This review is long overdue as well, but I feel it is my Christian duty to warn you about shifty mechanics. My mom has been going here for years and still does because if youre nice to her she doesnt question the price. And I thought since she has been going here for 20 years, when I finally got my car, they would be fair in price and speedy in service. Nope. Theyve never been fair in price and their service is very lacking. My first account was my first car that needed a catalytic converter. One of the most expensive pieces of a car Ive been told, but not 2 grand expensive Ive been told by numerous other mechanics and car friends. My mom paid it and life moved on. Over the next couple years, little things went wrong with my next few cars here and there and I was always told they were life and death and I needed to fix right away. Sometimes I believed them, but I found in all cases that that was never the case and I should always get a second opinion or just not go here. It seemed like I was always waiting a long time for an estimate or they would always call later in the day if I dropped it off so I would have to make a decision and scurry to pick it up before they closed. I remember I had a problem with a tail light a couple years ago but I assure you it wasnt a $200 problem. They convinced me there was a crack or something and that water would get in easily and I needed a whole new tail light. Everyone else just told me it was the bulb and it was an easy fix but theres no money in that right? But the last straw came on my most recent vehicle a year or two ago. I had a Jeep with 4 wheel drive and the 4 wheel drive seemed to struggle the previous winter, so I went and got it checked. I waited almost 2 hours for an estimate only to find that they had removed the drive shaft without my permission to tell me I could get a new one. It wasnt the outrageous price for the new drive shaft that infuriated me, it was the fact that I never gave them permission to take that off. Herb said he would let me know what was wrong before he did anything. Not this time! I felt violated and never went there again. A side note, every time I got my car back the radio station was set to something I didnt care for, and my car smelled like smoke. Im not anal about things but its not too much to ask for a little common courtesy when you are handing them one of your most valuable possessions is it? I will give them 2 stars only because they did sell me my current vehicle with a brand new engine for a fairly good price. Although within the first couple years its needed work done that was almost as much as it costs. Well, if you go here that is. Mechanics are just people. But when you see patterns of a place ripping you off, report it and move onto the next one. Nothing will change if we dont document the wrong done to us. So dont be afraid to speak up because no place is perfect and every place should want to change to be the best it can be. And as for you fellow Christians, let us pray for these businesses who have lost their way. Pray that God changes their heart and shows them the error of their ways. Lets not hate them but pray that they will change. Hate cannot drive out hate. Only love can do that.

I question whether the good reviews are legitimate or seeded by the shop. Wow, wow, -just wow. I am flabbergasted. 7/22/2014. I just came back from a 4pm oil change appointment at the Ann Arbor MI. Lohr Road Speedy. The manager there was so incredibly rude, obnoxious and insulting that I am at a loss for words. Ill never go back there again, and I absolutely recommend that if you want to avoid being abused and insulted, you not go there either. Read on if you care why- So I go in just a few minutes early, give my name, hand the guy the coupon and tell him "Im here for the oil change and tire rotation." He says "We cant do your tire rotation because you didnt tell me on the phone you wanted it." I said "Oh, I didnt realize that had to be stated because the coupon makes it look like they are part of the same service deal." I guess he didnt like that. Then I ask "How long does a tire rotation take?" (I know full well that it is trivial, taking just a couple of minutes). He doesnt answer. I ask again. He says he can do the tire rotation if I want to wait around another hour. He asks do I want to wait an hour? You should have seen the puzzled look on my face. I doubt ANY other place would have just done it without any issue. I lean forward and point to the coupon and say, "All Im asking is for you to honor what the coupon says. How long does it take to do the actual tire rotation?" Im trying to negotiate, so Im trying to sound very nice. Then he leans forward, glares at me and and says with a growl "We will only do the oil change. Do you want it or not?" So I back up and say "Hey, why are you giving me attitude? Im just asking you to honor your coupon." I didnt raise my voice or act threatening at all. But he turns even more nasty, informs me that he will not do the oil change, and tells me "I dont need your abuse! You should leave now and never come back." I should have done that, but I really didnt have time to reschedule. After talking to him a bit more I got him to at least do the oil change. He put on a smile like a snake which made me wonder if he was going to go do something to my car... When it came time to pay I pulled out cash. I asked him as politely as I could "May I please ask what I said that offended you?" "You leaned over, slammed your hand down on the counter and demanded that I do what you wanted!" And he said it in a really belligerent way. But the fact is that I did no such thing! Then he said he didnt want to argue it, "Just pay me, get out, and dont ever come back." I felt like it was the twilight zone. I dont know if he was just having a grumpy day or what, but you should know that this shop wont honor its full coupon, and has a horrific and abusive customer service attitude. All I did was to politely try to talk to him about honoring his coupon. BTW, he admitted that this tire rotation takes only 3 minutes (yet he wanted me to wait an hour. It could easily have been done while the oil was draining.) Was it worth it? You tell me.

BEYOND UNETHICAL--CRIMINAL! I went in for a brake flush last Saturday. I said my cars brakes failed the previous weekend after continued hard-braking, and the fluid was likely 5 years old (age of the car). Herb said he will have DOT 5.1 fluid put in, and will take 45 minutes (usually takes an hour). Called me in 25 minutes that it was ready. Got home, put the car on ramps to change the exhaust and found that NONE OF THE BLEED SCREWS, 8 ON THE BREMBO BRAKES ON THIS CAR, HAD BEEN TOUCHED!!! The bleed screws and the rubber covers on the inside had the thick coating of dirt that my car got a month ago in the rain on a local dirt road--not a single mark of being touched by a hand or tool! I took plenty of pictures. They had the nerve to lie to me that they changed the fluid and bled the brakes and charge me $98, but even worse, let me ride on brake fluid that has failed and can have me killed. I drive my kids in this car! I plan to contact an attorney. This is criminal and they should not be in business--far beyond unethical. If they did it to me, they likely did it to others. Far worse than just wasting my time and stealing my money. I sent them this message later that evening. Herb called me on the next day, Sunday, and tried to make excuses! He said that the mechanic was not familiar with the brakes--standard brake calipers with standard bleed screws on a five year old car with 20k miles--and that if I went back, he would do the job this time. INSANE! I am now convinced that this is common practice there.
