Have had a nightmarish experience these folks. Went in for a simple oil change and the office manager(Owen) originally wanted to charge me over $100. When I balked at the price, he reduced it to $55 quickly. After the oil change, he recommended 3 procedures which my mechanic(including changing fan belts which were less than 2 months old) concluded were unnecessary. When they tightened the oil plug on the oil change, they stripped the oil pan. This has been confirmed in testimony by three independent mechanics. Trying to get anyone from this place to accept any responsibility for their miscue has been a nightmare, even though one of the Tuffy guys acknowledged responsibility in a phone call with my mechanic. The owner(Sam) has been a whiny deceitful weasel. In three calls, I dont think he has made one true statement(i.e., didnt receive your vm, will call your mechanic, etc.). His strategy has been to lie and delay, and thinks this strategy will avoid responsibility and liability. Stay away, these folks are incompetent, deceitful and dishonest.

I was told by a really good mechanic else where that he had bought my brother in law Blazer, was told some things were done by Tuffy Auto, after looking thru the paper works, he notice that the Tuffy Auto never did the job and Tuffy took advantage of my brother in law hard working money so now as for the oil change, they never did the job right because they never changed the oil filter and the oil ring was rusted so now if anyone want to go to this place Tuffy, forget it. Make sure you check their AAA before going to Tuffy. Even better, let them show you the parts they taken off and show the new parts they have put on geez sound like these mechanic may have no licenses to do these things. They should be closed down for good.

I took my car into 135th st. Tuffy in Plainfield, IL for a broken heater. Two weeks no heat. They took it in as soon as I dropped it off just before closing. When I called the next morning they indicated that they found nothing wrong but were going to leave it out in the cold and test it again. I went to pick it up that afternoon and was astonished with the bill - ZERO. If I went to a Ford dealer and got similar results, I could expect to pay $100-200 for their time. When I got in the car and cranked the temp to 80 it was toasty as can be. This Tuffy outlet has always treated me fairly and recommended the least costly repairs butt this tops all. They have all my non-warranty business for sure.

Please, go somewhere else! The customer service here is terrible. They are rude and you will be very dissapointed if you go here. I made an appointment to get an oil change with a special I received in the mail. The clerk said that instead of $16.95, my oil change would be $69.99 because it uses "special oil". I didnt know 5w30 was special oil, my car does not even require a synthetic blend. When I said that QuickLube has done it in the past for less than $30.00, the clerk said "well you better take it back to them". If you want to get ripped off and be treated like garbage, then by all means, go to Tuffy Auto Service in Plainfield. If you want good service, go somewhere else.

We took our van there to get it checked out under our extended warranty. After completing all of the covered repairs the car we noticed the car not driving the same and had even more problems than before. After taking the car back FOUR times and having them redo most of the work (still not fixing it), we decided to take it to another shop. This other shop informed me that Tuffy had put all the parts in incorrectly and we had to pay another shop to fix it. Calling to complain to Tuffy only resulted in them insultingyelling on the phone and then promptly hanging up on me. Terrible quality, terrible employees, terrible company! NEVER TAKE YOUR CAR TO GET IT REPAIRED HERE!

Gave five stars because the lobby and restroom was clean. I got my front brakes, rotors and struts done as well as an oil change. Its only been a couple of days but everything works fine. Customer service was great and I didnt feel pressured at all for the work they recommended. (Maybe because my car is older and I knew it needed work.) They even helped me prioritize what to get done first since I couldnt afford to get it done all at once. Will definitely be back to get the other work and would recommend them.

Replace my catalytic converter. It went out in less than a year and would not stand behind the warranty. Use caution here. I had the same experience with Sam and Owens as other posts. I got no response from phone calls until I posted my complaint on Tuffys website. I received a response then but only that they would do nothing. Sam can talk a good game, but thats about it. Owens will try to charge you for everything he can think of when he looks at your car and then pretend to give you a discount.

They did and alignment on the Mercedes E63 AMG and did a terrific job, completed it in a timely fashion as well. Pricing was more than half of what Mercedes-Benz of Naperville quoted me. There is a new manager whose # 1 goal is customer service it seems, extremely helpful and courteous.

If you dont know what its like to have a mechanic you can trust, youre about too. My introduction to Tuffys was when they quoted me 1/3 of what Merlins (2 miles North) quoted me. I had been getting screwed for years. Never again. Tim, Jamie and the crew are amazing!

Said they could do exhaust work even after I brought the car and parts in and discussed. Dropped car off and had to call them each day to get a status update. Only to be told they couldnt do the job. Disappointing. Not going to that Tuffy location again.
