I would probably rate them - 5 stars. Freds a joke. I took my car down in Oct 12 to tune the Haltech and troubleshoot some stalling issues. It was in the shop for 7 months. Fred replaced a brand new battery, Haltech ignition, distributor, installed a tach adapter, idle air control motor and an outboard MAP sensor, all of this without letting me know I just had the engine rebuilt down in VA, Nov 11 and spent about $10 K into it so everything was brand new (including the battery and the Haltech ignition he replaced). None of what he did was necessary nor did it solve the stalling issues. I went to pick up the car last May 13, there was an electrical short and smoke coming from the MAP sensor and after starting once, the second time it wouldnt even start. The engine compartment looked like a tangled mess, the MAP sensor was just stuck on with some Velcro and was falling off! This was the WORST mechanical experience in my 30+ years of owning cars. He basically totaled my brand new engine and Paul, his BS partner told me, Fred had blown the engine from over revving on the Dyno resulting in bottom end bearing damage and damage to a brand new Fidanza fly wheel. After screwing up my engine and wanting to charge me $8,600, I told him what he could do with the car. Its now for sale at his shop so I hope potential buyers see this and wise up. STAY AWAY from Fred and Mt. Airy Motors!!!

Had been a customer for years. Personnel seems to be on a revolving door. Took car in on March 23, 2017 for brake issues (low pedal pressure). Picked car up on March 24, 2017, and experienced same problem on way home. Added brake fluid to the reservoir, as had been doing for a few months. Had problem at same interval as before. Took car back in, and basically was told that I was lying, because "everything was good on that car, when it left the shop". At $500+ for the first repair, which was $200 more than initially quoted, I hesitated and squirmed when told what the next repair would cost over $200 more, but then eventually agreed. They then refused to repair the car, because, I "questioned their integrity". Interesting comment for someone who basically said I was lying. Very strange exchange...no one raised their voice, used any bad language or accused anyone of anything. I just wanted brakes that worked. I paid $500+ for parts and labor that didnt take care of my problem.

Mt. Airy Motors was incredible. I recently brought in my car because it was overheating. I thought it just needed a new radiator. I picked up my car on Thursday. On Friday evening the car overheated again and I realized that there was a bigger problem then I had previously thought. I was out for the evening and told them that I couldnt get the car to the shop until Saturday. Unfortunately they are closed Saturday. However the manager realized the difficult situation I was in and AGREED TO COME IN ON HIS DAY OFF TO HELP! I have been to other auto repair places who seem unwilling to help during store hours. Definitely not at Mt. Airy Motors. Mt. Airy Motors went above and beyond the call of duty. I am a very satisfied customer!

I needed to get my Toyota Camry 2008 inspected for a pending sale next week. I wanted to get my car inspected by a auto service business that was very honest, had a sense of urgency, an excellent customer service history and an established business in our local community. After much research, I found exactly what I was looking for in Mt Airy Motors. The manager Jeff and team were fantastic and extremely through and didnt pad the bill, that we here about and/or experienced with other providers. I highly recommend Mt Airy Motors for all your automotive services you may need. Additionally, when we went to pick up my car my wifes RAV 4 broke down and I had to have her vehicle towed there and it was repaired the next day.

I brought my car to Mt. Airy Motors after my friend told me they always take care of her.....it seemed like something serious to me, not that I know anything about cars but it was running really rough and I was scared of not being able to afford whatever the repairs might me. Jeff made me feel much better right off the bat about the issue, and made me VERY happy when he got back to me later to tell me that it was just something minor and was repaired, including the check out charge, go under $300! So I ended up also taking care of some fluid maintenance that my car was overdue for. Im so glad my friend referred me here, and that I know I have an honest place I can take my car to from now on!!!! Thank you guys!!

I cant say enough good about Mt. Airy Motors. They are truly the oldest shop in Mt. Airy, and that longevity speaks directly to their commitment to quality. You dont have to take my word for it... they warranty their work for 2 years / 24,000 miles. Its not a fancy shop, but theyve got good diagnostic equipment and excellent mechanics. I think they even work with Enterprise if you need a car while yours is there. I want a home-town shop with a home-town feel and I wouldnt go anywhere else. My mechanic is Mt. Airy Motors.

Ive brought my vehicle here multiple times for various repairs and have been very satisfied every time. The level of personal service Ive received is excellent. Jeff and the entire staff are responsive to your needs, they listen and they know their stuff. The prices have been better than any competitor Ive found and I would recommend them to anyone in need of fair, honest auto repair.

I took my 1967 Cutlass Oldmobile to this shop to have bigger cam and aluminum heads put on my car. They had my car for over 3 months and I was not satisfied with the work. I was very disappointed in their performance work. This is not a good performance shop. I had to take my car back 3 times.

They do good work and they do it quick. Never without my car for more then a day. Only gripe is that they do not focus on certain repairs, more advanced repairs, they tend to recommend you to a dealer shop. Honestly I guess that is to be expected and probably a good idea anyways.
