When the problem was described to dispatch for a scope and possible routing of an exterior drain pipe I was told that not even a rough quote could be given. The technician was late due to a dispatching error and did not arrive until a half hour after the quoted hour window. Once there the technician was very professional and walked the property with me and gave me a probable run down of the problem, the pipe was displaced by a tree root or tree root had grown into the pipe. And that he would have to use his machine to explore the problem further. At this time I was quoted 49$ for the job I inquired about a military discount and was told no but to look for a coupon online. I agreed to explore the problem at 49$ repeating the quoted price even with the high likelihood that the pipe could not be cleared due to a displacement of the pipe the price was worth exploring the problem. The technician used his machine and as suspected the problem was a displaced pipe and could not be solved without digging up a 4 to 6 foot section of pipe. By this time it was dark and when we sat down to pay the final bill. I assumed that the quoted price was still in effect and an Angie’s List member discount was applied bringing it to 40$ and paid. The next day in the light I looked at the bill and was suppressed to discover that rather than the 40$ I had thought I had paid the price was 409 dollars the original price was not the 49$ quoted but 449$. Upon contacting the office I was told a manager would be in contact with me in an hour. Again almost 30 minutes after the window quoted I was contacted after talking to the supervisor I was told that I was in error and that it was a standard price (However that standard price can’t be quoted even as an estimate apparently before a tech is on site according to the original dispatcher) That despite confirming the original price that I had heard wrong and since 449 and 49 sound very similar, and that there was nothing that could be done. I asked for an itemized invoice and was told that I would have one by Tuesday after the holiday weekend, fair enough. Now I am being charged 409$ for a service that did not solve the problem, that I believed was only going to cost me the quoted 49$ at 409$ I would never have used the service.

My wife threw me 30th surprise birthday party and the toilet clogged from the kids there flushing baby wipes down my toilet in the basement. Luckily I grabbed my plunger and "fixed" the problem. The next day however every time our water ran or the upstairs toilet flushed it was backing up into our downstairs toilet. We however didnt know this till 8 P.M that night because it was our basement toilet and not the main one. I called at least a dozen places and either had no call back or actually had rude operators. I called Roto-Rooter and my worries were over. They sent out Kyle, plumber number 784 and he not only came here and fixed the problem, but he was polite and professional he was interacting with my kids who were obviously curious to what was happening. Another aspect was he was CLEAN! Ive had previous experiences with plumbers and they were rude and didnt care about their work area and the way the left it even more a mess. Kyle had more than one option for me to pick and choose from that he could do to fix my problem and he was incredibly knowledgeable of the what if scenarios if the option I chose didnt work. Ive always heard that when you need plumbing done call the professionals, but that doesnt always mean you interact with people who act with professionalism. Kyle and Roto-Rooter were AMAZING! If ever I have plumbing issues agian Im calling Roto-Rooter and asking for KYLE # 784!!!!! Thank you Roto-Rooter and THANK YOU KYLE! Sincerely A VERY HAPPY CUSTOMER

It had been almost 1 year since I last had to call a technician to come clear my main sewer line due to water backing up in our basement from root blockage. I tried to rod myself but my line was not strong enough to pierce through all the roots. I did however mange to at least pierce through the mesh of roots enough to allow for some water flow again but we could under no circumstance keep using the toilets or multiple water source in the house at the same time. I decided to call Roto-Rooter simply because they were local and had great reviews. Unblocking a sewer line is never cheap and by no means an easy job so regardless of what company you choose to use it will be somewhere around $400. Tim the technician, showed up within an hour of my call and after chatting briefly and informing him of what I did he proceeded to bring the equipment in the basement and start clearing the line. We ran about 100 of line and found an abundance of roots. What i thought was a great value is that included in the $420 bill a video inspection was also included. All in all im giving the service 5 stars because of the promptness the company responded and was able to have a technician on site and for Tims ( the tech ) thoroughness, professionalism and cleanliness he exercised throughout the service call.

While remodeling a bathroom drove a drywall screw into a copper hot water supply line. Water everywhere and dripping into the basement!!! Of course this happened at 6:00 pm on a Saturday so was panicking. Called and left messages with at least 3 other "emergency" plumbers in the Naperville area. Called Roto-Rooter last but should have called them first. None of the other plumbers returned my call as of Sunday at noon... Root-Rooter dispatcher was courteous and helpful; first available was Sunday morning, but she put us into the emergency queue. They called back in about 15 minutes and informed us that Marty would be over in 30-40 minutes. He arrived as promised gave us a fair estimate and completed a tough repair job in about 1 hour. Had to replace copper pipe in a very difficult location in the base plate thru the floor into the basement where space was VERY tight. Marty (Tech #3158) was knowledgeable, courteous and pleasant. Couldnt have asked for a better emergency plumbing repair experience. Thanks Marty and Roto-Rooter!!!

The first tech we had on Saturday told us that his rod was not long enough to reach the clog. He sent a second tech. The second tech told us that his rod was broken and he would use a pressure pump on the kitchen sink. The first time he tried he blew water all over my kitchen. He should have quit there. He tried again and the second time he blew black garbage all over my kitchen. Each time hitting the appliances, dishes, food, floor and ceiling He was going to do it a third time but my son told him to stop. He left and we were left with clean up, which took hours. Today we have a third tech and he is addressing the problem and has been extremely helpful. I have been dealing with Roto Rooter for over 8 years and this is the first time i have been upset. The third tech was amazing and restored my faith in this service. The first two should be assessed for his customer service abilities.
