Came in yesterday to get two tires on that i ordered the day before. I go in and wait 1hr and half to find out the guy at the shop wants to go home because hes overworked. They ask me if i can come back tomorrow, i say no problem. Now a little backstory is that i have come to this shop maybe over a year ago to check my tire pressure which they do with no charge. Once i asked the guy if i owe him anything he says no but was glaring at my car (the whole time he was complimenting me on it) so i politely tell him sorry but "you driving it is out of the question" to which he responds "well ill be careful" I say "sorry bud" and left it at that and went on my way. Fast forward to today, i came in again after waiting 1hr and half yesterday. Same issue, wait 2 hours just to hear my car start up inside the shop, i go to the front to look, and see my car being pulled out and see the new tires have been put on. Im used to seeing the employee just take the car out of the garage and park it outside. Guess what? Its the same guy from last time that i told "no" to driving my car. He not only did not park it but took it out of the parking lot and onto a back street where i lost view of the car COMPLETELY. He comes back after a minute or so and pulls it in to the parking lot slightly tapping the accelerator. (i saw the car pull a little bit) so he puts it in the shop again for some "test up" he did and then pulls it again out of the shop to park it as it was finished.. I go to the front desk and bring up the issue to Jim who was at the service desk, he tells me how supposedly they need to test the car in the parking lot to make sure the lugs were on tight. I tell him i have never had any tire shop take my car outside of a parking lot and he agrees to the issue. Thing is, there is no Manager AT ALL to handle my situation, he is out on vacation......All i was left to do was call customer service and leave a complaint..... Absolutely terrible waiting time for two tires... I went to Sears a few months back to get my fronts installed and i was in and out within 35 minutes..... All in all i spent over 2 and a half hours for two tires and an employee driving my car without asking me. Jim provided good service but besides that this is a terrible place! And i am waiting on a call. The guys name i believe is Harrell who took my car out without consent! If anything happens to my car they will be responsible!

TOWING: my moms truck went out 2 days ago at 4:30 on a -6 degree morning. (It was now 6:38am after dropping her off at work and getting back to the truck) : called the towing company on their website, Redmons, and was told a tow truck would be coming at 8:02 am. Long wait, we thought, but there was nothing we could do. At 6:50am I received a call that the tow truck was 5 minutes away and confirming the location where her truck was pulled over. Not only did they arrive quick, fast, and in a hurry but this guy was working without hesitation or complaints at 7am in what FELT like -20 degrees with wind! 5 STAR TOWING. SERVICE: the shop was still closed by the time we arrived. we left the truck keys attached to a piece of paper stating what was wrong with it, dropped it in their drop box. It looked as if we were about the 12th vehicle in their lot. I called at about 1:30 pm that same day to see if they had gotten to our truck yet. Spoke to Jim, very nice guy. Was told they had not gotten around to our truck because of it being a crazy busy day (and it was!) they would call me as soon as they knew what was wrong. They didnt get to our truck until the very next day. normally I would be very upset giving them awful reviews BUT I understand why it took so long. 5 STAR FRIENDLINESS, 2 STAR WAIT TIME (please hire more techs! wait times are hurting your store.) PAYMENT: Everything was reasonably priced in terms of services. I was afraid of how much towing would be but the guy who was helping us, REALLY did help us. He helped us save 50% on the towing by letting us know about their program. He didnt have to do that, so thank you. I really wish I got the name of the technician and the man who checked us out at the register, they were great. Thank you! 5 STAR BACKGROUND: My fiancé is an automotive technician however we do not have a garage and the temperature was killer. To say he trusts these guys to do a great job and remain honest with pricing goes a very long way.

I’m writing this review to be a warning to anyone who could be doomed by falling into this same situation. First I want to make clear I don’t blame the employees (some of ‘em are great people) I blame a very bad company. I would not recommend buying any parts at Pep Boys. I have had numerous issues with Prostart batteries. A few examples include the battery dying on me in a hospital parking lot as I walked out in the cold of December wrapped in hospital bandages. You know how tough it is to get a jump in a hospital parking lot? Actually pretty hard! I have been left stranded at gas stations, and just last week late to work because of yet another battery issue! I went to a Pep Boys store to just get my money back for these headaches of a shoddy product, and go elsewhere to get a battery. Just so it is clear a battery should last well over a year and a half! Well low and behold which I should have known because I worked at another Pep Boys previously none of my warranty info for the battery is in the computer! Their warranty tracking system is completely useless it has been for many years, and I bet many of you reading this have had the same problem at least once. A real auto parts store can track that info for many many years. I know I have been in this industry for over 12 years. But since they couldn’t find my info it was either store credit (which what garbage toys do I want to buy at Pep Boys… none!) or another battery that I have to wonder where it is going to leave me stranded at next time! Well all I can say now is I hope someone is around to give me a jump that next time!

I was out the other night and found out while I was driving that I had a headlight out. I still had a long way to drive, it was already dark, and it was about 9 oclock at the time. I stopped at this Pep Boys to get a headlight, and quickly learned that changing one on my wifes car is really tough to begin with, even without it being cold and dark outside like it was. I was basically screwed, I thought. Ticket on the way home FOR SURE. I went in and asked the guy at the desk, Matt, who referred me to the mechanics, for help with installing the headlight. I could tell that they had work to do, and were obviously trying to wrap up their night, but Albert stopped what he was doing and took the time to help me get a new light installed, and even got help from another employee, I think her name was Cynthie, and they spent 45 minutes on my car and took time out of their day to help me even though they had plenty to do, and didnt stop until it was totally finished. And, then they didnt charge me anything, either. They were excellent to me, and I wanted to make sure I named as many of them as I could remember because they all deserve credit for their help! DEFINITELY go to this place. They do great work, and if you have to wait, theyre very entertaining, too! A+ THANKS EVERYONE AT PEP BOYS ON BARRINGTON!
