied with the entire process. A rebuilt Aamco transmission comes with a 12 month/12k warranty. My daughter has decided to sell her car to a perspective buyer that took her car to his mechanic for opinion. The buyers mechanic said the transmission had a leak, so I took her car back to Libertyville Aamco to have it checked. Although her transmission was 60 days beyond the original 12 month warranty, William was extremely cooperative when I showed up this morning. He had the car on the lift and within 10 minutes his technician diagnosed a leak from a loose clamp and had it fixed within minutes. He even cleaned all of the fluid that leaked out and topped off the fluid! I was in/out within 15-20 minutes with no charges! WOW!!! Now thats awesome customer service. Based on my initial service work and todays follow up experience with Libertyville Aamco, I would highly recommend taking your car to William! So nice when you dont feel you are being taken advantage of...NICE WORK!

On December 28, 2014, I was referred to what supposed to have been a Good Care Transmission Shop in Mundelein for my BMW 2003 – They rebuilt the transmission and gave me 1 year warranty. On June of 2015, the original problem with the transmission came back. The local store manager denied there was any problem, did not help and kept dragging me on. Finally, I called the corporate office who were very helpful and sent me to their affiliate transmission shop AAMCO in Libertyville IL.. William the store manager at AAMCO is a customer focused, knowledgeable and delivery manager. Assessed the situation, found the problem and communicated promptly with me and the corporate office. Gave me the options and that the problem is a bit bigger than what the initial warranty had covered and gave me his honest recommendation In one week, AAMCO solved the mystery, Problem solved, thank you AAMCO and Specifically William :).

I was visiting Chicago from Canada and my car started having problems. I did a quick google search and found the nearest AAMCO location (it had really good reviews). I must say that I was very pleased with the service I received from the AAMCO team. They took my car in right away and started to conduct their inspection. The mechanic identified the issue immediately (and also showed me things that I should keep an eye on that could wait until later). He did an amazing job resolving the situation at a reasonable price. He didn’t pressure me into making unnecessary repairs or purchasing products. Also, he told me exactly how long it would take and I came back and my car was ready on time. I highly recommend this amazing location to women who don’t know much about car repairs. Manager/staff are honest and do a very good job (which is hard to find these days).

My visit to this AAMCO, was the best thing I could have done for my vehicle. After a series of misdiagnosis and unnecessary spending, i had been told that i needed to replace my entire engine to solve an issue I had that persisted. I was merely calling around getting quotes on labor cost for replacing an engine when I encountered the manager Harry Gonzalez on the phone. He was so polite, genuine and knowledgeable that I immediately felt a sense of calm and hope. He patiently and without alarming me told me the potential issues and his course of action on solving them. Needless to say Harry fixed my issues on my car and I will recommend this AAMCO location to anybody as I know Harry will treat every customer with the same level of politeness and competence. His approach gave me the feeling that he was dedicated to fixing my issues.

We had our cars transmission rebuilt 2 years ago at AAMCO in Libertyville. We have been very happy with the cars performance and now have 210,000 miles and still climbing. Recently my husband passed away, and I am now responsible for the repairs to the car without his help. I noticed the AC was not running well and mentioned it to the dealer where I purchased the car. He told me to buy a new car - really? I went back to Libertyville AAMCO and they repaired the AC. Car still runs like a champ and the AC now works great! Everyone at the Libertyville AAMCO was friendly and helpful and honest. I am very grateful for AAMCOs honest and helpful assistance to me to have the AC repaired. I will continue to go to them for any issues I have and I recommend them to everyone I know.
