I have been to Hillmuth Gaithersburg a couple of times. I went there on August 1, 2014 to have my new tires mounted on my new wheels. The tires are Nitto 255/35/20 and 285/30/20. The wheels are brand new HRE FF01 in 20x9.5 and 20x10.5. These are for my two month old 2014 Mustang GT. I asked their front desk person if they can do a 20 inch wheel mounting/balancing. He said yes. I told the front desk person to be careful with my wheels twice. I told the the technician to be careful with my wheels. These wheels are $700/piece. They scratched one of my wheels at the edge and at two other places in the lug hole area. The front desk person(Mike) told me he has to talk to Bill Hillmuth(I guess the owner) on how to proceed with this issue. I was offered to have the wheel repaired at their cost but refused it. It is a brand new wheel, not a 6 month old wheel. Mike told me that he will be calling me later in the morning. I just spoke to Mike at 2:10 PM and he said that he will replaced my scratched wheel. About 6 years ago, they also damaged one of my BBS wheels for my BMW. I found it when I got home so I didnt complain about this. I will update this review depending on how it pans out. For now, I will give them the lowest rating possible. This day is supposed to be a happy day for me as I just got a new set of aftermarket wheels for my 2 month old car.

I hit a big pothole really hard after the snowplows tore up the road near my house. It destroyed one of the new tires that Id ordered from Tire Rack and had installed through Hillmuth only a couple of months earlier. So I called Hillmuth the next morning and within just a couple of hours they got a new tire in the door and were ready for me to bring my car in. In less than an hour, it was installed and they did an alignment on it. (I asked for the alignment because I hit that pothole HARD.) Since I had road hazard insurance through Tire Rack, and Hillmuth had already called the road hazard insurance company and taken care of everything, there was no charge for the tire, only for installation and alignment. I was extremely happy that Hillmuth had called the tire insurance company, and made everything as easy as possible for me. I really appreciate that high level of service. THANKS!!!

They were wonderful here. I woke up on a Saturday, went to run some errands and discovered I had a flat. My husband was laid up in bed, so I was doing most everything by myself but they helped me over the phone, I even called them to ask a question about putting a spare on the car and they helped me out. Even though they dont have many tire trucks coming through on a Sat, they found someone who could drop off tires and they replaced mine, aligned them, changed my oil and belt and it was all very smooth. Sami really helped me out, which was awesome as I was really stressed. He was very polite and I never felt like he talked over me assuming I didnt know anything since Im a girl. He had all that work on the car done, even with only his weekend staff and had me back on the road in a few hours. My car now drives so smoothly whereas before it was pretty obvious it needed some work. Thanks guys!

I have serviced all my cars with Hillmuth Automotive Gaithersburg for almost 20 years. Seven cars so far. They are courteous, professional, personable, but most importantly they are honest and they do quality work. They tell me when service on my cars is necessary but they also tell me when its not. They explain to me everything they are doing to my cars in as much detail as I need. You may find certain services slightly cheaper elsewhere but those auto shops will get your money by performing unnecessary services to make up for it. With Hillmuth I know Im getting value for my services and saving money overall. Nothing is more important to Hillmuth than their customers. Its obvious. Oh, and you wont meet nicer guys than Billy and Sammy at any auto shop around. 5 stars doesnt do them justice. I give them 10!

Hillmuth Automotive is an outstanding business! The service advisers: Sami and Mike are both outstanding and incredibly knowledgeable and very professional. The technicians on staff are also very competent and they do great work. I have no complaints whatsoever in all of the experiences and work that I have had done at Hillmuth. Hillmuth has the ability to do almost any type of work that your vehicle may need and they do it efficiently. I am always impressed with the quality of the work and the level of service I receive. I recommend Hillmuth to anyone who is seeking quality work for their vehicle. This family owned business goes above and beyond to assist its customers, they truly go, the second mile in addition to the extra mile!

Anyone who says this place is a good value does no research whatsoever. Their prices on parts are disgusting. My fiancé just replaced her rear hub bearing, only one of them, and they charged her $320 in parts alone. You can buy a kit with 2 for $300 online no questions asked. Same with the price for her timing belt, over $100 over the normal price. Whats worse is she has been going to them for years, they know her, and they pretend they are taking care of her. They know shes saving for a wedding, and they pretend to be there to help, but it is a total lie. And, when she asked for a lower price, they made her feel bad about "haggling". If only I could be there, this wouldnt happen, but beware of them.

Today I noticed my tire indication light was illuminated. I called Hillmuth (Ive been taking my cars there since the 80s) and they said come in when you can; I drove directly there. They took my car back immediately and checked all the tires; the right rear tire had a screw in it and there was a slow leak. While I was there they checked my service record and as it turned-out I was due for an oil change. The mechanic was Dave T. I was in/out of there within 2 hours. Thank you John and Sammy; you guys were great to work with and ensured my car was repaired satisfactorily, Great Job!!! Thank you very much. V/r Neal Z.

The folks at Hillmuth are the best! The place is always clean and the staff is very courteous. I like the fact that they do pickups and drop off up to a certain distance and its very much appreciated. They are in the business of being viable understandably but they also let you know of services that will save you $$$ in the long run. One thing that makes me wary of auto repair is lack of truthfulness but Hillmuth = truth. They tell you the truth upfront and dont dump unnecessary services on you. They go above and beyond to help and theyre consistent. I highly recommend them and youll never regret it.
