We rented our unit on line. I received a message from the manager at the Johnston location asking me to call and finish the paperwork for an easier move in. I called 7 times during the work hours given by Nicole and never once connected with her. We both left messages for each other. The morning we were to move in I received a message from Nicole asking our move in time. I was unable to get to speak with her on the phone. When we went to the office to move in it was closed. It was 2:30 in the afternoon. I understand that emergencies happen but a phone call would have been appreciated. We had a truck full of stuff to move and help but were unable to get in the unit. They did later send over an employee from a different location who called and helped us finish up our paperwork so we could move our stuff in. When I signed up on line there was no mention of mandatory liability insurance.If I had been given that information I would of had my personal insurance info ready. We have since been able to take care of it. I also opted to have my monthly payment made automatically by checking the box when I signed up for my unit. When I go to the sit I found out I was not set up for auto payment. Not sure whats up with the online site but it needs some work!! The unit was clean and I felt safe at the site and the price was very competitive with others in the area. We are hoping for a better experience going forward.

My husband and I bought a lock for our storage unit and the key broke off inside the lock the first time we tried to use it so we brought it to the office to exchange it. The manager, Nicole, refused to exchange it and told us to call the manufacturer of the lock. She didnt give us the number to the company so I had to look it up. Once on the phone with the manufacturer, they said she was incorrect in not giving a replacement lock so I put the manufacturer on the speaker to talk to Nicole. He told her to go ahead and give us a new lock and he would replace the lock to Storage Mart on their next shipment. She STILL refused and said she would have to ask the general manager. We asked for the GMs phone number and she wouldnt give it out. She wanted us to buy a new lock since we couldnt leave our unit unlocked. My husband asked if we could return the lock when the replacement came from the manufacturer and she said no. Nicole has zero customer service skills and is not friendly in the slightest definition. Never a smile or desire to help solve a problem, I cant believe she is employed as at a front desk of any business. We finally called Storage Marts corporate office who sent a message to the GM who approved giving us a new lock. All this over a $12.75 lock. She couldve replaced it easily and saved the company a bad review.

The management and personel have been extremely knowledgeable, efficient and pleasing with whom to do business! Storage Mart is fortunate to have such quality employees to work with the public and promote their business. It is nice having storage facilities in our community. However, the facilities and premises definitely need immediate maintenance attention: -there is no price consideration or incentives for those who rent more than one unit, for paying on time, or renting for longer than 3 months. -there is no on site garbage disposal for renters use or moving out discard. -I rent climate controled units and the fees charged to clients do not justify the poor building conditions and poor perimeter fencing. Yes, there is some perimeter & building security, but it is quite dated. Todays electronic security applications are economical with ease of installation. If there was an intruder, no authority would be alerted and a visiual ID could not be made. This is my first experience at renting a storage unit, but this nice communitys storage facilities should be the standard that all other facilities immulate! Storage Mart has excellent employees, so now the owner management needs to spend some profit on maintenance and improvements!

Nicole has horrible customer service. She is away from the office way too long and I tried to nake a payment 4 times and she was never in the office. I was late wnd got charged a late fee. It wasnt my fault. The staff doesnt take into account that its not always the customers fault. Someone needs to talk to her and teach her how to do the job. Also, my girlfriend had a unit on Douglas Avenue and complained about spiders being in the unit and she was told that they have nothing to do with that. She would have to take care of it. She decided to switch storage units with a different company. Another issue that needs to be mentioned is the difficulty of reaching someone over the phone. Whenever I call I cannot get someone on the line. Its always saying to leave a message. I was told I can make a payment over the phone but to me that seems to be a lie. Please fix this issue.

From the moment I walked into the office of the Johnston-Merle Hay StorageMart, I knew I was in good hands. Nicole is an excellent manager, and helped me get exactly the right storage for my needs. She helped me set up automatic payments, so I dont have to worry about that. Every time I access my storage unit, the building is clean, as are the property grounds. I know there are StorageMarts all over town, but if you live in the Johnston area (and even if you dont!), I highly recommend this store!

Very helpful staff and easy to register. Great value. The only thing keeping it from being a 5-star rating is the security. The front gate and front units have great surveillance, however the perimeter fencing is lacking/dilapidated and the back 2/3 of the units do not seem to be under the same level of security. I fear it would be all-too-easy to gain access to the premises. Would like to see things repaired and security ramped up a bit.

Staff very friendly and helpful. However the facility especially the area Im in is very old and has a gravel drive.The gravel drive and two raised concrete aprons wouldnt allow for manually rolling in the trailer Id planned to store. Disappointing. Staff offered other options but all more expensive even though same size as what I rented. Unit was clean so I changed what I stored there.

This storage facility is conveniently located about a minute off of Interstate 35/80. The staff is very friendly and all the units I viewed were clean and secure. The climate control unit I chose was adequately priced for the size offered. This works great if your house or apartment doesnt offer quite enough space. As long as I need more storage I will continue to use this facility.

The Staff is Amazing ! They drove me to unit to check it out in golf cart and even offered umbrella for the light sprinkle outside ! Friendly Staff ! They even informed me of the little quirks on hoe to make sure my unit is locked properly and they said they would keep in contact with me if they noticed anything unusual about my unit ! Very clean, safe and secure !
