While there are other places in town where you can get many of the same services, the main post office on Leavenworth is the only place in town where you can send international packages, small businesses have to take their bulk mail there, etc. Because of this, youre sometimes forced to go to this tiny building and stand in line with usually about 20-30 other people and wait 30-45 minutes just to get to the counter. Almost every time I have to go in, the one person at the counter wanders off, leaving no one manning the counter for 5-10 minutes at a time. A few months ago, I saw a disabled man who had been standing at the counter harassed by one of the postal workers because he was leaning on the counter for support while he stood. Some employees who have been there for years still get confused over things they should have done a few hundred times already. Other employees are deliberately slow, they chat up customers or each other instead of working, or they will be extremely rude just because they can. They have taken all the stamp machines and postage machines from the lobby, so you cant even do that anymore. Good luck getting a Priority Mail box you want. I was told that they dont bother keeping most sizes in the building and that you have to order them online (which takes forever). The employee then told me if I had any of the boxes ordered online left over, bring them to her so they could get free boxes! Oh sure, Ill get right on that! When I went to get my passport, I was told by a guy reading a Bass Pro catalog to wait. I assumed I was waiting for the passport guy; turned out he WAS the passport guy, and he had made me wait far beyond my scheduled appointment time just so he could finish looking at some hip waders. Ive lived in Manhattan 22 years and have had either tolerable experiences there or horrible experiences, never good.

i will give this post office and the whole mail system a 0 if it had one... package was paid for to be delivery by today the guy just pulled up and didnt even delivery it and drove off when i went back and check it said delivery but he didnt even come to my door.. there should be no mistake here it wasnt hard to find my house because he pulled up right in front of it and didnt come out of the car.. they need to re check their employees if they want to keep having services from companies but at this point. i will be recommending that all my business friends pull away from them and go ups or FedEx.. this is ridiculous!! dont not provide go services only to companies and not to citizens.. this has happen before i will not continue with them i highly recommend for someone like me that send important document and packages to to people and pay for they to arrive at a certain do not i repeat do not go with them.. ups and FedEx might be expensive but you stuff is GUARANTEED to arrive on that day sometimes even before. the post office do not take pride in accomplishing the need of the people of Manhattan Kansas. with also even in the post office is close they need to have a calling system. the 1-800 number is not enough they can only do little at there end someone need to be in the office to answer the phone to notify the driver that they have made a mistake in delivering the package. with this said take this review seriously because i have giving the post may different chance and this one top it all.this is a message to everyone choose a different services unless you do not care if you items are late or lost.. 0 rating and below for this post office!!!! thank you

The people delivering your mail if they have something that needs to be signed for they dont knock loud enough so you can actually hear them so 99.9% of the time you have to end up going down to the post office to get the item which is absolutely ridiculous considering they usually hear the TV or hear something so they know youre home they just dont care. They never answer the phone. There is always, always a line with maybe 1 person working the counter that seems to always be in a awful mood and annoyed when you ask questions. They dont seem to understand that we the general public dont understand the prices, policies and procedures and that yes we are going to ask questions and sometimes be irritated at the ridiculous cost to send one package. I think it wouldnt be so bad if the staff wasnt so darn rude and pushy. They also need to bring back the stamp vending machine because waiting in line to get stamps is ridiculous especially when theres only one person behind the counter with a line of people 15 deep out the door going into the lobby personal mailbox area. This post office really needs some help.

This post office is understaffed--that makes for a rough work day--, but when I drop by to get rid of a package they are efficient to manage the long lines, and yet they are still thorough. I know what Im doing with media mail, so Im efficient with that and they let me zip through on those packages. When I dont know what Im doing, they ask all the right questions to make sure I get the cheapest option that still has the speed and security I need. As far as postal delivery goes, weve had a mix. It really depends on the worker. The workers that dont last are often the ones that dont pick up outgoing mail and deliver the neighbors mail to our house. (I dont know if the neighbors are getting our mail...Ive never gotten any from them). However, weve had one of the best postal workers ever out of this office. Hes drops off the right mail, picks up outgoing mail, and stops to play fetch with the big dog across the street when it holds a toy out over the tiny fence that it stays within because its a good dog. This postal worker is just an all around good person. Hes friendly, and we adore him.

I had to call weekly to get them to stop mis-delivering mail, despite the sign they put on my mailbox to deliver to the names on the box only. That was just the beginning. The hours they are actually open are not conducive to most people needing to go to the post office. During the lunch hour, they would have only 1 person working, despite that being the busiest time, since that is the only time most people can make it to the post office. I had packages misdelivered to my address and they would not leave the proper papers for me to sign or pick up packages. I once had a package delivered to my box despite the fact that it was the wrong apartment number and wrong street. They would rarely pick up my mail in the outgoing box at my apartment complex. I called the national office on several occasions and they would let me know that the main supervisor at the local office would call me to discuss the issues. They never called.

Absolute joke of an establishment. I called and made an appointment to apply for a passport. I asked them what materials I was required to bring. They simple said a photo copy of my drivers license, nothing else. So, I show up with my copy front and back. Then they add that I needed to have printed off and filled out an application from online. Im okay with that. I drive home, fill one out, and return to the office. They accepted my paper work. Im just sitting down to take my picture when the man tells me that I need my birth certificate to complete the process. However, I was never told this, and mine happens to be in another state. All of this information would have been nice to be informed of on the phone. Before wasting my time driving back and fourth, to finally realize I would need to wait several more days to get what was needed. If you have a Different post office near you I highly suggest going to that one.
