These other reviews obviously are from people that work at Cheseldine. This place is a rip-off. I admit they are friendly, but they are not your "go-to" mechanic. I used Cheseldine years ago because I was new to the area. I honestly cant remember what my issue was with my vehicle, but I do remember the feeling of paying to much, getting things fixed that were not originally broken, and paying $500 to replace an entire part instead of just the small $30 part plus labor. Here I am years later, in a rush I dropped off my car. Already having it diagnosed 4 days previously when I was on a road trip and traveling out of town. Already knowing what was wrong with the vehicle, I drop the keys and provide information in their night drop box. Immediately the next morning I get a completely different diagnosis and new error codes!! I have a personal OBD reader (and not a cheap one) and I had been checking and researching my codes for 8 days prior to dropping of the vehicle. Its a funny how they were able to find 2 MAJOR codes that were not there before!! Also, they say I need a new transmission when 2 other mechanics, auto zone, advance auto parts, and 8 days worth of research shows I just need to replace my TCC solenoid . So a $31.99 part tuned into a $1500 part. Funny how that works! My advice, dont risk it go to a mechanic that values if the customer comes back and not the profit they get for one visit!

Took my new (to me) 2000 jeep wrangler in for a MD state inspection yesterday. I was told that everything passed and I was good to go. Not a bad price for the inspection so I signed and was out the door. This morning I was driving to work and noticed that my soft top was flapping significantly as I drove down route 235. When I get to work I find that the entire top was placed on incorrectly. There are 3 holes in the soft top now (which was brand new). It took me 25 minutes to remove and then correctly place my soft top back on. When I called to complain about the top, the manager told me that he spoke with the mechanic who performed the inspection and he stated that he did not remove the top. The manager stated that he believed his mechanic, which I took as him claiming I cant see that the top was completely disassembled and reassembled incorrectly. I am very disappointed in this service and was a repeat customer in the past. Not now...will be going to Tom Hodges the next time I need work done on my vehicles. They have much better reviews online.

My first time typing a review. But I needed to express my excellent experience at Cheseldine Auto. I recently visited Cheseldine (August 2014) with my engine light displayed & a pulsating brake problem (new pads & rotors all around). Previously I took my 04 Volkswagen Touareg (I love the vehicle but extremely expensive to repair) to the Volkswagen dealer for the engine light & was diagnosed with replacing the catalytic converter. I didnt trust this particular dealer prior to arriving but I said, lets see what they are going to say. Cheseldine diagnose the engine light as running too lean. Total price from Cheseldine was $1000. Volkswagen dealer wanted $2800 for the catalytic converter, not including the brake work. I will not say where this Volkswagen dealership is located but I will bring notice to what I have considered EXCELLENT service, This wasnt my first visit to Cheseldine, every visit has been the same. Again, THANK YOU CHESELDINE AUTO!!!!

The ABSOLUTE BEST place around for auto repairs. I wont go anywhere else. Gary and his team have always taken good care of my family, and my latest experience is the best example yet. My truck started acting up Monday afternoon on the way home. I stopped by Cheseldine, dropped it off and described what was wrong. They were busy, but they checked it out and called me with a diagnosis within an hour telling me they found the problem, told me how much it would cost and that they could have it fixed by 10:30a the next day. Tuesday morning they called me at 9:30a to tell me my truck was fixed and ready for pickup and the price was exactly what they said it would be. I could not even imagine a better experience!

Weve taken our vehicle in for servicing to Cheseldine Tire and Auto and have always had great service. We dont feel like they push us to buy more than we need. Once I dropped my car off from a flat tire expecting when i returned that i would have to replace that tire and the tire opposite it. I was very happy to find they had fixed my tire and all at NO CHARGE. When I asked why that was ... they said we have Free flat repair for life when you buy the tires here. Now, I knew that when i bought the tires ... but i never expected it to be real. At Cheseldine they really have FREE FLAT REPAIR FOR LIFE!

Took in some rims and tires to be mounted. Asked that extra care be taken not to scratch or chip the rims during the process and I was told that they would try there best. When I asked further, they said that they couldnt make any guarantees my rims would not be damaged in the process. I said OK no guarantees, but if you did damage them would you be responsible and pay for it to get fixed? The answer was no. What company wont fix any damage they cause? I took it to a competitor and they said of course they would repair any damage they may cause? First and last time I will go here.

This place is a rip off. Took my car for a state inspection in Nov. There was only one item that did not pass, so i had 30 days to get it fixed. It took me 31 days to get it fixed, so i had to pay again for a new inspection. But when i took the car back they pointed things Out that were not there on the first inspection. They said that the first inspector overlooked the new problems last time. Do not do inspection at this place. Everytime is something new.

This family owned business knows how to take care of customers. The staff are friendly and well trained. They are also familiar with the auto market and offer some fairly competitive rates. Incidentally, I brought in the wrong tires, and with limited time these guys were able to work their magic to find and install a quality set of tires on my car in remarkable time. -Bobby

Cheseldine auto repair is by far the best place to take your car or truck for repairs or PM. Gary and his staff could not be nicer, more accommodating, or more expert at both maintenance and customer support. They always have you work done fast and efficiently and are reasonably priced. You NEVER worry about overcharges or unnecessary work with Gary. Absolutely the best!

Never ever use this place!!! I took my car over to have my rims switched my new ones (using the same tires) and not only did it take 3 plus hours but apparently they ruined my tire pressure sensors and the manufacturer said they had never heard of the reason why the sensors were ruined (by Cheseldine tire and auto)!
