I got an answering service that took a message and got called back by someone who could only tell me it would cost me 44 bucks just to have someone look at it. She wouldnt even give us a ball park, worse case / best case estimate so I had no idea what to expect or compare to other plumbers. She said the technician would have to look to know what it was even after I described it to her in detail. When the technician got here he already had the invoice made out with what it would cost, around $269, before I could utter a word. I repeated exactly what I had told the woman who had called me back to make sure he knew what was going on and he just nodded. He ask me for plastic walmart bags to put on the wheels of his equipment, but didnt put anything on his feet which were still dirty from his last call and rolled the equipment across my entry way and carpet to my basement door and down the steps. While he was working he popped the cap off my "stack" and I am not sure if it broke or isnt reusable or what, but he had to charge me $20 for a new one. While he was "rooting" my sewer, the "rooting apparatus" which was spinning was flinging sewage water all over basement. The sewage backup was isolated to one corner of the basement, but the now most of the basement and even some boxes I had stuff stored down there has sewage water on them. While he was working he had to go out to his truck and he ask me if I had a mat or a towel that he could use to wipe his feet at the bottom of my basement stairs. He still tracked sewage across my carpet and I have a dirty towel to boot. And then a week later we find out he hadnt tightened the "stack cap" tight enough so it is leaking. I called them last night when we found out about it and they gave me such a runaround you would not believe. I ask if it would cost us money for someone to come out and tighten it and the "dispatcher" said she didnt know, shed have to talk to their manager. I ask if I could talk to the manager and she said no. I ask if I called back during business hours if I could talk to the manager, and she said no. She called me back and said that the manager said that someone could come out for free and look at it and if it was their fault they would fix it for free, but she couldnt say it was their fault. The cap that their technician forced me to buy for $20 and that he installed was not tightened appropriately and they think that it might not be their fault? I declined, I dont trust them. After this happened, they tried to call me back 5 times and left a message on my home phone, which I will be using as evidence. So for a total of $290 (20 for the stack cap) I have a bag full of roots that he pulled out of my sewer pipe, a receipt that says this job isnt guaranteed because it wasnt jetted which will cost $500 more on top of this, a basement with a combination of my sewage and I dont know how many other of his previous customers sewage spewed all over my basement, a sewage stack with a loose cap, and a night of being harassed by a business that I have called on doing a substandard over priced job. For 290 bucks youd at least think they could finish the job and tighten a cap so sewage isnt leaking into my basement. I actually hold them responsible for the sewage leaking into my basement right now and probably need to talk to a lawyer. I want my money back just so I can clean my carpet and my basement, and get someone who does a good job to come and tighten my cap. Dont use this company!!!

Were new homeowners. Young and inexperienced we tried everything we could find on google to help us out. We dont have a ton of money, so a plumber was our last resort. My husband called roto rooter at 7:30pm. Kevin showed up at 8:00pm. It was poring down rain, but he got right to work... I was AMAZED at how prompt he was! We had a clog in our main, I thought just the sound of that said "cha-Ching" to me... Nope! Kevin was AMAZING! not only was he timely in every aspect, he educated us on the issue, and he didnt charge us an arm and a leg either!!! Roto rooter will be our primary contact whenever we need help! I couldnt feel better about the relationship we now have with Roto-Rooter Update: We didnt get Kevin last night when we called. We had a guy come out and give us an "estimate" without even looking to see what the problem was. So he tells us $228 and hell clear the line to the main and camera the line so we can see what the issue is and may be able to give us the guarantee again. He comes back in and tells my husband theres nothing he can do. Hands me an invoice and needs payment. He then says, while hes waiting on my signature, the line was clear, theres just a belly that the water pressure isnt able to push the waste up over. So he didnt clear the line like he told us, and stated that what he did (which was nothing) could help for 2 mo or so or could not help at all. So my husband flushed the toilet before he even left, and he did NOTHING to help our situation. Still backing up in the shower. He didnt have a problem taking our money though! I loved Roto Rooter before this issue. This is my third time using them in less than a year. I was given a quote to replace our line to the main, and had no intentions of shopping else where, but what happened yesterday, really turned my stomach knowing they dont care about the customer. They only care about the money. So here we sit on a Sunday, Mothers Day, $200+ in the hole, and no way to use our plumbing with 2 small children.

Im very happy that Kevin came to change the faucets in the kitchen and bathroom, as well as the flapper and fill valve for the toilet. He was quick, efficient, friendly and explained the cost before beginning the work. And he cleaned the areas when finished. Two months later I had blockage that caused sewage to go into the bathtub. Kevin was able to find the blockage and correct it. He checked the drainage of my kitchen sink and could tell that I really didnt want to do more repairs at the time, so we determined it would probably be alright for awhile. But late that night the kitchen sink would not drain, so he returned the next day. Im very thankful that the company included the service call as one ticket for the two consecutive days, which saved me a lot. Im thankful that I had the money to get all of the work done this summer. And Im thankful that someone as courteous and efficient as Kevin was able to complete everything that needed to be done. Ill always call Roto-Rooter for my plumbing needs, and I hope I always get Kevin as my plumber.
