THEY WILL RIP YOU OFF ONE WAY OR OTHER. Went to get my A/C fixed after charging $500 for diagnostics and recharging the system with dye I was told that A/C is not fixed. After 2 weeks of daily diagnostics I was told on phone that they have found the problem, and they need to order a part it will cost another $1200. I was told they will order the part from supplier and get it done the next day. Being desperate I agreed and they charged my credit card on phone in advance. They laid a trap for me, ordered the part from snail mail over the internet for 1/3rd the price of $1200. After waiting for another 2 weeks for the part to arrive I got frustrated and wanted to cancel the job. But they did not agree for the refund. More than 2 weeks later the part arrived, it was installed and bang.. it still doesnt work. I forced them to refund the $1200 and went to an honest and knowledgeable auto-shop. I ended up wasting 4 weeks, $500 and a lot of headache. Couple of months before this while I was getting oil change I was told to get brakes resurfaced, brake oil change and a list of things. I was very surprised, and told them to show it to me. I was taken inside the auto-shop and shown superficially I looked in my dash board and took out a job-order receipt done with the exact list of things done 3 months back from the same shop, the mechanic was red faced. I did not think much of it but after going through horrendous experience getting my a/c fixed I realized what this Midas Bethesda is all about.

I recently visited for what I thought would a simple and quick tire repair as my low-pressure tire indicator light had turned on. In order to perform an inspection and repair they needed my car for most of the day. I received a call in the afternoon that the tire would need replaced and when I picked up my car the same evening, they said everything was good to go… Literally the next morning after the repair, and after spending nearly $200 on a new tire and (in my opinion overpriced) labor, the low-pressure indicator light turned again! I was able to quickly determine that the same tire was somehow leaking again! I took it back, suspecting that there had to be something wrong with the installation. I was NOT shocked at all when they realized that a sensor seal was not installed properly. What I don’t understand is how they could let a customer leave there the day before without adequately checking these things and I can not imagine this is the first time that they have installed a tire on this car model and make. This was a complete waste of time. I would say the only positive is that the front desk serviceman, Steve, has a great attitude and is very kind. Overall though, I will definitely not be coming back here. I need a tire shop that is competent at repairing and installing tires.

After they incorrectly installed the brakes the first time - I could tell because of the woosh/thud I would hear anytime I braked - I took it back to them. They fixed it, but the damage was done. Comparing the way my brakes sound and felt before and after Midas put their hands on it, I feel cheated and ripped off. I dont mind paying for parts and service, so long as I receive the products and service! I sold the car to my in-laws, who only 3 months after the work was done, had to take it to their mechanic for further work. I wish I had the capability to examine their work, but I live in an apartment, and dont have a mechanical lift. I had spent close to $3k at a mechanic in California, who provided me with a detailed report of the problems that needed fixing. They did the work and the car ran great! Then I took it to Midas and it was never the same. Its not the money I have an issue with, its the terrible service they provide One last thing. They asked me to fill out a customer satisfaction survey, with questions like, "How did you rate the service performed on your vehicle?" Before they gave me my car back! I asked them how was I supposed to judge their performance when they still had my car? The sales clerk just insisted that I fill out the survey. I declined to comment.

Ive been going to the Midas shop in Bethesda for several years now. Theyve worked on every car Ive owned - from Hyundai to HUMMER (even my ex-wifes Volvo and Saab) - since I found their shop on Cheltenham. Never once have I had a bad experience as mentioned in some other reviews. The staff seems experienced and knowledgeable and their customer service is A+ in my opinion. More than once Ive gotten a call from them the day after a repair just to check in to see how everything was and that I was satisfied with the work. Ive even received a random call or two out of the blue just to thank me for my frequent business. Ive never experienced that level of service, follow-up, and appreciation from any other shop or dealership. I would encourage anyone to use this location for their auto repair and maintenance (and do quite frequently); especially if you live or work in downtown Bethesda. I just drop my car off in the morning, walk to the office, and pick it up at the end of the day. Speaking from my own personal experience, theyve never missed a beat...my vehicle is always ready to go as soon as I show up and the bill is always spot on with the estimate or lower.

Go Elsewhere! They dropped my car from a hydraulic lift, lied about it, took the car without authorization to a third party shop, and refused to disclose the location. I finally found the car in pieces. They finally contacted their insurance company, who totaled the car. Steve Hackett, the owner, perpetrated these lies, which can be confirmed by the Montgomery County Office of Consumer Protection, the Maryland Secretary of States office and the BBB. One of the managers, a man named Matthew (last name not provided, though he told me his name was "John Smith"), threatened to lie about the events should I bring suit or further complaint, effectively perjuring himself to cover for his boss and colleagues. I urge anyone considering using Midas to seek alternatives, or at the very least, to inquire with county and state authorities about myriad complaints received. Moreover this is a franchise operation and Midas corporate will be of no help. An interesting post script - the work they did to the car was done improperly, and only after they damaged it and attempted to cover it up. This was verified by an independent adjuster.

I brought my vehicle here to get a routine oil change. Of course, after their "courtesy full car inspection", they found a laundry list of problems. They said I needed new rear brake work and some other "critical" service. I agreed to let them replace breaks because I was told that it would take only 1 1/2 hours. They took over 5 hours total. They gave me a ridiculous excuse and failed to even properly service my car. To their credit, they reduced money off of the total but I still paid about $500. Within 4 days, I began to hear screetching sound from rear brakes. Ive began to experience additional problems since this "service". Although the brakes are under warranty, I WILL NOT return my vehicle and risking further damage. Also, in an attempt to balance my tires, they broke my screw head on each of my four rims. AND they told me to go pay the dealer for replacements as if they did not break the screws! Maybe others have had better experiences, but I would recommend spending a little extra money (or even less since Midas is absurdly overpriced) and go to the dealership. Never again!
