I went to Tierra twice to get my hair done and unfortunately I cannot say that I will ever go back. I had just moved into town for work and needed to find someone who could do and (take care of) Black, natural hair; specifically 4C hair. I went in my first time and it was $65 with a $10 discount for a simple updo that lasted about a week. On the plus side, I was in and out in 45 minutes. Tierra is very pricey but did a good job and I didnt know anyone else in the area, so I decided to schedule another appointment while I was there. She set up my appointment with her assistant Karen. I should have trusted my gut then because the entire situation didnt feel right having a person whom I never met, recently out of hair school, had no experience at all doing kinky hair, do my hair that I grew out for so long. I trusted Tierras word that she would do a good job since Karen was employed by her, but it went terribly wrong. She dramatically cut (not trimmed) my hair down to its original length from what it was 2 years ago, and my hair was choppy, brittle at the ends, and uneven. Karen passed through my hair several times with the flat iron and I had to remind her 3 times to use heat protectant. She was not conversational, and clearly unexperienced when she started with the blow dryer. Overall, I was pretty much training her how to do my hair. To add on, I was burned several times and only came back up to the shop because I left my coat up there. My husband went and got it, and told Tierra how upset I was and crying at home after paying $95 for someone to ruin my hair. I went back up there and Tierra was very apologetic and she washed everything out, and I let her know that my scalp still stinged from when I was burned so many times. My hair returned back to its normal texture, but I asked her if it would be wise to re-flat iron my hair just to make "things right". Tierra said yes and that everything would be fine, but that wasnt true. I left with my hair laid but with the harsh consequence of heat damage which I found out today. My hair had been straight since; and with deep regret my current curl pattern is now around 3B. I genuinely do think that Tierra can do hair (I cant vouch if its great since I only had her do mine twice including the fix up), but I cant trust her after the traumatic experience she insisted that I would be fine in at her shop. Eventually, I will end up cutting all of my hair off and starting my natural hair journey again. This is a very upsetting time for me since I worked so hard keeping my hair long and healthy. I really hope this helps someone else when deciding on a hairstylist.

FINALLY!! Someone who can do color!!. I moved here from California a little over 2 years ago and it has been a nightmare trying to find someone who could do highlights! I am a medium brunette and have been getting golden blonde highlights for years. This should not be rocket science folks, but apparently in Indy it is. I do a lot of public speaking, so appearance is very important for my job. I tried the most expensive salons (they put in ashe blonde chunks), I tried ones with the great ads (hair came out brassy), and I tried stylists of friends (last time got white white blonde all over the top and left my hair brown on the bottom). FINALLY found Tierra. Everything they say about Tierra is 1000% true. I called her in a panic after my last hair debacle (so white blonde my light brown eyebrows looked black). Tierra called me backed personally and when I told her what a fix I was in for an upcoming appearance and that I looked like Lady Gaga, she got me in the very next day and was able to weave in darker gold highlights to tone down the white blonde and make me look presentable. She is now the ONLY one in Indy that will ever touch my hair again!! She is a miracle worker!! Take it from me. Stop looking and just call Tierra. I wish I had found her when I first moved here. I would have avoided a lot of nightmares!! For the ignorant people stuck in the 1950s if you judge people by the color of their skin you will miss out on a true Gem. Tierra has been doing my hair for 4 yrs now. When I came to her, my hair was thinning with breaking ends. After about a year, she had convinced me to go natural. My hair today is literally midway down my back and more healthy than I can remember since high school. She is respectful of your time, so she is 90% on time and gets her clients in and out with quality, beautiful hair. She is honest about the shape your hair is in and will work with you to get your hair back in healthy shape. She is very knowledgeable of natural hair and how to care for it long term. Now, unlike many other black salons, her shop is gorgeous and always clean. She offers coffee, tea, wine, and water, as well snacks for her clients. She is a little pricier than others, but you get what you paid for. Tierra truly wants all her clients to be happy and satisfied when leaving her salon. On a side note, she is a great listener and definitely gets to know her clients. I look forward to my biweekly Saturday morning appt and it is like shop talk with girls...we love our experience at Envy Salon and highly recommend her! This is coming from someone who has been with her for four years...

Owner/Stylist Tierra is nothing short of AWESOME! I have been coming to Tierra for almost two years now and I have never ever been disappointed! This woman can do it all, cut, style and COLOR.... COLOR....OH MY... she has perfected this craft like no other. Tierra is honest in her dealing and opinion surrounding the "health" of your hair. Tierra has grown and strengthen my damage hair, and cleaned up the "mess" of others. She is dependable, reliable, reasonable, honest, funny, and very a caring person. Now reasonable may mean different to others. I dont mind the price of her services, and I dont mind paying the price. (You get what you pay for). I learned this lesson the hard way prior to finding Tierra. Being a person that is constantly in the industry/space of the HR business world, I have to ensure my hair is always, always on "point". Tierra, provides all that and then some. The salon is clean, elegant, and always smells nice. You will never be disappointed. You may have to pick a number though... this chica is in "high demand". I had my hair highlighted and lowlighted at another salon and was mortified that they turned my hair red. I hurried home and tried at home bleach and made it a crazy tone of red-orange. I was almost in hysterics when I called my Mom and she suggested going to Envy Salon. She has been going for a month now herself and absolutely loves Tierra and said she has seen her do miracles to hair. So I called and was able to get in right away. I was worried Tierra would laugh or be snobby at the crazy hair I had, but I was so surprised at how nice she was! Tierra was very cool and talented. She got out ALL of the red, and made my hair a beautiful blonde with dark blonde highlights. She also gave me suggestions on getting my hair healthy after so much processing. I was very impressed with Tierra and Envy Salon.
