I had this company install a new A/C, furnace, and water heater in 2015. The issue was to replace an oil furnace, 30 year old A/C and balance the 1st and 2nd floors. The salesman told me via email that the 1st and 2nd floors would be within 1 or 2 degrees. This has not been the case for either heating or cooling. A subsequent call complaining about a lack of hot water in the winter went unanswered because they refused to come out for what they believed was an issue with the faucet. We never had the problem before and it only occurs in the winter, so it sounds to me like an issue with the temperature difference of cold water coming into the house an underperforming water heater. Putting that issue aside, I called back this summer indicating the imbalance between the two floors was a serious issue as well as a non functioning humidifier they installed. A service technician came out and noted that they had installed the humidifier wrong, but that there was also a clog in the water line they installed. He would not fix the water line for free even though it hadnt been that long since they installed it. He also refused to give us a quote for ductwork to correct the issue. He claimed that they do not do ductwork and that my ducts were severely undersized for the unit that they put in. His response was essentially: we will not help you unless you want to buy another supplemental unit from us for the upstairs. This is just not acceptable. Do not do business with people that are only interested in making a sale and not doing the job right. If a job needs some ductwork, then the company should give you this information up front and not install a system they know will not work. I have no recourse against them at this point, but I am severely disappointed. They get 2 stars because the staff was friendly for the most part and the price was reasonable for the work they did although they failed to deliver on their promises.

Had a tech come over to replace a blower and a flame sensor on my gas furnace just after the huge 30inch snow storm. Made up a price in the air and charged me $1200 for the parts and labor before calling to see how much parts would cost. Looked up the parts online and max they could have paid for all of them was $350. I would not recommend using these guys. Unfortunately, I could not get anyone else to come out and fix it because they were snowed in and ordering the parts online would have taken too long. It is suprising they have been in business this long. The tech took about 20 minutes tops to fix the problem. I would be hesitant to believe the other more recent reviews posted here as they are probably posted by employees/friends of Farnen & Dermer. You can see that they are all very recent after my negative review. The language is consistent and the posts are consistently spaced and rated 5 stars. I talked to a new friend of mine who does HVAC and described the problem. Turns out I could have fixed the whole problem for a $18 resistor. F&D replaced the whole blower for an arm and a leg. I could have almost bought a new system for what they charged me.

The team was amazing! They were quick to answer our questions, get us a quote, schedule an appointment and set up the unit. On a Wednesday night our ac blew up when we had 5 guests staying at our house. This was also the night before the first hottest day of the summer with an impending BGE Peak rewards AC shut off scheduled. The next morning we called and requested a quote and availability. The team was able to confirm our quote and parts order and had us scheduled for the very next day! The team was on time, polite, knowledgeable, friendly and respectful of our home! We couldnt have asked for a better experience! Rick and his team were amazing and we fully recommend them! Great jobs guys!

Full marks to Farnen and Derner. I presented them with a problem - an aircon had been giving trouble over a period of 2 months and the tenant of my condo was becoming more and more anxious because of the lack of success of attempted repairs to the aging unit. Finally out of sheer frustration with these past attempts, I decided to replace the unit. Farnen and Derner were contacted, came the next day, and submitted a quote for the replacement. They successfully matched the lower quote of another provider and offered me even more benefits! The installation was successfully completed the following day. I have a happy tenant and peace of mind. Great service! I wholeheartedly recommend them!

We have been a customer of Farnen & Dermer for over 20 years and have always been very satisfied with the quality of the equipment they use (Trane for our house) and service. Last month, our upstairs zone HVAC system gave out after 24 years. The men from F and D were there within 24 hours and had our new AC system (inside and outside units) installed and running within 24 hours and the entire system replaced within 72 hours of calling. This included some work within the walls of our house to lay down new gas pipes. The guys were real pros - courtesy, on time, clean, and knowledgable and did a great job. Their pricing was fair. Would highly recommend.

Our A/C unit was freezing up, so we called Farnen & Dermer after receiving an $89 "tune your system" flyer in the mail. The guy came out while my 85 yr old father was home. Told him that the entire unit needed to be replaced. Noted on the invoice that the unit needed Freon. Didnt "tune" anything or put Freon in, in fact called my husband and asked him if he wanted him to put the cover back on. Told my husband $8,500. The invoice says $7,600. Furious. A complete scam. BTW, a handyman came out, filled up the Freon, and the unit, though old is working just fine. Do not waste your time with this company unless you want a new, very expensive unit.

My A/C stopped working on a Saturday. I spoke to Ed who was away that day, and he had someone to my house immediately. To my dismay, I needed a brand new unit. The old one had ten years on it. I was given many options to choose from, as well as some recommendations. I went with Eds recommendation and he had someone to the house first thing Monday morning. Yossi and James showed up on time, and ready to get to work. They took the time to explain to me what they were doing and why. They worked all day and did a fantastic job. I would recommend this company to anyone! Very professional and nice to work with.

Farnen and Dermers representative, Glenn, came to our house and was very thorough in his diagnosis of our heating problem. He spent the time to explain what he was seeing and to answer all my questions. He came back two days later and helped with the installation of our new furnace and AC unit. Glen was a pleasure to work with as was everyone we came in contact with from Farnen and Dermer. We could not be happier with our purchase or the installation. All in all a great experience! I highly recommend this company for all your heating and cooling needs.
