$59 "travel fee" - I disagree with this on principle, but unfortunately appears to be an industry standard. I had an electrician come look at a three-way light switch that had stopped working correctly and after 1.5 hours he had to admit he couldnt find a solution. Disappointing when the pro cant fix your problem but I appreciated how long he spent trying to, and the fact that he didnt charge me for the repair, or time lost in this case.

Maurice has done electrical work on my home twice recently. He was personable and knowledgeable. The second visit was challenging, with a 1940s fixture that I wanted installed to replace an existing fixture. He made several phone calls to locate a part that would work, and then had to be creative to ensure that it was stable once installed. Many thanks!

Hawkins Electric has helped me out twice now. They were very familiar with the issues of wiring in my older DC home; they hard wired my smoke alarms and put in an outdoor outlet.
